Cher is set to announce...

her Vegas stint in the next few days. Supposedly her show will start in early May and she has signed on for 100 shows. I guess she and Bette will be switching off.

Cher takes over Vegas Colosseum

The long-lived rumor is true: Cher [ tickets ] will return to the stage with a residency at Las Vegas' Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
The superstar has inked a deal to play approximately 200 shows at the 4,300-seat venue over a span of three years. The spectacular--which will feature dancers, aerialists, special effects, Bob Mackie costumes and music spanning Cher's four-decade career--is due to kick off May 6.

In December, Celine Dion [ tickets ] wrapped up a long-term residency at the venue that played to more than 3 million people during 723 sold-out performances, according to Dion's camp.

"I started in Vegas at Caesars, so I've come full circle," Cher said in a statement. "I'm back and I plan to give my fans the best experience yet. I think everybody knows I only do things in a big way."

The shows will initially run for a month and Cher will return for her next round of dates in early August. The 90-minute performances will be presented four nights a week--Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday--and tickets, priced from $95 to $250, are currently on sale through The Colosseum box office, Ticketmaster (LiveDaily's parent company) or by calling 1-866-510-CHER.

The Grammy-, Oscar- and Emmy-winning performer recently told USA Today that the production's set will be quite impressive.

"Our set moves down from the ceiling, in from the sides, up from the floor," she said. "We have screens in the foreground, the center and the back. We can change a city into a forest in two seconds. You'll see a different stage for every song."

Cher retired from touring in 2005 after her farewell trek grew from fewer than 50 North American dates to 326.

The music and movie star has released more than 25 albums and sold more than 100 million records worldwide during her solo recording career, according to a press release.

Cher will share the venue with Bette Midler, who opens her planned two-year run at the Colosseum on Feb. 20. Elton John's "The Red Piano" show is also continuing its residency this year at the same theater.

awesome. I always tell everyone the Farewell show I caught still stands as the most (overall) entertaining concert ever. it was amazing. I hope I get to see one of these shows.

David 02-07-2008 05:18 PM

I hope Cher sings "Believe" at her next concert tour.

That & "Gypsies & Tramps & Dark Ladies" is probably my favorite.

I just hope she hasn't yet mothballed the "If I Could Turn Back Time" leather outfit . Although I must admit it wasn't quite the same last time with the body stocking and the cankles.

Okay... is the new Cher fabulous or creepy? New cheek implants? Would she burn or melt in a house fire? Discuss.

Farrah's hair and Madonna's "Like a Virgin" outfit. But she's CHER. She can do whatever she wants.

I'd like to time a trip to Vegas to see both Cher and Bette.

Creepy as hale. And I love Cher. I just wish she had stopped with the plastic surgery after 1989.

BombaySapphire3 02-07-2008 09:54 PM

For all the grousing I do about La Nicks I am so grateful she never resorted to all that surgery like Cher has ..she looks more like a cartoon insect now than a human being.

You know, Cher's plastic surgery doesn't scare me half as much as her blonde hair does. Brunette Cher is the best.

I would love to see her live.

Will & Grace did kind of scar my Cher experience, though. I can't think of Cher without hearing Jack go "if i could tuuuuurn back towwwww. toooowwww. toooooooowwwwwww."
