Is that Karen Johnson with her?

Why does the dog disappear and then re-appear? Ghost dog?

mylittledemon 11-15-2007 11:58 AM

Wow. She looks terrible. I like the one woman trying to cover her face with her boarding pass and passport. Stupid.

Omg Jason- you know when I flew into LAX I was desperately searching for a famous person. *Any* famous person. Jeff and I had a long wait there; can you imagine if I had spotted Stevie?

David 11-15-2007 12:25 PM

Stevie is going on a trip! How exciting!

I know, right? whenever I land in NYC, I'm the same way. when I was in LA earlier this year I did the same thing. I never see anyone though.

with respect to the pictures, I think Stevie still looks amazing for a woman her age and without a stitch of makeup. we should all be so lucky. yeah, she ain't perfectly taut and she's a little splotchy, but damn, give ole girl a break. she looks good.

ETA: David, I should have added these pics are from the end of October, so, they're not exactly recent.

Right. I don't really understand why someone famous would go to an airport completely sans makeup though, but that's just me. I guess it's her right to travel comfortably, just like us average folks.

true. and that she's not flying in a private jet. that's so un-Stevie. but, w/e.

Call me crazy, but I like how she looks in this one. Certainly not the look of a woman that's closing in on 60.

Yep. :wavey: I really love these pictures, despite my hatred for paparazzi shots.

The dog is in the carry bag at all time in the airport unless you are going through the security part. Then, you take the dog out of the carry bag, put the carry bag through the x-ray machine, and carry the dog with you when you walk through the magnatometer. Then, the dog goes back in the bag before you exit security. Most airports are strict about this, which makes sense. Trust me, I've done it a thousand times :)

Also, she needs to get a new outfit :woohoo:

I think she likely only flies the private jets when she is recording or touring. That way the cost is expensed. I sort of am surprised, though, that she is not a member of Netjets or some other share company. In the end though, if she is flying from NYC to LA, the cost difference is about $15,000+ to go commercial.

Mama's wearing a serious coat. Love the doggie sweater.

Thank you. I never thought of that. I wondered if the dog just sat on her lap or how they did it.

Also, tell me -- what's in a lemon drop martini ? (Or what was the name of that drink in the photo thread?)

You know, for someone with her bank account, you think she'd be able to afford a variety of coats.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...5495_image.jpg

She wore the coat in Chicago also. Come to think of it, maybe that was her destination.

I thought the same thing. then, I remembered how much Stevie is a creature of habit. she must love that coat (she probably owns several identical coats) and feels comfortable in it. I know I have 2 jackets that I wear 98% of the time.

True...she does look good for a 60 year old. I'd still make out with her.

They are supposed to stay in their carriers. But, I have had piolts take mine out and play with them. Go figure :)

I think it is Absolut Citron vodka, sugar, and a lemon wedge.

The last time I flew out of LAX, we were sitting in the terminal waiting for our flight back to NYC, but then, from a distance we could spot a rather large old woman being wheeled to our gate. From 50 feet away my friend, who is a HUGE Broadway queen, saw that it was Barbara Cooke. Needless to say, he was a bit starstruck, and she was quite pleasant to chat with. Apparently she lives somewhere on Central Park West. The autographed picture she had promised never materialized, unfortunately.

Another time I flew through LAX, we spotted Grant Shaud, who was best known for playing Murphy Brown's nerdy producer; he was on our flight headed back to NYC. We knew he was kinda washed up, but we were stunned that he was flying coach!

Another time flying out of NYC, we walked by Frankie Nunez (Malcolm in the Middle), who was sitting in first class.

I guess if you are hankering for some good starf**king, I guess the rule of thumb would be to stalk the gates headed to/from Los Angeles or NYC while you are at LAX or JFK/EWR (I've never seen anyone famous at LGA).

It's funny- I am originally from NY and never even thought about seeing anyone famous either when I was flying out of there or any time I've ever flown back home to visit. But then again, I think I use LGA more than any other.

I agree. I'm a NY'er and I fly a few times a year and I love stars as much as the next gal, but somehow it never occurred to me to be 'on the lookout' when I'm at JFK or LGA. Come to think of it, I walk about 10 blocks a day (both ways) from the subway to my office, and it's a rather tony neighborhood where one would think there might be stars and celebs. Never saw a single one yet! Once though, years ago, I saw Yoko Ono in Tiffany's picking out a diamond bracelet.

These candid Stevie airport pics are no big suprise to me. Flying is awful most times, better to be in comfy clothes and not worry about hair and makeup and outfit. It's just going to get all messed up anyway after 6 hours of sitting in a seat- and worse if there are delays.

She is a notorious CU*T. We saw her at, I think, the Carlyle in NYC. We talked to her afterward and, to be nice about it, she was busy

The voice, though, was mind numbing in its clarity - she is indeed an icon.

I met La Lupone one time in NYC and she almost drank my mom's martini. My mother was like "that is mone and you were love AH LEEE in Evita DEAR - - if you NEED one, I'll buy you one, but this one is mine!" Battle of the dragons indeed

Stevie has on her did ya see me at ____LAX (fill in the blank) coat. It's the coat she always wears when she wants you to notice it's really her and that she was at location X on a certain date.

Flying commercial is a nice touch (if she really did so?) Dog prop is always a must see. :p

Hi to you too. :D

When I flew out to L.A in June to see Lindsey, I saw Robert Shapiro the attorney. I was tempted to ask if Delilah by Tom Jones was his favorite song, but alas I refrained.....

I used to be friends with her son. We've lost touch over the years but he was really nice. He introduced us once and she was really sweet. It was really surreal to have the opportunity to say to someone, "hey, I saw in the Weekly that your mom is performing at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday". LOL!

One time a bunch of us went to see Dame Edna. So he said to us, "I hope you guys don't mind but we have to go backstage afterwards. Mom wants me to say hi to Barry". You know, like it's some kind of bother. LOL! I was actually thrilled to meet Barry Humphres because other than being a huge Dame Edna fan, I used to do Rocky Horror and at Halloween we would perform the sequel, Shock Treatment, in which Barry played a very bizarre character called Burt Schnick, and I always played his part.

I'm pretty oblivious to my surroundings as well. And, to be honest, my near sightedness doesn't help matters either. It's my friend BJ who has celebu-dar and hawk-like vision. And he's really nonchalant about it; it's really annoying actually. He spotted tons of celebrities last time we were in LA... all in disguise, of course. Oh, and tons of gay porn stars too, but that's another matter...

In NYC, I have only spotted a handful of people on the street- Mike Myers, Jackie Mason, Lauren Hutton, Eric Nies (MTV's Real World)... not exactly A-list material.

Now, now... claws. retract. I'm sure when she gets up in Barbara Cooke drag, she probably takes on a different, diva-ish persona. In person she was just another fat old lady sitting in a wheelchair. But I have to admit, even though I wouldn't have noticed her on the street, I could tell just by her speaking voice that it was her. Clear as a bell. A force of nature, indeed.

Now, Miss Patti, on the other hand... she has a notorious reputation for being a diva... I've heard horror stories...

An Italian (Sicilian at that  ) from Northpoint, Long Island - of course she is a diva

I have a few stories on La Lupone. In the end, she is hysterical!
