Fleetwood Mac vs. The Who...the classier act
I don't expect anyone to respond to this. Been getting into The Who and was watching THEIR "Live in Boston". Before the Quadraphenia part, Pete talked about what music meant to them growing up, blah blah blah... and during that, Roger remained respectful, looked out at the audience, let Pete talk. Does anyone have the FM bootleg from Landover, MD circa 1997? I'm thinking it was "Dreams" and Lindsey, while Stevie sings, is having a great time with the audience. I love Lindsey and I thought that was cool...yeh...Lindsey, blowing kisses...making contact with the audience...you're the man! But after watching The Who... how crappy that looks. For Beatles fans, Zak Starkey, Ringo's son, now plays drums for The Who. Anyway, just my perspective.

Here's my perspective: Lindsey and Stevie wouldn't front a band called "Fleetwood Mac" if John & Mick were to pass away before them. |
Depends on what era of Fleetwood Mac. During the Harold the Dildo/beer & milk condom days, I'd have to give the Who the edge on classy.

I hate to say it but I'd have to say The Who. It depends what classy means though really.

Does anybody else find this discussion a little pointless?

I love the music of The Who. However by class compared to Fm, Mick and co. win hands down. You were never in any danger in the front row of a FM concert from being hit by a splintered guitar or drum. It was part of Pete's charm to destroy instruments on stage by bashing them to bits.

No, but at a Fleetwood Mac show you are in danger though of being hit by Mick's sweat. *shudders at the memory* Far worse. :distress: |

Doesn't matter, their both dirty swine. |

Plus, basing your entire discussion on two small instances that occurred over a span of 30 years? Que? |

A Belgian that speaks English AND Spanish? This has to be some sort of historical feat. |

Yikes. You probably don't get much accomplished in life if you take everything other people say so seriously.
I was merely saying I find it a little pointless because you are comparing two bands with an entirely different history (or maybe Pete and Roger hooked up back in the day and that is what drove Keith to madness and his ultimate death  ), bands who have been both been around for thirty years, all based on whether a bandmember was interacting with the audience or not while another was doing their standard speech. Quote:

What you have to remember though is that Pete and Roger didn't always get on, you only have to check out any documentary on the band to see how condescending Pete could be about Roger and how disapproving Roger could be about Pete.
Plus, Pete is the leader in that band. He writes the songs, he gets the concepts together, he tells Roger what to sing. It's no wonder Roger acts respectful when Pete wants to speak on stage. |
I guess for me, the discussion is tough because of the volitility of both group's leaders.
Stevie and Lindsey could be singing "Angel" into her mic together and looking like they are in love one night and then on another night, they are mad and mocking each other. Pete and Roger, same thing. Minus the "in love" part. but buddy buddy one night, looking like enemies on another. both bands have such a looooooong history with so many shows under their belts, to try and pick one or two incidents over the years and decide which band is classier is a very broad, hard discussion. Not saying it's not worth having, just a hard discussion. if it came down to it though, Fleetwood Mac wins for one reason alone. Christine McVie. Now that's class. |
