Best/Worst Experience at a Stevie Concert
Okay guys, it's story time. Tell us your best or worst experience at a Stevie concert. Now, this is not meant to be a Stevie bashing thread. I'm thinking of bad experiences at a show for reasons unrelated to Stevie herself. I thought this would make for an interesting thread.
Okay, here's mine. My best times were just seeing Stevie. I've never had a chance to meet her or even get tickets on the floor, I always end up way far. But I've always enjoyed the shows. But the worst experience I've ever had was at the Pittsburgh Street Angel show. I went with two friends of mine who would not stop talking the whole show. "Is she gonna sing Gypsy?", "What song is this?", "Why won't she sing Gypsy???", "oooh, is this Gypsy? No, it's not, does she ever do Gypsy anymore?" I'm not even exaggerating. I finally blew up at them and told them to shut up and then they spent the rest of the time brooding. Then, the people in front of me just to the right all decided to stand up, as most people do at rock concerts, and dance in their seat. So I got up too. Then this nasty guy a few rows behind me started yelling at me to sit down. So I begrudgingly sat down but more and more people started standing up in front of me to the point where half the stage was blocked from my view, and if you've ever tried to look at something far away when something close was obstructing your view you know that it can go so far as to be headache inducing, so I stood up. Well, the guy behind me threw a fit and started yelling. I turned around and said, "people are standing up in front of me, I can't help it". But he didn't care, he yelled some more, then he started throwing things at me. At first it was garbage, empty food wrappers and wadded up balls of newspapers or whatever he had laying around. Then he threw a half-eaten hot dog at me! I swear, I'm not making this up. Then when we were leaving me friend was saying how he was being a real jerk and then she stopped and looked at me in horror. "What?" I said. She looked at me in disbelief and said, "that man just spat on you". I thought she was mistaken but when I took off my jacket there was a huge nasty loogie on the back. Can you believe that? I was really upset. |
the best story?, i have many, just seeing her is awesome!!!~
worst story, during the RAL show i saw, during her edge walk, there was a guy going behind all the reaching girls & squeezing their boobs:lol:, just 1 quick squeeze ~ i swear to god:eek: & i saw this & tried to move, but stevie came right in front of me & the guy right behind~ hell i prostituted myself for a hand shake w/ stevie nicks & she said i love you back to me~ the guy...well he went right on to the next girl:shocked: ~ |
i have never had a bad stevie concert experience. kathy

Well, this is fun
Let's see...two in the not so great category come to mind and it totally has nothing to do with Stevie or Stevie-fans, for that matter.
The most recent is Jones Beach. That was, without a doubt, the concert with the absolute worst weather conditions (well, from the ones I've been to). I have been there when it's been so cold you needed a winter jacket, but I dressed (in layers!), had gloves on and still...standing there with your pants hiked up and barefoot in water for more than half the show while the wind is whipping everything around was tough. I have to say, though, that it's already sort of become a badge of honor to say "I survived Jones Beach 2007" and the bone-chilling cold is sort of a distant memory. The other time was my first Stevie concert--opening night of the TISL tour in Pittsburgh. A lovely Ledge lady and her husband drove me from the city to the venue (hi, Lori!) We were supposed to meet up at the concession stand after, not realizing there were about six of them and we were standing at the wrong ones (and I don't think she had a cell phone--that was part of the problem). I then made my way over to the (massive) parking lot and was lost for about 45 minutes, I think. Here I was, at least an hour from the city (one I had never been to before), 11 hours away from home...I don't drive, don't know much about cars, don't know squat about Pittsburgh and I lost my friends! I finally hung out near the security booth and they finally found me but I was absolutely scared to death. And, yet, that's also one of my favorite Stevie experiences because the concert was awesome and we got to hear the warm up ...there were at least six Ledge folk standing around in the parking lot WAY BEFORE the show, and we heard her sing the opening lines of Planets of the Universe...and it felt very special to be the first people ever to hear that live. And then, when she sang Everyday during the concert...there was this massive roar that spontaneously erupted after she sang "it cures the silence" that I will never forget. It was just joyous. |

I think that might be my favorite concert experience as well :wavey: |
Heehee
Especially since you were the one who first recognized Planets!
That was a fun one, wasn't it? We were just standing there like we had just discovered the New World or something. Back in the good old days when Stevie did new material;-) |
Besides the shows where I got to meet her, the recent favorite was in Vegas when she did BATB. (One of my Favs song from way back) and everyone was curteous and quiet. no. "I love you Stevie" yells to ruin the mood.
Worst was (Take your pick) when the SS/Ghetapo security don't "get" the edgewalk and act like assholes. I don't go up anymore as I have done it numerous times, touched her hand...etc and want others to get a chance to do it without my big butt blocking them. |
I've only been to one show and Stevie was great!! People watching was great too! It was Jason (Greta Garbo) and my first Stevie show together so that was cute!
The worst part was having to sit thru Vanessa Carlton's set - and I was broke and unable to purchase golden beverages... |
oh wow I went to so many, ok, At any Stevie shows. The dam drunks, Talkers especialy through BATB,Cellphones ringing away at the wrong time.people with BO.hahaha.arrogant security gaurds,Stevie pointed that problem in 1989 on the OSOTM tour at lake compounce Bristol CT.Oh Faves, All of them, especialy this years tour. I got a chance to shake my idols hand a couple of times.Wow.

