Special Kind of Love ~ Tango outtake

I have read of a song called Special Kind of Love. It is reported to be a Tano in the Night outtake. Does anyone have it or can you tell me where to hear it?

Next Q: What are the names of other songs that never made the Tango pressing?

Matthew 02-26-2008 03:44 PM

http://www.mediafire.com/?3mbupnd9yzz

There are also these Tango demos: Juliet, Ricky, Down Endless Street, Book of Miracles, Joan of Arc, What has Rock&Roll ever done for you.

WOW! What a quick response!
Thank you my good from friend the Czech Republic....

-----------------------------------------------------
[on edit] Has anyone listened to this song? I don't like it. It sounds like a reject from the Love Boat soundtrack...

wildheart048 02-26-2008 06:19 PM

I never heard of this song! Thanks for asking for it, Betsy, and thanks for posting it, Matthew! Much appreciated!

Chrislit18 02-26-2008 08:05 PM

I had it on my laptop [before it completely died on me], and i loved it. my version had 'Lindseys Guitar Jungle' attached to the begining with this AMAZING song cutting in. [Lindseys Guitar Jungle is just him playing a lot of notes, it sounds very 80s].

I love Tango demos and outtakes.
I do reccomend listening to Ricky, and Down Endless Street.
And When my computer memory stuff gets dealt with, and i get my mp3s on this computer, I have some alt versions of Tango Stuff that I'm sure many of you would love.
[Actually....theres a thread, and I think I used mediafire links the first time.]
EDIT: heres the link-http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=33602

Thanks for posting Matthew. I have missed this song horribly, and now I can enjoy it again! and Thank You Betsy; for requesting it!

Would anyone please be able to post What Has Rock and Roll Ever Done For You? I've never heard it and I'd really like to .

One of her best rocking demos ever. Definately should have been on a released album.

INTERESTING! I've never heard ANY of these. Out of all of them, I only really liked Down Endless Street.

David 02-27-2008 11:57 AM

There's no way in hell or on earth that "What Has Rock & Roll" is a Fleetwood Mac production.

Mac may have tracked it at some point (I think the title is brought up in a band print interview in the early 1980s), but if it was tracked, this ain't it.

They're all kinda' awful, but fabulous. Ricky and Juliet are especially bad.

The real jewel, IMO, is the alternate take of You and I, Part II, with Chris singing lead.

SmileAtYou 02-27-2008 12:12 PM

I don't really dig Tango demos very much, but I have a few.

Here is a link to "You and I" - this might be part one though..... (it might be a B-side or something?...)
http://www.mediafire.com/?v9xzckhne1d

And here is an alternate version of "When I See You Again"
http://www.mediafire.com/?ds0n1ymjf9h

PS) My favorite Tango demo is Joan of Arc

Betsy 02-27-2008 03:55 PM

Hey Matthew and SmileatYou -- Way to be!

Thanks for posting those songs.

I didn't want to seem greedy...

...so I am glad you took the hint and posted the others.

Now, it's on with the earphones for me...

P.S. ... If you have any others, please feel free to delight me...

And thank you Matthew for posting the links of the demos Betsy mentioned, and to you SimleAtYou for posting the two you did!

Since the computer crash I havent been able to hear some of my favourite songs [like Down Endless Street and the Alt version of WISYA[, and this really means a lot to someone like me! :)

I've always thought the same thing, but I've never heard otherwise...much as I love the song, and think it should be on an album, it never would have fit on Tango...

Sounds like a RAL track to me.

I agree. Mick says in his book that it was a track she brought with her to the sessions. She had just finished touring for RAL. It was probably in her garbage bin.

Murrow 02-29-2008 08:35 PM

For the record, here in the UK:

You And I Part I (Buckingham), was the B-side of Big Love
Book Of Miracles (Nicks?) - back of Seven Wonders
Ricky (McVie/Buckingham IIRC) - back of Little Lies
Down Endless Street (Buckingham) - back of Family Man
What Has Rock 'n' Roll was brought along to the Tango sessions but not used

The rest are a closed book to me. What is the writing credit for Special Kind Of Love?

Thanks by the way for posting all these. Great to hear You And I Part 1 again - Big Love was my first Fleetwood Mac record so the waves of nostalgia crash over me. I now intend to listen to both parts back to back.

C

I agree with you & demon. It ain't Mac playing that. It's amazing just how many people have passed it around saying it's Fleetwood. It's been years & thousands of people later. Didn't they even listen to it?

I also have my doubts about Joan of Arc, but that's a thornier musical case, because it's pure programming with one (I guess) slide lead guitar line, as I recall.

Now there IS a real Christine McVie demo -- of Everywhere -- that was played on Timothy White's Rock Stars radio show. It's a drum machine, a bass & some Yamaha DX7 keyboard. It's a beeeeyoot.

There is no writing "credit" for it because it was bootlegged initially -- there was no official release. I think it first got circulated on the Missing Links CD box. Anyone remember for sure?

Here is Christine's demo of Everywhere:

Now, can anyone post the demos of "Big Love" and "Caroline"?
And, if anyone has the version of "you and I" with Christine's vocal, I would especially love to hear that!

funkystuff, I'd be glad to send you Christine's vocal but I need your email. I simply don't know how to use yousendit any other way. (I am challenged by technology).

Or. if someone else wants to post it, go for it. Either way, let me know and it's yours.

aleuzzi, I sent you a message with my email... let me know if it works... I'm so excited to hear this version cuz i only just found out it existed... Thanks so much!

I uploaded Christine's version of "You and I Pt. 2" if anyone wants. I think it is beautiful and I prefer it to the released version!

I am still looking for the "Big Love" and "Caroline" demos, if anyone can post those :)
Much thanks! :)

I'm leaning toward thinking Joan is a FM demo. The quirky synth part sounds like something Lindsey would have done. Plus, Stevie's voice sounds more weathered as if it was recorded well into the RAL tour. Remember, Stevie recorded some vocals while she was on the road. Anywho...

Thanks for the Everywhere demo...I listened and taped that Timothy White special when it originally aired but the tape has long since disappeared or was taped over. Apparently I had issues with taping over things many years ago...I have since become an avid labeler with everything everywhere now! Pun intended!

This one was on a Tango set and it's called

Caroline (alternate version)

http://www.mediafire.com/?lkx1gjxmtwz

As for Big Love, there are three versions on the set.

Big Love (extended remix)

Big Love (House on the Hill dub)

Big Love (piano dub)

Do you want one of these?

funkystuff08 03-12-2008 03:26 PM

Thanks for that one!

I already have those "Big Love" remixes you mentioned... I'm looking for Lindsey's solo demo which has mostly mumbling vocals... I used to have it on a casette of an outtake compilation called "The Dream has Just Begun".

Those are from the 12" dance mix single of "Big Love" that was released in '87.

There are also 12" dance mix singles of "Seven Wonders", "Little Lies", & "Everywhere".

wildheart048 03-13-2008 04:36 AM

Does anyone have those original Everywhere remixes? I'd love to hear them if anyone felt like sharing...

If this makes any sense, the House on the Hill dub sounds a bit like Marky Marks 'Good Vibrations'....When it first kicked in thats all i could think of. lol

I do like it though.
Havent had a chance to listen to the other BL mixes, but thanks so much for posting them!!
