I always remember my mother when I see Deborah. They were not that look-alike (mom looked far more like Natalie Wood in her youth), but she was fan of Deborah Kerr. My fave movie of DK is An Affair to remember.

You're leaving it up to interpretation, just what you mean by "top." Not sure if you mean who I think are the "best" ones or who are my "favorites" (yes, I do see a difference). So I'm taking it to mean the latter. (Sorry, trying to protect myself by reading all the small print. You never know who might sue you. ;):wavey:)
Basically in order:

Gregory Peck
Spencer Tracy
Cary Grant
Gene Kelly
Charlie Chaplin
Paul Rudd
Albert Brooks

Ruth Gordon
Dianne Wiest
Glenn Close
Meryl Streep
Madeline Kahn
Lee Remick
Carole Lombard

- Jake

Just came back to edit the above. First of all, I had meant Peck when I typed in Tracy - they did both play lawyers. Also, since others aren't sticking to ten, me neither.:> )

Spencer Tracy
Hanna Schygulla
Carole Lombard
Romolo Valli
Clifton Webb
Anna Magnani
Philippe Noiret
Cheng Pei Pei
Maggie Smith
Aleksander Bardini

Honorable mentions: Jean-Pierre Bacri, Maggie Cheung

Adrien Brody
Ralph fiennes
Sam Neil
Kathy Burke
Daneil Day Lewis

I'm not George Sanders's biggest fan, no. However, Edgar G. Ulmer -- one of my cinematic heroes & the man who I think should have directed Gone With the Wind (in a style approximating that of his great Detour) -- directed Sanders in an excellent role & performance opposite Hedy Lamarr in a film called Strange Woman. That's my favorite Sanders performance, followed probably by his dastardly cousin in Hitchcock's Rebecca.

Sanders was also excellent as the King in Preminger's Forever Amber, another film that should have served as the model for GWTW & directorial style & personality. (I'm an oddball Preminger fan because I consider Whirlpool his greatest & one of Ben Hecht's best & weirdest screenplays.)

Sanders's role in All About Eve is a bit of a puzzle because I can't quite tell whether he's meant to approximate George Jean Nathan or James Agate. http://www.logoslibrary.eu/users/bio_images/agate.jpg
