Right or Left?

I have no idea if this is meaningful or not, but it's fun.

Is the woman spinning clockwise or counterclockwise?

What it means:

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

My husband and I both saw her going in opposite directions (him right, me left) and we were arguing about it! LOL What do you see?

Stew_Matthews 03-09-2008 07:01 PM

She looks well:laugh: - and is going anti (counter) clockwise.

michelle2677 03-09-2008 07:27 PM

i got this in an email earlier and it started out going clockwise, and then i got her going counter-clockwise. just can't figure out how to get her going the other way again

i think it has to be fixed because i was just watching it again and she was spinning clockwise then out of no where started going the other way...hmmm

JWS 03-09-2008 07:33 PM

I just want to see her come out of the darkness. :]

ontheEdgeof17 03-09-2008 07:49 PM

All I can see is clock-wise....I can't get her to change, no matter how long I stare.

No because Jeff and I were looking at it *together* and still both saw her going in different directions!

I can't either, Curtis. BTW, it's so nice to see you back here! :wavey:

David 03-09-2008 08:20 PM

I stared at this & stared at this (essentially to see whether the figure would "reverse") & this figure definitely spins clockwise in my perception. It's as clear as day to me, & it didn't reverse after staring a long time.

David, I even tried to show my husband how I see it counter-clockwise. I said that she is *clearly* standing on her right foot and spinning to the left and even followed her progress with my finger. It's so bizarre.

bucklind17 03-09-2008 08:25 PM

She's only going counter-clockwise to me. Can't get her to go clockwise at all!

It is! I don't understand how you see it counterclock. How do we all see it differently?
I think we're all messed up on prescription drugs or something. I take Benicar so it's probably too much Benicar.

danax6 03-09-2008 08:48 PM

How weird. First she was going counter-clockwise, then I looked away for a second and when I checked again, she was suddenly going clockwise.

I'm with Michelle... this is fixed. I can't get her to go back again.

ontheEdgeof17 03-09-2008 08:52 PM

oh fug! She just switched on me.

RIGGED!

Same with me and my sister. My sister discovered that when she starts doing math out loud, she switches.

Miss Vicky 03-09-2008 09:02 PM

When I first opened the page, she appeared to be spinning counter-clockwise.

Then I looked away and when I turned back her direction had changed.
I looked away again and it stayed the same.
Then I looked away a third time and she had changed again.

jannieC 03-09-2008 09:04 PM

One of my girlfriends is telling me she thinks it's fixed, too. I only see her going counter clockwise. maybe I need to sit here and stare longer.

golden braid 03-09-2008 09:08 PM

To me it seems she is moving clockwise. I can't even picture her moving counter clockwise no matter how hard I try. Normally I'm more of a left brain person so the results are weird for me.

I thought it was too up until my sister and I saw it going in opposite directions while looking at it at the same time. You can't deny that.

Yes, that's what happened with my husband and me. No matter how long I stare at her (and hello, I really need to stop), I can't see her going in a clockwise direction. :distress:

I was going to say the same thing but only because I can't possibly see how it's going anti-clockwise. Where did you get this from because if it's not rigged then I have to know how people can see that as anti-clockwise. Her leg swung out to the right of the image and moved to the left, I just can't see how it can be going the other way. lol

Glittermoondust 03-09-2008 10:04 PM

I def see her going clockwise........

did you try looking away? or open another window, but minimize it. i did that while on IM. i was looking at the IM, but could see it out of the corner of my eye and she switched.

michelle2677 03-09-2008 10:50 PM

bretonbanquet and i were just checking this out

i see her going counterclockwise and he sees clockwise.

but. I see her standing on her right foot and he sees her on her left. hhmmmmmm

Chrislit18 03-09-2008 10:58 PM

I think its clockwise. :/

I guess im just wierd like that

bretonbanquet 03-09-2008 11:07 PM

I always see her going clockwise when I look straight at her. She's standing on her left foot, and swinging her right. But when I look away, almost to 90 degrees, so that she's in the very corner of my vision, I can make her go anti-clockwise. But when I look straight at her again, she's always going clockwise :)

She's starting to freak me out though

That worked! But only briefly and I can't get it to go anti-clockwise again but now I believe that it can go the other way. It definitely looked like she was standing on her right leg during that time.

Gypsy-Rhiannon 03-10-2008 04:14 AM

OK... I looked earlier but didn't have time to post... and she was spinning anit-clockwise. Now I look and she's spinning clockwise. WTF!

darklinensuit 03-10-2008 05:25 AM

Clockwise here. Can't see anything but.

And seriously, I only see her going anti-clockwise!

Gypsy-Rhiannon 03-10-2008 07:00 AM

OK... wtf... this morning she was going anti-clockwise then when I looked an hour later she was going clockwise. Now she's going anti clockwise again!

suzyvermoesen 03-10-2008 07:12 AM

To me she is turning clock-wise. No matter how i look at her, wether straight at or from the corner of my eyes, she is still turning clock-wise. She is standing on her left foot and swings her right leg from left to right.
(I sent the link to Otto and some of my collegues to find out how they see it.)

SuzeQuze 03-10-2008 10:51 AM

Briefly counter, then clockwise and cannot get her to reverse. I am pretty right-brained so the conclusion makes sense except I want to know more about this effect and how it works.

Gypsy-Rhiannon 03-10-2008 10:55 AM

I have no clue why it keeps changing for me!

suzyvermoesen 03-10-2008 11:03 AM

ok, my colleague and myself have found that if you shift your gaze to 1 particular part of her body (for him it were her buttocks and for me her knees ) she switches from clockwise to counter-clockwise. But only for a brief moment like maybe 3 rounds or so. We think the switch happens when your mind is not a 100 pct concentrated anymore
Otto claims he can have her switch to whatever he wants
(but then he also thinks he can do that with me :D)

That's exactly what I just got too! I went on last night, and saw the same thing, where my boyfriend saw.. "counter-clockwise".. wtf??

I have stared at this thing for an unfathomable amount of time over the last several months. I cannot get it to go counter clockwise at. all. Not once ever, no matter what "method" I try.

The right side of my brain is apparently where I get my stubbornness.
