Peter Green photos for box set
Hi,
Does anyone have any previously unseen photos or memorabilia relating to Peter Green? I work for Union Square Music and am putting together a 4CD Peter Green box set, due for release in August. I'm looking for any rare stuff that will make the anthology extra-special. Peter himself has kindly given me a couple of recent photos of himself to use, and has even let me scan some of his drawings to use in the booklet. Any help much appreciated! Cheers, Holly |
Hi Holly,
Thanks forletting us know! :) Got any info about tracklist? Will there be any prev. unreleased stuff?? Daniel |

Will the box set be primarily PG's solo work? |
The Peter Green Anthology
Hi,
The PG box set will span Peter's entire career, from Peter B's Looners to his more recent solo work, via Fleetwood Mac, of course. Peter has had some input as to the tracks he'd like us to use and has made some suggestions. I can't post the final tracklist yet, as we've only just started licensing, but will keep you all posted. Thanks Holly |

Just to offer a suggestion, as far as box sets go, of all the ones I own, the one that sets the standard is Guided By Voices' Hardcore UFOs: Revelations, Epiphanies and Fast Food in the Western Hemispher. These usually sell for about $50-65US. |

But.... Somewhere there must be the complete show where Danny breaks his string and Peter sets off to World Keep On Turning solo (from the "Early Years" video), with perfect quality like in the Peter Green - Man Of The World DVD. And.... It would be VERY nice should Holly be able to lay hands on the concert TV-registration made in Den Haag (Holland), from which part of the Roughage 69 bootleg was taken. I've heard that the original tapes have been destroyed, but who knows........? And.... maybe there is another video recording somewhere in this world? And.... I'd love to hear the Munich recordings. Accoording to the Peter Green - Man Of The World DVD Peter has heard them again and really still likes it. And.... How about this 4 hour Black Magic Woman they played in New York when Jeremy had left and Peter sat in? I'd love to hear that. And.... :wavey::wavey::wavey: |

Oops, forgot to mention: And.... Kolors live video registration from Rockpalast (Germany) or any other. And.... whatever else can be found from both his his "sick" as well as "healthy" years. |

Holly, Could you do something about this copyright issue, seeming you are officially occupied with reissues? Or perhaps Jeremy? I presume you must have some copyright on this????? |

Oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no....
This is baaaaaaaaad........... Not ONE prev. unreleased song! Not one.........:distress: Who the HELL do they think are going to buy this?!?! People unfamiliar with Peter's music would buy a greatest hits CD.. not a 4CD set!!! This box will mainly interest long-time Peter Green fans, and we ALREADY HAVE ALL THIS! Come on ..... a 4CD box set with no unreleased stuff??? It's just too stupid.. I can't look at it no more. What a crappy job Union Square Music and Holly have done!! This is just sooooo sad.....:distress: Peter Green deserves so much better than this. Daniel |

On one hand...this is the first compilation with material from
all the record companies. "Man of the World" etc. didn't have any official CBS material. On the other hand, NO unreleased material, as you all say. And what's up with the track order? Looks like they just put together this at random. "Momma dontcha cry" next to "Underway"?? As much as some of us like the PVK material, most of it can't sit next to the classics. |
Their loss, they don't get prev unreleased stuff for it then they don't get our money.
Kinda glad in one sense there wasn't ONE prev unreleased track as I didn't think this set would be this big and therfore, this wouldn't have been cheap and there's nothing worse than having to buy a big box set like this for one or a couple/few tracks, so this is money wel saved. :) John |

One unreleased track, and I would have bought it! Now, lets all boycott this. |
heavy heart
Dear folks,
Lets be cheerfull about this. They are releasing a four CD set about Peter Green. It spans his carreer, to date (more or less). It has some real good music in it. It is not the difinitive collection.. I dare anyone to make a four CD set that has everything you like about Peter Green, I have no doubt in my mind that there are plenty of hurdles around with useage rights and how much people want for them. Look how long it has been for people we know who have unreleased stuff sitting there. If you threw in PVK, CBS, Clifford Davis, The family of Peter Green, Peter Green, BMI ASCAP, The British Government, Homeland Security and Osama Bin Ladins driver all together, I bet you could have a field day figuring out who made a cost saving compromise. To come in with enough money to even make a limited run. Really how many of us Peter Green crazies are there anyway? 8^) doodyhead |

if peter gets royalties from this we should all buy it because face it, we love the guy. with the proceeds pete can buy paint, new guitar, take a trip to visit his family, or whatever his heart desires. zero |

Who knows what legal difficulties were involved in putting together this, but they could at least have included the rare early 70's solo singles. |

I'd also love to see the booklet with liner notes and photos but buying this set new will probably be pricey so I'll wait awhile and see what it sells for used. |

Does anyone know if there is any explanation for this in the sleeve notes - maybe? I think it is almost blasphemous (hope this is spelled right!) and certainly disrespectful to the works of music. Disc 3 would be particularly hard to listen to - as you mention, dino - emotionally it would be like being in a tumble-dryer. The pictures on the discs seems well-known, so what about the "previously never published photographs"? Hopefully they are in the booklet? Ms Moose |
Advertising: Two more box sets on the way from Salvo - The Move and Peter Green!
Advertising: "... Peter Green The Anthology is an equally exciting 64-track, 4-CD retrospective telling the story of a British guitar legend and blues institution. The set contains essential Peter Green music drawn from all stages of his career. From his first tentative recordings with the likes of Peter Bardens and John Mayall, it moves through the genesis of Fleetwood Mac and the band's many classic blues recordings and rock fusion chart hits - titles like the utterly unique 'Albatross', 'Oh Well' and the ever haunting 'Man Of The World' - are all included, as is the best of his later solo work and Splinter Group recordings.
Through many personal transformations and struggles, Peter Green has lived the blues he so obviously fell in love with at a young age. The body of his work so far is one of the most impressive legacies in the genre and this is his first complete career overview. It also represents the first time that Peter Green himself has had an active involvement in such a project, working closely with Salvo and compiler John Crosby, helping to make this set the ultimate Peter Green collection - a special release befitting a special musician and songwriter who is rightly one of the most revered blues guitarists of all time. To receive further information on these releases please click here and send us your name and email address, adding the word 'Move' or 'Green' after your name." Whatever happened
Whatever happened to all those quotes people provided for the box set a few months ago? Maybe in the detailed booklet.
I have to say the track listing looks very conservative and some of the rarities would have made this a compelling buy. |