My favorite was Vegas in May of 2005. It was my first Stevie solo show and the first time I touched her! It was amazing! And Beauty and the Beast was stunning! And she really rocked that show! It was the friday night show...
My worst experience was in July of 2005 during the goold dust tour. This lady would not stop bugging me and would not shut up. I was taking pictures and she kept telling me to send them to her. In the middle or Beauty and the Beast, she was telling her email address and writing it on my hand. It sucked! The worst part was that my camera broke and I didn't have one picture to show for the whole evening. So, I was pissed because I thought I got some great pictures, and I ended up with nothing. But I still have great memories from that show. This last February when she was in florida for the super bowl, I was at the tampa show. The weather was amazing (like 65 degrees and breezy) and it just a really fun time. However, there was a crazy man with ADD in front of me who would not stop fidgeting. I think he was on crack! It was so annoying. And, I was harassed by a security guard. But when doesn't that happpen? |
I have never really had a bad one...
And I have had 2 great ones!!!! First, when I saw her for this time during the Rock A Little tour at Red Rocks. This was the show that the DVD was filmed. Rushing the stage, and getting in the DVD!! Second, when she played Chicago during the Enchanted Tour and I went backstage and not only met her, but talked to her for about 30 minutes. Also, during the BTM Tour w/ Mac I had front row at Red Rocks, and got to give her a rose. |
Best:
Shaking her hand for the first time in Vegas!!! Looking into her eyes and her flashing that big smile of hers was like looking into my own mother's face, such warmth and sincerity it was magic. One time I went to a show without tickets. I was at the ticket counter and just handed the agent my cc when a woman came up to me and asked if i wanted her tickets, no charge, i was kinda skeptical but my friend was like yes we will take them, so we did and they were decent seats too. Maybe stevie was working her magig for me that night. : - )Worst? I guess that would be the TISL tour. I did not even think of checking that day but she canceled the show due to ilness so we drove all the way to the venue not knowing until we got there. |
worst: up-close view of the stage make-up at golddust/vegas.
best: soboba |
Best: Wild Heart Tour / Mirage Tour / Enchanted Tour
Worst: Dreams Tour - Opening Night in Vegas |
My two experiences seeing Stevie were great. At TISL in Pittsburgh, everyone was so into it, and I got to shake her hand! The only thing that put any sort of tear in the night was some lady stood RIGHT behind me for about an hour. I was standing, and I turned around and this lady was just standing there in front of my seat, and she wouldn't move. Not that it matters, because I stood the whole time anyway, but if I wanted to sit down I wouldn't have been able to unless I told her to beat it. Say You Will in Pittsburgh was great as well...front row seats. I couldn't believe it. Lindsey kept interacting with me (I was on his side of the stage). Only thing there was security kept everyone about three feet from the stage. But both were great experiences.
To give a bad experience, I will go by my parents' story of seeing her in Pittsburgh in '94. Apparently the crowd was really rowdy, and at one point (probably during Edge) they began throwing the pit chairs at each other. My mother had to run out of the way since she's so little. Then, my dad had bought this HUGE stuffed bear for Stevie, and apparently she didn't do much of an Edge walk at that concert. She didn't even come down to where he was, so he just sat the bear on the stage. |

Best... every show I have been to at the Borgata because all of my friend and I end up getting awesome seats up front and all together
Worst...for concerts in General...when I get singled out to sit down because I am tall. now I am 6 foot 4 and I will be considerate and sit (EVEN THOUGH IT KILLS ME!) if everyone else is sitting around me. but when everyone else is standing and I get yelled at because I am tall that just bites the big one! I try my best to slouch down and stuff to be nice and all... one time when I finally got up to the front of the stage for the Edge walk, this lady asked me if I would move from against the stage so she could be against the stage instead because I was so tall...I felt bad, but I said no because I did pay for a front row seat in that case and I was ready all night to pounce at the very spot that I had gotten at the stage! |
seeker007nmss what shows did you meet stevie at? did she sign any pictures for you?

Here it is with much more interesting ones: http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=19891 |
best- last year I flew to Albuquerque. Had front row seats, and my dad made friends w/security, so a group of about 5 of us were the only ones allowed to dance at la nicks' feet all night. And touch her hand. And later that night, a security guy called to say he got me Stevie's actual setlist.
worst-chastain this year. 3rd row seat and security man handled us, so no edge rush. |

The best was in Baton Rouge for the RAL tour when she nearly fell on top of me because I was holding her hand when the crowd pushed me down. Her ring nearly came off in my hand and I let her hand go and she said something like she was sorry as I fell. It was WAY intense. |
So what I've read here. I guest this Chastain place sucks alltogether.

The thing is the City of Atlanta runs it, which means it has been neglected for a decade or longer. The neighborhood HATES it because of the traffic, though the vast majority of people moved there knowing it was there and what goes on. Finally, the security staff is volunteer, so they could give shiitte and IMO enjoy their little pseudo power trip. HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT. And, the thing is, with a little effort by the city and a little bending by the neighborhood association, it could be one of the nicer venues in the South as it is in the middle of the city in a lovely park. |
