Madness Fades 05-27-2008 10:59 AM

Explain how you chose your Username.

I picked Madness Fades simply because I liked the lyrics from Lindseys 'Countdown'
and those two words are in the song and sounded well together.

JWS 05-27-2008 12:27 PM

I was really creative and used initials.

gretchen 05-27-2008 12:30 PM

David 05-27-2008 01:47 PM

I decided to go with "David" because I like the sound of it, & plus it's my Christian name.

Yeah, well I totally understand the part were you liked the sound of it. However the fact that its your christian name is way to coincidental. Imagine that. Pure Luck

SortaSavageLike 05-27-2008 02:51 PM

Because it sounds silly.

petep9000 05-27-2008 02:58 PM

Pete was my partners name in English. His real name in his own language also started with a P, hence the Petep. And he drove a Saab 9000, hence the Petep9000.
That was the old AOL username I used when I started going online in 1993, because I didn't know how to set up my own account so I used his. Eventually he stopped using it completely and it was 'mine'. It just carried over into other things eventually, like this board.

Silly, right. To use a user name that was a tribute to someone you loved, when that person doesn't exist in your life anymore..

LOL.. Good one!

Bella Figura 05-27-2008 03:14 PM

Bella Figura means "a good impression(figure)" in Italian...I use it as my online identity and I've used it professionally...plus it has some of my real name in it...

Street_Dreamer 05-27-2008 03:31 PM

Street Dreamer is a song that I wrote about 8 years ago.

Matt

dnightshade 05-27-2008 03:47 PM

dnightshade is short for Deadlynightshade which is a flowering vine that falls under the nightshade umbrella. It's very poisonous and has been used for medicinal as well as murderous purposes throughout history. It's been widely believed to be a key ingredient in most any "witches brew" and in Love Potions. Deadlynightshade is synonymous with Belladonna.

I don't think it's silly. I think it's touching and poetic - in a romantic kind of way. It's def. something I would do.

Gypsy-Rhiannon 05-27-2008 04:08 PM

Mine is pretty self explanatory!

Stew_Matthews 05-27-2008 04:22 PM

My real name is William Stewart Matthews. When I first started working I used Stew rather than Wil and that has stuck.

Chrislit18 05-27-2008 06:08 PM

Well, mine is actually my email address.
But it derives from my real name.

Christine [first name]
Lit is part of my last name.
and 18 is the day of the month I was born on, and my fave number :D

Sahara 05-27-2008 06:21 PM

Sahara is the name of a short story I wrote a few years ago, which was inspired by Stevie's music. :)

I think I have referred to you as "Pete" when addressing you in PM's :sorry:

Anyway, my name is Janet, but most people call me Jannie. I wanted to be "Jannie", but apparently there already *is* a Jannie on this board. A Jannie that never posts.

I've always liked your username. :wavey:

MacMan 05-27-2008 09:02 PM

Mac=I like Fm
Man=I'm a man:shrug:

bucklind17 05-27-2008 09:07 PM

I created this screen name when I was 15, thinking that I was cleverly disguising my Fleetwood Mac love in a way that Fleetwood Mac fans would recognize, but that I could use elsewhere and not have people be like "OBSESSED!" First four letters of Lindsey, first four letters of Buckingham, backward. So clever, I thought I was. I added the 17 later, since it's the day I was born and you almost always need numbers these days or else the word is already taken.

jr2280 05-27-2008 09:22 PM

JR is my initials and 2280 are the last 4 digits in my phone number. Plus I use this name everywhere

totallycait 05-28-2008 09:12 AM

Cait is my name, and I wanted something 80s that wasn't a number. So, like, totally.

Now I might change it to something lyric inspired if I could. I just started posting again after a long lurking phase, and thought about registering with a fresh SN. But nah, this name does still make me smile.

Bella Figura 05-28-2008 09:17 AM

thanks janniec...:xoxo:

I love "totallycait"...I'm going thru an 80's phase myself right now...

No prob! It's my alter-ego, in FM/Nicks world I simply am Pete, and prob have signed myself like that in PM's too.
Anyone could also call me John if they wanted.

I've called you Pete from time immemorial.

Nobody likes the name John, John.

Even Jesus refused to address John the Baptist as John, preferring instead to call him Jack, or Chicomambasso in quieter moments.

I was my mother's, and older sister's "Johnny-boy" until I was in my teens. But Pete is as good an alter-ego as any, Miss Jackson if you're nasty.

DavidMn 05-28-2008 08:22 PM

Well Mine is a combination of a couple things. My first name being David of course. M is the first letter of my last name, which is Marx, and Mn is the abbreviation for the great state of Minnesota, where I'm from. So that's now I picked my name.

See, the thing is, there's only one "Real" David here and thats you my friend. I have to know my place in the order of things you know!

Did you ever read De Voto's ACROSS THE WIDE MISSOURI?

eclipse 06-02-2008 11:43 AM

Username

For me, this was easy....
I wanted to stay secretative about who I am and I didn't want to have to remember any numbers
I love the moon and everything about her, the way she looks, shines, changes, is full and is new...like me--
I am never the same.
Always changing moods, wants, desires, needs, clothes...just my whole personality is about little changes that you may not notice.

Just like the moon changes her looks daily. I love how people disregard the moon's influence, of their moods and
do not think they are connected. But, check the pages in the paper for their "Horoscope...that's all about the sun.The sun hurts my eyes .
But I can stare at my Sister Moon for hours upon hours.
Some nights that is likely to be where you will find me...
"Nightdreaming" under the moon's constant glow.

Plus, it doesn't hurt that I love Sisters of the Moon

#1LiddyBuckFan 06-02-2008 12:19 PM

Mine doesn't need much expanation.

I like to think the name fits but maybe my ego is a little too big.

Mine's is pretty obvious. I think I had chosen "Bleed2LoveHer" originally, then changed it. It stuck.

It's about all the Indian tribes & the fur traders & some of the national politics in the decades leading up to the war with Mexico in the 1840s.

xxxmx 06-04-2008 06:58 PM

i used to sign off on correspondence with

...M.

and because one cannot use . in usernames, the Xs seemed like a nice fit. otherwise, no significance.

other usernames are InVinoVeritas and StarStuff... nods to other pursuits - drinking and idolizing carl sagan. classy.
