Oh I LOVE those things. The chips, not Mr. T graphics.

I used to get them at this great deli in Rochester. Oh how I miss it.

And oh how I long for my little bag of popcorn. I ate it all.

No more popcorn. :distress:

amber 09-20-2007 07:57 PM

I was eating popcorn at the EXACT TIME the other thread was going on. Some kind of crazy concordance of the fractels of the space-time (~*Timespace!*~) continuum, as seen from The Ledge through the vacuum created by my popcorn bag, which allows all possibly universi to exist at once, with the same happenstance occurring in each.

Don't worry if you aren't as learned in the workings of science as I am. :wavey: Also, if you think I made up some of those words, I didn't!!

Edit: and for the record, to get the time, we always dialed 7678900. I have no idea if that is popcorn, and am waaaay too lazy to walk four feet to my phone and figure it out. The popcorn I ate lowered my blood sugar too much.

Wait until you read my edited version! Also, just so you know, your nose is a parallel universe portal into my house 2 days from now, coincidentally when I am very, very thirsty. So I'd like to thank you in advance for the delicious Sprite. Stevie's nose hole is so big that hers reaches a parallel universe into the entire Middle Ages. That's why she's so britishy and whimsical and stuff. Also that is why she has The Plague. I hope her festering buboes go away soon.

I'm surprised you don't know these things, Carrie, I thought you were good at science. I guess I'm beyond the common mind.

I had that same small bag of popcorn. I wanted more when it was gone, too. I want the butteryest one, so I had to sacrifice and get the "snack size" bags, so in order not to consume 50,000 calories and 100 grams of fat in popcorn each day.

Richard B 09-20-2007 08:09 PM

Strange.
I ate popcorn today and I never really do. Maybe once a year. I like popcorn but it is a high maintenance food as it gets stuck in my teeth. Not worth bothering about.

As for Popcorn/Time, I'm not surprised it is no longer available. Plenty of ways to get real time. Just look at your cell phone or online time.

Although you never really had to dial P-O-P-C-O-R-N. You could just dial 767 and then any other 4 digits. The entire prefix was blocked for time. So dial 767-f*uck would get you the time, at least before the service ended.

It's because of the portal I ripped in the space-time continuum, which made all happenstances (i.e, anything popcorn related) occur at once. Sorry about that.

No worries. I faired pretty well considering the circumstances. In fact, not one morsel got stuck in my teeth.

Ever eat those nasty ass popcorn flavored Jelly Belly's? It tastes like popcorn, but it gets real nasty when you're still chewing it long after a real popcorn would be done. Yuck.

Yes, I hate those bellies. I still would eat them, though, if they were the only thing. Just like watermelon flavored candy.

I like day-old popcorn. I'll pop a bag, dump it all into a ziploc and stash it in a cupboard for a night. Mmmm.

I've done that too, but not on purpose. Now I've discovered re-heating cold popcorn in my oven.
It must be the same thing as why I love cold, congealed pizza. It's the congealed part that adds extra goodness. And it is much more tidy then all that dripping greasy ooze that melty fat bestows upon your fingers.

Oh man. I love pizza that's been in the fridge for like 30-40 minutes. When it's not quite cold, but it's nice and lukewarm and doesn't get all over the place. That's when it tastes best to me.

Oddly, that stage kind of grosses me out. I think because the grease is semi clear colored, as opposed to clear (when hot) or blended (when cold).
But of course, in the abstract, I see its appeal. Also, I've eaten it that way a million times. Just 'cause I say something is gross, doesn't mean I won't eat it.

Now that I think, you are right. I like when the top grease is solid, but the sauce underneath is still vaguely warm. I stand corrected. Also, it's fricking pizza. It will pretty much always taste good.

how does everyone feel about cracker jacks? please weigh in on this very important matter.

amber 09-20-2007 09:26 PM

I went to get CJ at Safeway, cause their website said it was on sale. Turns out, that didn't mean my Safeway, but a bigger one up the way. I threw a small fit. They didn't have any CJ.
It is obviously one of the most perfect sweet snacky treats. The inclusion of nuts is sublime.

P.S. the giant bug on the phone in your sig kind of freaks me out. Luckily, the colors are pretty, so I shan't hurleth.

I feel that the workers in the Cracker Jack factory need to break a part the popcorn better for easier eating. And less nuts, please.

I enjoy Cracker Jack (mainly because I love caramel corn), but I'm disappointed in their recent prizes. All I got last time was a George Washington fold-out and fact sheet.

I was extremely (EXTREMELY) miffed that they no longer sell Cracker Jacks in a box at the ball park. What a ripoff. What's worse is the "prizes" are the biggest pieces of **** ever now.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

I miss the Cracker Jacks of old...box and toy that isn't a piece of paper with a joke on it.

The nuts are the perfect juxtaposition of salty with sweet, protein with sugar. The nuts make the crackerjack. Crackerjack is just popcorn without the nuts.

Dali is probably my favorite. But not so much this one. My favorite is the one I have of a woman, and her head is breaking apart into many different bubbles, yet it is still recognizable and beautiful. It's like a woman's head being exploded into awesome bubbles, I'm sure you have seen it.
I do love hoity toity quotes, though, so I was right there with ya.

So as to be keeping it real, your quote with pic is great. Also keeping it real, I didn't know that was Dali, but admired the point none the less.

Oh yeah - the bag we got had no nuts either. Ok - I'm lying. It had two. Seriously. Two.

And I hear ya on those ballpark folk - I made the mistake of taking my hamburger back (as much as I like meat - I don't like it when the thing is still mooing as I'm biting into it) and the dude stared at me for what seemed like 5 minutes. I thought he was going to throw the burger at me

Look, the only way to go with popcorn is the truffled variety. Air popped popcorn, butter, sea salt and white truffle oil. If you're feeling extra fancy, kick in some pepper and parmesan cheese. Man, I have eaten more food than God tonight and now I want popcorn.

God doesn't need food. The proper term is: "I've eaten more food than Amber tonight, and I still want popcorn!"

Do truffles grow like lemons in Canada? It seems like it, cause you always say truffle oil should go on everything. I've never even seen truffle oil in our stores. Is it some kind of French thing? *sings* "There's no Cana-DA like French Cana-DA, it's the best CanaDA in the world!...I think you'd understand... I know you'd understand!..."

have you heard about the disease they are calling popcorn lung?, it has happened to alot of wrkers who make microwave popcorn & to 1 guy who eats 2-3 bags a day~ it gives you something similar to lung cancer & is most of the time incurable~ the news did a story on it last week~

anyway, when we have power outages (and they happen a lot when it snows) I have to go around and reset all the digital clocks and I like to know the exact time. so, if my cell is not powered up, or I dont have a "time" website bookmarked, which now I dont because I wiped my harddrive clean last month, I didnt know where else to turn.

I guess I really wanted to see if there was some reason for the discontinuance. Perhaps it was snack food overload....
