In memoriam...Mr Fish!

My cat Mr Fish just died. Literally. Renee came home from work and Mr Fish was on the back porch puking up what looked like water. We just rushed him to the vet and he died in the car on the way there. WE are in SHOCK! He seemed healthy. Doctor said he probably had a bad heart or something. Weird eh? I feel weird now.

Sarah 09-25-2007 05:17 PM

bretonbanquet 09-25-2007 05:21 PM

Yikes, that's awful! Very sorry to hear that. :distress:

Beachwood Mac 09-25-2007 05:37 PM

Sorry for your loss Brandon.

DrummerDeanna 09-25-2007 05:39 PM

Wow! That is horrible!! I'm really sorry to hear that. :(

Betsy 09-25-2007 05:41 PM

That breaks my heart. Pets are such a big part of the family. You are gonna miss Mr. Fish...looking in the places he liked to be.

When I went to my ghost seminar, they said pets like to come back and be with us. They show up as shadows in the places they used to sit, lie, etc. I saw glimpses of my dog in the first year....now I think I am so busy, I tend to forget about her.

I hope you remember Mr. Fish with a smile.

(I cried for days over Shelbie.... and the burial was in the backyard under her favorite tree.)

mikeschmike 09-25-2007 05:44 PM

That's so sad! I'm sorry man.

Chrislit18 09-25-2007 06:05 PM

Aww :(
:distress:

I was so sad when my cat Kitty died a few years ago, she was my caretaker when I was just a mere baby, but I know how hard it is to loose a precious pet.

Sorry that your kitty has passed on, but remember the good times.

JazmenFlowers 09-25-2007 06:05 PM

that's very sudden and very sad. I'm so sorry.

Thanks guys...Yeah it was weird. I saw him earlier today and I fed him. He was sitting there licking himself. He's been weird the last 3 weeks (since we moved into the new condo) but I didnt think he was sick. He was yacking up when Renee came home from work and it looked like clear snot. He was breathing really hard so we rushed him to the vet. We think he died in the car on the way to the vet. But his head was moving even though Renee couldnt feel him breathing. It was real sad. I'm still in shock. I mean, its totally bizarre. He was the sweetest cat. Let you rub his belly...never clawed at anyone. =L

buckymcnix 09-25-2007 06:25 PM

that sux - bad news -

sorry brandon

gretchen 09-25-2007 07:08 PM

Oh, I am so, so sorry. :( My heart goes out to you. We had to put our sweet doggie Pepper to sleep two weeks ago and it was so heartwrenching...her kidneys were failing and her back legs just gave out. She was 17; my husband had her before we met and she was so loved. We have two other dogs (Sweetie and Bruno), but there is something missing, it's doggie Peppermints. Again, so sorry for the loss of your kitty.

michelle2677 09-25-2007 07:40 PM

:( I'm sorry about your cat. my god, that is so sad :( especially so sudden like that. best wishes to you and renee.

How old was Mr. Fish?

It sounds like congestive heart failure. My dog was 17 - smaller than a cat in size. She had the same symptoms of your cat...difficulty breathing...yacking up stuff.

The vet said it was her age...and her heart couldn't keep up. She was in stress and it was so painful. We had the vet put her to sleep and we held her and took her home, wrapped in her favorite blanket. We saw the biggest rainbow that night on the drive home. It was a double rainbow and arched all the way across the sky.

It was a comfort...like her spirit was still with us...but like the rainbow, the spirit had to fade, and we had to say goodbye.

I hope that you and Renee find some comfort in a symbol or something connected with Mr. Fish. When I see a rainbow, I think of Shelbie and smile. :)

Betsy 09-26-2007 12:47 AM

P.S. Can you post a picture of Mr. Fish?

Mr Fish wasnt even 2 years old. Renee spoke with Ryan (her old roomate that she Fish from) and he said 3 out of the litter died (including Fish).

I have tabby named Mr. Peepers (he plots to take over the world), and a dumb blonde cocker spaniel named Bailey.

Betsy 09-26-2007 10:40 AM

Aww....he was a tiger striped kitty, small. ... and less than 2 years old?

Maybe it was something genetic that ran in his family....?

When pets are alive, we tend to take them for granted...then, when they are gone...it's such a loss and we miss them terribly. I don't envy what you and Renee are going through right now...but know you have friends who feel for you....just read this thread when you are lonely.

Livia 09-26-2007 03:12 PM

It's been a year and a half since I put down my little fur baby, and I still have a hard time getting through these pet loss threads without getting all verklempt. Mr. Fish looks a lot like my Cagie. :(

Betsy, I totally believe what you said about the shadows. I know my kitty comes to visit me often. :)

So sorry, Brandon.

:( I've never lost a pet, well I have but they didn't die, my parents just couldn't take care of them. Anyway, I tell Mufasa all the time how much I love him and how lucky I am he came to live with me and dread the day I lose him. These threads always make me cry. Yes, I'm a mushy mush. Everyone give your pets a squeeze for Mr. Fish.
