Oh My

I actually saw this while it was happening. We don't have cable TV and are limited on certain nights, unfortunately. I almost died when I watched this- I didn't even tell anyone about it because I didn't think anyone would believe me:

LiamMcConville 08-26-2007 08:29 PM

rbs3676 08-26-2007 08:31 PM

well what a relief  let's just hope she can get by on her looks for the rest of her life. Lord knows she's gonna need them.

WildInTheWind 08-26-2007 09:39 PM

Wow. That was the funniest thing I've seen all day.

Richard B 08-26-2007 09:42 PM

I didn't think there were, either, until I found a couple of choice comments from vrede420:
  • They wear the sashes in case they forget what state they are from.

  • From her bio. (really):
"Ultimately Caitlin aspires to create special effects for television..."
    - Did she ever!

And one from LilGeorgiesMom, which may just say it all:

nailed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarah 08-27-2007 12:29 AM

freakin' moron. shut up and put your swimsuit back on. that's all that really matters in those competitions.

The Catdancer 08-27-2007 05:43 AM

What???

sara1998 08-27-2007 07:18 AM

Wow. :distress:
Mommy had her in too many pagents and not enough tutoring as a child...

gldstwmn 08-27-2007 12:20 PM

The lights are on but no one's home.

JazmenFlowers 08-27-2007 01:09 PM

I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

BTFLCHLD 08-27-2007 01:16 PM

wow...top five!

Mad4stevie 08-27-2007 08:15 PM

Working in the education field, I wish I could say I am surprised :distress:

I teach at the college level and it is absolutely shocking how little these kids know about life in general. One kid I had in class didn't understand how to calculate a percentage or use decimal points!

Now this "teen queen" girl, she sounds like someone coached her to say specific things regardless of what the question was like "I personally believe that US/Americans are unable to do so . . ." and then she is lost from that point on.

What I don't understand is how the hell South Africa had anything to do with this question? I mean, how do you make that kind of leap?

BlackWidow 08-27-2007 08:25 PM

Oh Dear....

Someone probably coached her to talk about Iraq, Africa, the poor, world peace....no matter what the question was.

Mario Lopez is even looking at her like she's nuts.

Sarah 08-27-2007 11:55 PM

we laughed about this at work all day. then, when i got home, it was on TV. my sister and brother-in-law were visiting, and were like, "have you SEEN that?" ... they said they'd been laughing about it all day as well.

it's really quite sad, because there are so many morons out there just like this... but it's funny because it's so blatant. the poor girl is probably embarrassed as hell.

the "such as" kills me. i think it's because i don't have a map.

I agree with you. I think all she could think of was the coaching to talk about current events and that was all she could come up with. I think she may have even said "Osama" or "Obama" which is even funnier.

UnwindedDreams 08-28-2007 06:44 AM

She was just on Today. She said she was so nervous and only heard about 2 or 3 words and she just didn't know what to say.

Exactly. And really, it wasn't even that difficult a question- she could have answered it in any number of ways.
