Concert season is coming !
Just received the first names for the open air summer concerts here in Antwerp and i cannot believe it but K.D.Lang is coming ! I so love her voice and think she is one of the most gifted singers of this day. And yeah, i already got tickets :]
I also got tickets for Willy Deville and for the yearly Blues festival. Last year i sent a mail to the organisation of the open air concerts, asking them to bring Lindsey over to Belgium but never got a reply  ...and his name is not on the list (yet) but i have not given up hope yet ..... |

So far we have tickets to Tom Petty and Jack Johnson. I need to get my Dave Matthews tickets, and I'll be good for the year.
|
Hey Suzy, will you by any chance be going to Rock Werchter? Or Werchter Classics? I'm going to the latter to see The Police. Apparantly it's cheaper to go see them at a festival (where they play the same set) than in an arena somewhere.
|
I'd really like to see k.d. as wsell. So far this year, I've been to a lot of "emo" shows. Interesting to say the least. Lot's of bad, plenty of good though. But the title...."emo." Makes no sense.
Anyway, I'm HIGHLY anticipating 2 Rilo Kiley shows next week, then Goldfrapp. Nothing much more till June onward. I'd like to see the Petty show in SF (it's some huge festival thing) but tix are outrageous. |

I'm not. Apart from having other obligations that day, i'm not particularly fond of huge crowds  I guess that is why i so enjoyed LB's concerts last year; small theaters and much better view and sound. The open air theatre in Antwerp has about that same capacity, and it's in the middle of a huge park so you sit there surrounded by trees, with bats flying over at dawn  I absolutely love it (except when it's raining ofcourse ) |

I've checked Humphrey's site and my pick would be Plant & Krauss , Crosby Stills & Nash and Chris Isaak (and maybe the Beach Boys). I really liked Humphrey's, so much even that if i win the lottery i'll be renting a room there for a whole month ! |
so far it's...
it should be an awesome summer -- lots of concerts that haven't been announced yet that are going to kick some serious ass. |
I've got tix for the Raconteurs on May 3rd. I'll be buying tix soon for Stone Temple Pilots. Still up in the air re: The B-52's and a few others I'm still waiting for dates to be announced.
The Austin City Limits Festival lineup was just announced. I was waiting for this before committing to/buying tickets for other acts I was hoping would come to my own backyard. I'm pretty stoked about the mid-tier acts, so many were on my SXSW list and I didn't see them in March. I've bolded who I'm most excited about. * Foo Fighters * Spiritualized * Colour Revolt * Robert Plant and Alison Krauss * Drive-By Truckers * Five Times August * Beck * Ingrid Michaelson * Langhorne Slim * Manu Chao * Stars - very FM-ish * Sybris * John Fogerty * Alejandro Escovedo * Eli ‘Paper Boy’ Reed and the True Loves * David Byrne * Jose Gonzales * Bavu Blakes and the Extra Plairs * The Raconteurs * CSS * AA Bondy * The Mars Volta * Del the Funky Homosapien * Christopher Denny * Gnarls Barkley * Man Man * Mike Farris * Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band * Jamie Lidell * The Lee Boys * N.E.R.D * MGMT * South Austin Jug Band * Erykah Badu * What Made Milwaukee Famous * American Bang * Robert Earl Keen * Jenny Lewis * Massacoustics * Patty Griffin * M. Hells yea! DMB! So far my only concerts for the year are Dave Matthews OKC 8/13 - My 21st b-day! Omaha July 22 And maybe Stevie in Boston....Maybe:shrug: Big rumor that Motley crue/papa roac/buckcherry are going to tour... Thats one I will HAVE to see |
does anyone have any idea if Bruce Springsteen is going to release anymore US dates besides New Jersey/Boston/Milwaukee??? I need to see him.... This is not a want..... ITS A NEED.....like food and water!
|
Springsteen just played in Dallas, a bunch of local media attended. Yesterday, a local DJ said he spent some time talking with Little Steven - and that they might add another leg to the tour. They'd be dumb not to. I was hoping they'd be the main headliner for ACL, but doesn't look like that's gonna happen.
You did hear about Jon Bon Jovi joining them onstage in Dallas for "Glory Days," right? |
Damn Livia!!!! & here I thought I got out a lot!
The Mars Volta should be PHENOMENAL. And Erakah Badu, OMFG< I LOVE her, but know no one else that does =0( Generally I'll brave shows myself, but I dunno about hers. I'd really like to see her live though. Is the new album any good? LOTS of people on your list that I didn't even know were out & about. Please add to this thread w/ anything you go too! |
LOL - Well, that is a 3-day festival. :p
The Mars Volta just played here, and I didn't decide I liked them until recently, so I'm glad they'll be back. Haven't heard Erykah's new album yet and haven't ever seen her. |
My money is on Emmylou Harris and probably Krauss & Plant (already sold out here),
but as we all know Ticketmaster always releases more and the best tickets at the last minute! |
Where the hell do you live that you get Dolly in your neck of the woods?! I heard her tour was going to be in very select cities. Lucky you.
As for Mars Volta, I've never heard that they are any good, just assumed they would be. Now I am most intersted w/ the 2 POV's here. And the Breeders. WOW! Dunno if I could handle a whole show of her stuff, but she is a force to be reckoned w/ in pop culture music. Do tell how it is. Have a blast!!!! All ya'll's put my measley shows to shame. |

