Genesis Concert
because chris and a few folks wanted to know how it was...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...o/genesis8.jpg i was lucky enough to see genesis twice in the past week (they did a three night stint in philadelphia). i can tell you, the high level of energy and crowd interaction was really surprising and made me enjoy being there even more. though it's apparent the guys have aged, they (especially phil) did not slow down. phil would bounce from singing at the front of the stage to behind the stage (where he was filmed behind a blue screen to project images onto the really amazing set design) and then behind the drums. i was impressed. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...o/genesis2.jpg the setlist was pretty amazing -- lots of old classics and favorites -- a really good combination. and even if you were a casual genesis fan who only knew a few of the hits from the 80's, i think you could still get into the show. apparently, it hasn't changed since they've been in europe... - Behind the Lines - Duke's End - Turn it on Again - No Son of Mine - Land of Confusion - In the Cage - The Cinema Show - Duke's Travels - Afterglow - Hold On My Heart - Home by the Sea - Second Home by the Sea - Follow You Follow Me - Firth of Fifth - I Know What I Like - Mama - Ripples - Throwing it all Away - Domino - Drum Duet - Los Endos - Tonight Tonight Tonight - Invisible Touch - I Can't Dance - The Carpet Crawlers http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...o/genesis4.jpg standouts for me were home by the sea/second home by the sea, mama, ripples, and domino apart from the obvious radio hits. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...o/genesis7.jpg if you're able to go see them, do it because although at their press conference before they left for tour the possibility of reuniting with gabriel seemed likely, phil collins pretty much said, thanks for three great nights. see you, philadelphia. we probably won't be back again ever. |
The stage setup looks sick to death.
How close were you? Looks like you were right under his feet! :o |
i am not a genesis fan. but did you have a good time?

Genesis is a band that I generally can't stand; however, ONE of their albums is among my favorites of all time: abacab. I can't believe they didn't play a single thing from it! Still, I have to admit that the setlist is otherwise pretty cool- the cheese factor, e.g., "I Can't Dance" is surprisingly low.

I can't believe they didn't play anything from Abacab! I'm glad you had a good time Marissa. LOLs at Phil Collins checking you when you were texting. Lucky girl, you got see them three nights. I think I would fall over dead if they said they were going to reunite with Peter Gabriel. The stage set up does look sick. Thank for the review, pictures and setlist. :wavey:

Those are great pics! I live in the Philly area, I wish so bad I could have gone to a show. reuniting with Peter would be interesting. I love both eras, both peter and Phil brought something special to Genesis. They defenetely are classic!!!!
