Turner Model 1 Question
What do you guys think of the Gold top turner model 1. Rick is doing one for me at the minute. I already have a Red/ Brown one and i was just wondering what you thing of the gold top as a finish. Gloss finish top and satin finish back sides and neck.

I haven't seen it but it sounds very beautiful. It probably achieves the ancient Greek ideal: perfection in proportion, balance, clarity of line, symmetry.
It's a beautiful model, but then all the guitars I've seen that Turner builds are lookers. Now if only Turner would return demon's guitar!! |
Well here is a picture of a similar Model 1. It will look like this
http://kcbassmint.com/index.php?main...p_image&pID=37 It's number 071 from the Original 100 built. Its Very Very Cool !!!! And its for sale for the right money. A few quotes from Rick Turner "When we do the gold top, we'd also refinish the whole guitar with our latest polyester approach. Then we'd put in new electronics and bring it up to full Lindsey specs. It's number 071 from 1980, so it's one of the first 100 and in the original series." |

I think all the Turners are beautiful instruments. The gold is really nice, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I'm not really sure why, but I've never been into goldtop guitars for some reason. I've always been partial to guitars with finishes that allow you to see the woodgrain.
Personally, I'd want this one... and there's also a beautiful black one with gold hardware... can't find the picture at the moment. I have it on my computer, but it's apparently too large to make into an attachment. The goldtop is very nice though, and I think you should go for it! =) Oh, I have a Model 1 question. I saw one on the Turner site (I think it was on the Turner site anyway) that had a Roland Synth.... anyone notice if any of Lindsey's model 1's have it... or otherwise hear it in action or read anything about it? The Roland Synth pickups are sick to death, I'm sure it'd be awesome in the Model 1, being that it's already apparently a very versatile guitar as far as effect abilities go. |

Yes well Lindsey has a Renaissance RS-6s with Roland VG 8 systems, an RS-12 and an RS-6-B baritone which was set up for him with a Roland system by Rick Turner for the 'Say You Will' tour in 2003. Rick also fitted the Roland VG 8system on at least one of Lindsey's Model 1s for the tour. |
By the way everyone.
There is a rare opportunity to grab the Lindsey Buckingham Turner Guitar poster on Ebay. This is an absolutely class little poster and it looks just great framed. I got one on ebay for $12 Dollars last year and it looks great hanging on the wall. My advice is to stick a bid on it. Here is a link to it http://cgi.ebay.com/LINDSEY-BUCKINGH...QQcmdZViewItem |
Yeah, I think MOST Turner Model 1 finishes/wood types are just gorgeous.
Last July I was in Las Vegas and took a trip to Ed Roman's guitar shop. He had (and apparently STILL has) this Model 1 made from sycamore (rather than the usual mahogany or alder). As fine as this photo is, it doesn't do the finish justice...it's MUCH more intense wood grain than how the photo makes it look. I just wish I had the money to scoop this puppy up...but, alas, only in my dreams. (Like already owning ONE awesome Model 1 isn't infinitely MORE than one could ask for in a lifetime?) http://www.edroman.com/guitars/turne...s/TUR_2428.jpg |
I saw that sycamore one on the Ed Roman site a while back. It is a beauty.
I want one. I also want one of the amplicoustics. Anybody had a chance to sit down with one of those bad boys? |

I didn't realize that Lindsey was outfitted with the Rolands. |
Absolutely, lovely finish on that Turner Chili (I can see why you'd like one)
|
Yep, that sycamore one is really stunning (as I said, especially in person), but, I still love the finish on the one I already own. This photo is the closest to how the finish looks in person...it's kind of funny how different lighting and camera angles can make the finish look totally different.
(I don't have a photo of it without having ME in photo, too; my apologies) http://www.renaissanceguitars.com/Ga...ve_7-4-99d.JPG |

Hi Sarah, I also have a Amplicoustic its called an RS-6 and it is a beautiful sounding guitar. It has a nice thin comfortable neck and it is extremely lightweight. I mean really really light. There is a volume control and tone control on mine and the pickup is in the bridge. It is a great guitar. 10/10 MyLittleDemon I really hope he gets it right for me although i have full trust that he will. I am going to sell this guitar on as soon as it is refurbed. I will do the Ebay ad and Rick will Dispatch for me anywhere in the US. Which is extremely decent of him to do. What I'm hoping for is that this guitar will make enough so that I can order a very well finished compass rose acoustic. That way i will have an M1 an RS6 and the new acoustic. I Dont have a Model T but I dont really want one at the minute, although i would complete a fine collection for me. All leftys too !!! |

Awesome!
If I may ask, what exactly was your beef with the neck in the first place? Is it a dimension or shape issue? The finish? I'm glad you've finally gotten some news on yours. Ugh, damnit. I want a Turner. :( |

Ahh, ok, gotcha. I like the low gloss look on the Turners as well. Like anyone else, I'd take ANY of them.. but my choice would not be the shiny, "red" looking ones.

Ah well at least you are getting the proper treatment now. Hope your happy with the custom neck.
I also have the thin custom neck on my vintage 1980 Gold top that rick has done for me. He said the thin neck originally was designed for the japanese and most of them went out to japan. The US market tended to stick with the thicker les Paul size neck. However a small few of the thin necks did remain in the US. Rick said he will have a few pictures for me in the next month so i will post them here when i get them. Peestie this could be the very guitar for you man, how far can you stretch that student loan. ????? |
