Since too many people were thrown out of this place, even Danax6, one of the most truthfull Macfans on the net, I just want to say to you all: Thank You. But this place has become too "Bush-y" for a leftwing European. The American inconsequent reading of rules has gone too far for me. All people that I love over here: I think my time has come to say: Now I say Goodbye to you. There are more "free" places on the net that deserve my energy.

What do this mean. I dont understand. The ledge has been fine has it not.....

I'm sorry to hear that so many people are being banned, for whatever reason. I see many people are leaving as well and heading to the new Fleetwood Mac forum. I enjoy the Ledge, and have a fondness for it...especially because I have been here for so long like many others. I hope whatever it is that is going on can be resolved and we can get more folks back here.

I miss everything.

Six people were suspended for 7 days for ongoing attack posts against another Ledgie. That 7 day period expired on April 24.

During the suspension, one gentleman used a second user id to stir up further conflict. He is the only person who was permanently banned in recent months, due to his deceptive use of the alias id. No one else is banned. Their absence is quite voluntary.

No, I'm here to finish a 5 year-membership. I've received some PM's and I wanted to respond to gldstwmn, because I DO like her. You guys don't have a clue about what mess this board has made from a community that really bonded friends. They're mostly kicked out or fed up with the board. I've swallowed a lot of **** for a long time and now it's bye. I Know that there are a few people here that liked my existance as shackin'up on the ledge. And I know that there are some people who will miss me as toothache. Whaever.

Please Don't Go Gerald, you're too vital to the ledge. I too am very disatisfied with things here as of late, but in the end my love of the band and its members trumps all of that, and there's still enough great people left to keep The Ledge, The Ledge.

I'm not in any private cliques and I don't know alot of people here beyond their screen names but I enjoy all the posts and contributions people make: photos, links, downloads. I hope no one leaves because this seems like a great place with a lot of interesting, knowledgable and entertaining personalities.

I will miss you...you always had great insight on the Buckingham forum. It's a shame to lose you.

Have these "attack" posts been removed ? I have tried to find them so i could judge for myself but was unable to trace them. As Gerald already pointed out; Vanessa is a very honest and true fan and i find it hard to believe she would maliciously attack another fan.

Although the banning was only temporary, it looks like people have chosen not to return. :distress: I think it's one thing to give someone a strike, but I think the temporary suspension on top of that, for a transgression that was arguably not particularly mean-spirited, was a bit excessive. There is a way to enforce the rules at the Ledge without slowly killing it at the same time.

Yes, we did not delete any posts, but as the thread continued, users began deleting their own.

I'm the only one who deleted some posts and you can read absolutely everything I said in other people's quotes. It's still all there, everything that happened.
I just wanted to remove myself from the argument, probably in a foolish way.

Except that none of the offenders removed any of their posts. At all. I was reading it - and keeping up with it, and nothing that I read at the time has been removed. What you see is what you get. (edit: except Sharon - but she explains that.)

I haven't posted on here in quite a while - mostly because I'm not interested in a lot of what's being posted on here.

I've been a member of the Ledge since 2000. 8 years of my life have been spent on the Ledge, which up until recently was my favorite place on the Internet. Now? Not so much.

It's a sad day when long-time, and in many cases supporting, members of this board are basically told to hit the road - when some new person who causes nothing but trouble is giving carte blanche. The rules are only applied to people the moderators decided they should be applied to...and things just aren't run fairly at all.

Of course this is when the new owner would come in and say "it's MY board and I don't have to be fair, it's my way or the highway." which is another problem I have with The Ledge as of late.

You have people who pay their own money to support this site - yet it's your way or the highway. Whatever - if alienating the solid base of this site - people who have been here for many years was your goal then congratulations.

The crime that was committed by these people was apparently meeting on here and forming real and lasting friendships. How dare they.

Anyway - it's not without a little sadness that I bid The Ledge farewell, though to be honest I feel like The Ledge left me long before I left the Ledge :lol:

Every word I said, including whichever post or posts I was banned for, is still there on the Vivfox thread for all to see. People can make up their own minds.

I enjoyed it here very much, but it's time to move on :wavey:

since these aren't really concerns over the "set up" of the board, Chit Chat is actually the appropriate forum.

got PM or signature problems, etc., that would go there. it's more of an IT-type forum.

I guess it all depends on interpretation of "set up"- I mean, it would make sense to have discussions regarding membership/moderation of the boards in a forum dedicated to the boards themselves, rather than dragging it in here.

But, maybe that's just me.

well, one would think there would be enough HOT homan threads with the ledge as topic that that would keep oneself quite busy...apparently not. seems situations such as this tend to bring on that love/hate bit. :shrug:

I've been keeping quiet through this mostly because I am new at moderating and don't want to come off sounding like I believe I am an authority on anything. However, I do want to say that I wish that *no one* would leave. I will miss the folks that I genuinely thought of as friends here in cyberspace. Some of you have access to my private journal and there is a reason for that. All that being said, if The Ledge does not bring happiness to someone, he or she should have the right to move on.

I have been really busy trying to finish up graduate school (graduating in 15 days!) so I haven't had time to speak on these issues like I would have liked. I believe that the overall reasoning behind the suspensions was a feeling of a bullying attitude. Please bear in mind that every single rule break is not always picked up on by moderators. Most of the time, I receive a PM with a complaint before I've had the chance to see it in the thread itself. What I do is then copy the complaint and discuss it with the other moderators. I don't know ANY of the back stories or histories between different Ledgies. I've never been adept at figuring out who likes or dislikes who. I suppose that's due in part to the fact that before I became a moderator, I steered clear from "argument" threads.

No one moderator makes the decision to suspend or ban (I definitely would not feel comfortable with that "power" considering how long I've been here). I'd like to think that I try to be fair. I do admit not being quite as on top of things as I should, but I don't have as much time to read all the threads as I usually do, and for that, I apologize.

I'll end this by saying that I'm sorry to those who feel that they have not been treated fairly. The Ledge should be a place for Stevie and FM freaks (like me! :wavey:) to be able to get together and talk about the band and have interesting and thought provoking discussions.

great note, jannie. would be ubercool if we all could come together as FM fans. I, too, am on the miss for some peeps...but, in the circumstance of tempban, they do have freedom of choice to return or not...if they want to move on/away all I can offer is 'peace' and wish them well...odd shiz happens when 'feelings' are involved. :shrug:

I don't know why everyone is taking this so serious - "I'M GONNA TAKE MY BALL AND GO HOME!" - come on. It's a forum. People seem so worked up over this.

Many people have been a part of this community for several years. People have formed friendships.
