Whitney's voice is back

As I predicted, though she has had years of abuse, her instrument is from God. It clearly is back and in good form for her age.

So, I am looking forward to her new album if this is any indication. I hope she stays well.

BlackWidow 08-13-2007 10:19 AM

Will she be accepted back? Not sure.

America loves a comeback - Look at Liza and her mother.

I think the key to this comeback is for WH to display humility, say very little, and knock them dead with her voice and a killer song. if the material is mediocre, then it will be less of a comeback. I strongly suggest she cover a standard like My Heart Will Go On (though not that song) with a powerhouse vocal and then have a kicks ass club remix. Also, kick the obviously fake black ghetto BS.

I do not think the majority of people hate her. Rather, I think they find her tragic.

JazmenFlowers 08-13-2007 10:28 AM

but do you think this clip really shows that her voice is "back"? I mean, she sounds fine, but there's nothing in the clip that screams "oh my god, she's hitting the notes and belting again!" to me. a lot of this is falsetto and CeCe so it may be hard for me to discern. I really, really want my Whitney back and ITA with your suggestion as to how she can do that, I'm just not seeing it from this clip.

BlackWidow 08-13-2007 10:30 AM

It will depend on her humility...I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.

I think she is singing in a strong manner. But, I agree the clip is not solid proof. Many think she cannot still sing at all, which this clip def. negates. I think that if she sang a ballad in the voice I hear in the clip, her voice would be considered as back. Only time will tell though.

gldstwmn 08-14-2007 01:16 AM

It's a miracle she can sing at all. She is clearly staying in her comfort zone here. Baby steps. I hope she has stopped smoking.

shebop 08-14-2007 02:00 AM

There have been pictures of Whitney with Bobby in the news this week so I wouldn't count on anything......

They were putting the kids in school. Hopefully, it was nothing more.

Holy ****, why are all these fire engines zooming past our house? Did the mall catch on fire?

Nevermind, it's just Whitney.

I hope Whitney can make a successful comeback. At one point, she did have the best voice in pop music in terms of range and versatility. But it's hard say how much drugs have ravaged her voice. You could really notice how nasal her voice had become on her last two albums.

since when is she an underdog? she's about as "in your face" as a person can get

I used to like her when she was merely a top notch singer, but when she became a DIVA (thank you very much) she lost her appeal in my book. If as Jason says, she showed a little humility, I'd probably re-think my opinion. But, since I highly doubt she'd do that, I dont think I have to revise anything anytime soon....

i think her drug troubles, marital problems, and non-existent career make her an underdog in the eyes of many, even if those issues were brought on by her own doing.

okay.........I just dont see her as an underdog. She's got $$$, she's got talent, and she's hopefully got her life back on track.

I dont see her "comeback" in the same vein as say Tina Turner, or even Cher.

I actually dont see a comeback at all, but then, time will tell eh?

i think she's an underdog because she's alienated so many fans ... so in that respect if she makes another record and it sells big, it'll be a comeback.

but yeah, we'll see.

wait: an "underdog" doesnt alienate their fans.....and underdog is underappreciated. I think we can all agree Whitney WAS appreciated and she blew everyone OFF! she was too freaking good for her fans. She was a DEEEVA. ARGH.

However, if she does manage a comeback, and she does it with humility and gratitude, then my hat's off to her.

Hehehe. I can't stand her either. One word: yuck.

A friend of mine knows her all too well. He worked in concert promotion for her and she was simply unreliable and the stories he told me about her cracked me up. Yea, crack. Regradless of the dirt, I never liked her music.

The little love is awesome! He just turned 1 year old on Saturday. I'm madly working on his comic strip. I hope it turns out well...it's a comic strip, with a serious edge. So move over Grimmy and Marmaduke, your gonna get your asses kicked.

How's your pups? I think you have dogs too...yes?

They teach humility in rehab. Hopefully she learned something.

Humility is a state of grace..a choice...not sure it can be "taught"
