The L Word...
...anyone else going to watch the new season?
|
Pip!
I finally got around to watching the first episode of the current season. As with other seasons it has started a tad slow. In the past I have tolerated Jenny. Now, as a few of my lesbian friends would say out loud, each episode, each time she appeared on screen... Jenny must die. and for Carrie... I still miss Marina  |
I couldn't stand Jenny in that first episode. What a bitch!
|
I can't stand Jenny but I guess that is the point. Her new assistant looks kinda like Jessica Alba but made to look like a plain jane. The second episode sorta picked up. I loved the ending with all the brides maids and the mother of the bride chasing after Shane. I would like to see Bette and Tina work it out but it looks like Tina finally finds a date. Should be interesting. I never was a big fan of Helena but I am coming around. I am enjoying this season so far.

actually, i spent the two weeks before this season started watching the series again and i didn't totally hate marina this time around  but i'm still glad she's gone ;) jenny has become a complete caricature this season and i can't stand it. it's just stupid. "i don't pay you to think"? seriously? that is completely lame. also, i wish bette and jodi would break up so she and tina can get back together already cuz i'm sure that's where it's going. b&j are just completely incompatible and i have no idea what bette is thinking. jodi treated her like **** last week when bette decorated the table for her. DTMFA, bette. also, i'm not quite sure what the whole alice/tasha thing is about either. i get the "opposites attract" thing but when you are so deeply opposed to what your partner is doing, can you really sustain a relationship? i like having the old shane back but i don't really know what the point of last season was if she's just going to go back to being exactly the same. wasn't shay supposed to come in and "shake out shane's life," as kate moennig put it? now she's exactly the same person she always was. oh well, it was hot seeing her fukc all those bridesmaids i guess. oh, i really enjoyed the opening scene of episode 2 though. bette and shane together? hello. tina and shane together? hello. bette and helena together? somebody get rachel shelley a cheeseburger. episode three should be interesting. can't kit catch a ****ing break? :distress: |
why am I still watching this show?
every character, imo, has become such a joke. I just love watching all of Alice, Kit and Bette's scenes though. damnit. can't they just make a spinoff?! the l word - deux or something  |

Pip...I was able to download last night off of mininova. They usually have it available around 10pm PST.
Does anyone else think the ladies at Shebar had something to do with the robbery at the Planet? Hopefully Kit will use her new gun on Jenny. Just how over the top can Jenny get? |

jenny is crazier than ever but i think she is hilllllarious this season. i hate the affair with niki though. narcissism is so gross! re: tasha - i don't know how accurate the actual hearings/procedures are, but yes, people get kicked out of the military all the time for being gay. it's utterly unfathomable in its idiocy. i hate what they've done with alice this season. she's always been flaky but never self-serving. bleh. and why are they wasting pam grier on this show? she has nothing to do but say things ~sassy-like~. |

BTW... love your sig pic... hehe |

...and I agree about Alice. At one time she was the only real life lesbian on the show. Is that still the case? I like how they worked that into Les Girls. They promoted the movie as having only one real life lesbian in order to draw a more mainstream audience. Jenny's assistant is whacko but may do us all a favor and off Jenny. And the prosecuting attorney in the case against Tasha will turn out to also be gay. But don't ask or tell! |

totally agree on molly and shane. yawn. Quote:

OH and can i just say how grossed out i was by the friggin' oil wrestling? we should call ilene chaiken "miss jackson" cuz that **** was nasty. i had to FF through that scene cuz it looked like they were rolling around in piss. ughghg. i'm gonna stay mum on the prosecuting attorney issue till y'all have seen episode 8. but, um, it's kelly mcgillis. homegirl is dyke plus. |

I didn't even realize that was Kelly McGillis. When did she get so, um...old? |
I forgot to say before... I tried to watch ep 8 on ourchart but it's not available outside of the US

'L Word' Ending Run on Showtime LOS ANGELES (March 10) - "The L Word" is set to take its final bow. Showtime has renewed the lesbian drama for a sixth and final season, which will make it one of the premium network's longest-running series. Eight episodes have been ordered, targeted to go into production in early summer for an early 2009 premiere. While past seasons generally have consisted of 12-13 episodes each, Showtime executives and series creator/executive producer Ilene Chaiken believed that eight additional episodes were creatively what was needed to wrap up the story lines. "The L Word" follows a group of Los Angeles-based friends as they navigate careers, families, friendships, personal struggles and romantic relationships. The series became the first lesbian primetime drama on television when it debuted in January 2004. Its stars include Jennifer Beals and Mia Kirshner. Chaiken, who created the series with Kathy Greenberg and Michele Abbott, said the show will live on, interactively. "This is by no means the end of 'The L Word,"' she said. "The brand and the social network community, OurChart.com, will continue to live and be a destination for lesbians everywhere and a lasting tribute to what 'The L Word' has accomplished." She added that fan input will play a part in wrapping up the series' story lines, noting the role that viewer input has played in the past. "The L Word," which received a GLAAD Award for best drama series, also has a big following in virtual world Second Life and has spawned such branded products as perfume, jewelry and books. The Season 5 finale is set to air March 23. |

why only 8 episodes, though? god, i hate ilene chaiken so much. for whom is ourchart a destination? bitch please. what a joke. she's in the march issue of art news talking about the parallels between bette's art world and the real-life LA art scene. gimme a break. |
Leave it to the L word to create so much drama during, of all things, a Breast Cancer Bike Ride.
|
I've really enjoyed this season

I'm glad to see it go. the first couple of seasons were SO GOOD that it pains me to see it become what it has, but, it still is entertaining so I watch it and then bitch about it.
