Stevie's Wikipedia Article

Stevie's article was pretty awful for a while. All unorganized and shyt.

Over this past week I revamped it, organized it a little bit better and added some stuff about the new charity.

The only thing is, in the update, I lost all the footnotes and sources. So if someone could help me site some facts in the article, I'd greatly appreciate it.

ALSO: If someone has an incredible picture of Stevie they took themselves, please post it.

Here is a really good one that I cropped. I think it's a great picture. I was really surprised when it came out as good as it did.

You could always just go back in the edit history & copy and paste all the citations that were lost.

David 09-01-2007 01:00 PM

I tried making some integral edits to the information & the prose awhile back, but one of you dern fools came along & edited my edits -- & got the data wrong again!

So I'm finished helping out with the damn thing.:mad:

I'm tired of trying to update it too. it looked fine the way it was, I thought and I like the order it was in - it was much easier to read. I spent almost a month uploading album pictures and updating information earlier this year and then someone came in and ****ed it up so since then I just gave up.

I did the same thing about a year and a half a go wtih the album art. One day I came back, and all of it was gone. I don't know why they took all of it down.

And for everyone who's edits have been lost, I didn't change any of the information, just moved it around.

I was just reading the Wikipedia info, there are still some minor errors here and there.
The "Stevie Nicks In Concert" show originally aired on HBO in 1982 and was released on VHS and Beta in 1983.
The "Rock A Little" tour wasn't 1985-1986, it started in the spring of '86 after the release of "I Can't Wait". MTV was all over the videos and tour dates.
The songs on "Timespace" were remixed in addition to being remastered. Remastering happens any time an album is re-issued. Remixing on the other hand requires going into the studio and pulling the tracks apart and literally re-mixing them.
I don't think "Enchanted" and "Destiny" go back to the BN days. They do go back to at least circa 1982.
"It's Late" from "Enchanted" was one of the unreleased demos along with "Sweet Girl", and "Twisted". "Reconsider Me" was released to radio as a single. "Edge Of Seventeen" from "Enchanted" was originally released as a promo only single to radio in 1981.
"Planets Of The Universe" was widely known to fans as "No Light" prior to getting the official release on TISL.
"Frozen Love" wasn't technically written as a collaboration between Stevie and Lindsey. She wrote it, but she gave him half credit for the his guitar solo in the middle.
The "Fleetwood Mac" album took almost a full year of being on the charts before hitting #1.
"Mirage" was #1 on the album charts for five weeks.
The "Mirage" concert performance originally aired on Showtime and was later issued on VHS.
"The Dance" tour was not recorded for release. The album and video were recorded specifically for the release. It was originally supposed to be an MTV Unplugged performance (just like The Eagles' "Hell Freezes Over") thus all the "classics" being performed. Lindsey wanted to do more album cuts, but the label and the network wanted the hits. During rehearsals for the show, the band decided they couldn't do an entire acoustic show. So they plugged in. Only "Say You Love Me", "Landslide", "Go Insane" and "Big Love" retained the acoustic arrangements.
"Silver Springs" was dropped from "Rumours" because of time restraints, however vinyl could fit roughly 15 mins per side before losing sound quality. If you could fit 24 mins per side as stated in the article, "Springs" would have fit fine as there would be room for a 48 min album. Most single vinyl albums run about 30-35 mins.

These are mostly little nit pick things, if I knew how to edit the article I would. But these are the errors that stood out to me.

Stevie said she wrote Destiny back in the early '70s when she & Buckingham had already moved to Southern CA. She said she went back to the Bay Area to visit her parents, & fell in love with someone & thought seriously about staying with him & not returning to L.A. The poor dear was probably spent.

So Destiny predates Enchanted as a song-song by about a decade. I also sense Buckingham's assistance in the chord progression on it. It follows the "rules."

(Then again, so does After the Glitter Fades.)

Mirage was orginally aired on HBO, Not showtime...

I didnt know Stevie ever had breast implants !!!

But you did a really good job Liam, it does seem much more orginized, and easier to read.

The article is missing something quite important.

WHERE IS ELISECIA WRIGHT?

I would hardly call Nightbird a hit single...

Depends on how you look at it. Considering it hit #33 on the hot 100 - I think if it hit that chart and it lands within the top 40 - it's considered a hit.

The "longevity" pendant is Cartier, not Tiffany.

Josh2003 09-04-2007 07:08 PM

I think it would make more sense to list the albums chronologically, rather than grouping all the solo albums first, followed by her FM albums.

Thats how it was before. It was a huge mess. I think this is the safest way to go for now.

But if it's supposed to be Stevie's biography, shouldn't it maybe go in order?

It is Stevie's biography, not Fleetwood Mac's. Her solo albums should go first, that makes the most sense.

I don't think her FM albums should go first either...I just think that things should be listed in the order in which they occurred. Example: Tusk tour, followed by Stevie recording Bella Donna, which she had a brief tour to support, cut short by having to rejoin FM to record Mirage, etc. Why divide things into two timelines that occurred simultaneously?

I agree, I thought the same thing. With it seperated like that it sort of reads like that God awful piece of **** book "Read Between My Lines". The Wikipedia thing was a lot easier to follow than that book, but for someone who may not know Stevie's timeline it gets a little confusing because you have to reference back to the beginning and her solo albums for some things.

I disagree. I don't think any casual fan would know it. I would even go as far as saying people would know Whole Lotta Trouble more and that didn't even chart.

I agree, a casual fan probably wouldn't. I don't think a casual fan would know Whole Lotta Trouble either... Maybe they would because Whole Lotta Trouble was played in concert. But still, with single sales and airplay, Nighbird did chart on a hits driven chart - which indicates a hit albeit moderate.