I'm literally sick that I probably won't get to see Dolly.

I'm not usually much of a concert-goer because I don't really have the money, or moreso, I don't have the money to pay for my friends who don't want to come along enough to spend the money themselves. But this year has been quite good to me and in the next two months I am seeing:
Stevie Nicks Matt Nathanson Lifehouse Hanson (you have no idea how excited I am for this, SO excited) Billy Joel REM And that's just till June! I'm hoping to add on the American Idol tour (love me some David Cook) at least, possibly OAR and probably a few other things as well. |

Why always pay for good gig memories, bad memories last just as long.:) |
I'm debating on Rilo Kiley tonight AND next week in Santa Cruz. SC is my old stomping ground, and I so love to see shows there, but I've nothing better to do today, so maybe I'll see them both times. I did just see that The Breeders are doing a free in store signing & show 5/1. Since I won't likely be going to their show, can you say HELL yea, I'll be @ that signing. Kick ass!
I also just got tix for Live 105's yearly BFD. IMO, those things have SUCKED for the last 10 years, but for only $10.53 a ticket to see 20+ bands, what the hell. I'm game for Cypress Hill...they are always fun, though not my bag on a regular basis. Plus Moby...met him once, but actually never seen him perfome, so ok, that's $10's worth. The rest of the bands.....who?????? |

So far, for me, just Neil Diamond.

My concert season kicked off last Thursday with Bon Jovi/Daughtry. It was a high energy show. Here's some pics:

As for BJ & Dot, yea, um, so Jovie looks pretty damn hot! Have I mentioned that one time he & Sambora (sp?) were in our Sedan? Hubby picked them up having no idea who they were, but "thought" they were famous? UGH! If there is one reason we'll never sell that car (it's no longer used for Airport, but instead a private car) it's cause those asses have graced the seats. lmao. I've never been a huge BonJovie fan, but my friend wants to see them. Thinking even lawn seats would suffice. Your seats were crazy good! Great photos! |

I didn't know Jon and Richie were in one of your cars. I hope they were nice. I just saw Bon Jovi two weeks ago. I wasn't that interested but a friend of mine really wanted to go and I'm glad I went. We both had a lot of fun. Ryan (RickyPT) and I just went to see Mudcrutch, Tom Petty's old band, a couple of nights ago at the Fillmore. It was great to see Tom Petty do totally new music and not even touch a Heartbreakers' song. I wish Stevie could mix it up like Tom. |
That's really cool Deb. Dawn wanted to go to that Mudcrutch show as well. I didn't know that it already went. There was one in Santa Cruz and the tix were SO pricey, so that's why we didn't go. Speaking of pricey...wtf is with the True Colors show? Damn! I am expecting you to keep a watch on Craigs list and find good seats. :wavey:

Rilo Kiley tonight. Hope it's a blast. Didn't make it to their SF show. |
I am still trying to get good tickets to see Neil, but it seems that everyone wants the big bucks for the great seats. I just would like to see him up close seeing that I have liked him since I was a kid, lol, I just don't want to offer my 1st born for the tix, if ya know what I mean. lol .
Knowing that he puts on a great show, I guess that I will just spend the money on the tix, but I just bought a Harley tonight, not a brand new one, but a 1999, soooooooooooooo, I don't know how I will be coming up the money so quick, oh well, it's Neil, so I will find a way! |

Here's a few more pics. Daughtry was looking mighty fine himself. To me, that man exudes sex appeal. DAMN! Giddyup..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...ril2008016.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...ril2008021.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...ril2008019.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...ril2008094.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...ril2008067.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...ril2008052.jpg |
