Wikipedia - tour with Christine?
Having taken a look at the F Mac page on Wikipedia, I was surprised to note the following quote.
In interviews given in November 2006 to support his Under the Skin solo album, Buckingham stated that plans for the band (including Christine) to reunite once more for a 2008 tour were still in the cards. I added a "citation needed" tag but I'm curious. Where has Lindsey said this? I've combed the interviews on fleetwoodmac-uk.com and found nothing so far. Can anyone enlighten me? |
Ok, so first Stevie, then Lindsey mentions the willing to get Christine again.. I think they are pressuring her to accept,

I'd rather they just officially announced their break-up than toured or recorded half-heartedly. Other bands will give us an album every three years at max these days, and if there was a gap of longer than five years... Having said that if they were doing it, I wouldn't say no to a ticket as I've only seen the SYW line-up. |

omg. i hope you are jesting. (is jesting a word?) fleetwood mac DID reunite already - christine included. it was called the dance. album and tour. huge money. new fans. huge money. whoo hoo. how could they stage another "reunion" 10/11 years later without being the subject of ridicule and cynicism? |
jesting is a word
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/jesting :) sorry I had to  I would have to say-I really don't want it to sound selfish-but I would basically hate to never see any line up tour again. And as a new fan, it would be so great to see Chris come back, even if it was just for another album. I think that most fans do feel this way, but we do have to consider all of thier feelings in this. Both Lindsey and Stevie seem to be happy doing thier own thing [god I feel like I've writen this before...], and Mick seems pretty happy with his wine buisiness [although I bet hed prefer the FMac big bucks], and John is just probably off on his boat somewhere. Chris seems content where she is now in life too. Money would be the main attraction for Mick, John and Chris at LEAST! I mean Stevie had pulled in a bunch of money with CV [probably the average for a Greatest Hits album], and Lindsey just seems so happy now. and I think I have heard this in an interview before-Stevie said it-he gets more money cause he's a producer? [its probably true whether she said it or not], plus one of thier albums must sell everyday somewhere, and they get royalties no matter what. But its not like any of them would ever have to worry about cash again. [unless thier spending it unwisely, but we wouldnt expect that now would we O.o] Cat-of course theyd get ridicule. They still do just because Bill Clinton reintroduced them to the public in the early 90s . Anything anybody does today thats publisized goes under scrutney [spelt right??], but I dont think that they should care, or should any of thier fans I heard on Buckinghamnicks.nets message board, that someone at a Lindsey show who talked to him, said that Lindsey said [hearsay...oh well] that FM would hopefully be back in 08. I forgot if there was a mention of Chris or not... but either way, any Mac is welcomed :) |

people seem to forget Christine has the most hits.... in other words.. everytime you hear don't stop (released twice) little lies, everywhere, you make lovin fun, say you love me, over my head, hold me, think about me, love in store, as long as you follow, save me... .she gets the royalty check..... little lies was played 5555559390939023909239039 times in the from 87 to 99.... don't stop was play 49092390939939999999999993993939 times from 77 til 2000.... i researched this.... Christine does not need or desire any more money... she's not elton john, but again... no way does she tour for anything other than wanting to give the fans and her old band one more go around.... anyone that thinks otherwise will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law |
Thats true come to think of it
I was half thinking about that myself she had the most singles released Stevie had-Rhiannon, Dreams, Sara, Gypsy, and Seven Wonders, then SS and Landslide in 97. Lindz had Blue Letter but royalties goto the dudes who wrote it lol. GOYW, Tusk, and Big Love. thats it. people think he had stuff to do with DS and HM which he didnt. only the vocals. [that eerks me when people think that...]. So your right jbrownsjr, Chris would get the most royalty money over all [but here i hear Dreams the most...just saying], so she wouldnt need to do it for the money. shed have to do it because she wanted to for the 'fun of it' or something along those lines. And just think of all the publicity Songbird got when TomKat used it as thier wedding song  when was Dont Stop released the second time? It said on Wikipedia that for Rumours it went GOYW, Dreams, Dont Stop, The Chain, YMLF, GDW etc. but it never said 'Dont Stop' a second time. and all of them get royalties for the chian, which is probably the third most played here anyways... |
What does Wikipedia know?
I somehow ended up on the french version which had her down as "chanteur americain" I changed this to "chanteur anglais" but technically it should have been "chanteuse anglaise" I don't think Lindsey has ever said they might tour again with Christine. surely there would not be room on stage for all of them plus the testosterone? Chris doesn't need the money. Mick & John aren't in her financial realm, so to speak. She could probably live on her Rumours songs royalties alone. In her ITM interviews three years ago, she talked about a steady stream of royalty income & said that she didn't have Elton John type money, but "Who the hell would need that much anyway".:D |
Haha Chris is Awesome :D
thanks for the Dont Stop info |
Well, I gotta say, as a young fan, it would be something to se Chris back with the band, but like I've said before, only if she wants to do it.

If they did do anything new with Chris (which I doubt they will) they could never _call_ it a reunion. Another album with her would be lovely but it's not going to happen. |

I cannot for one moment see Christine touring again. But why can't they record just a few songs and not commit to a whole album? They could be released on iTunes. Then they could tour and have a few new songs to play but not really needing Christine to tour. I think 5 would be a good number (2 each from Lindsey and Stevie and 1 from Christine) In that way Christine wouldn't have to commit to a year in the studio and the songs could be recorded in L.A. and London. I don't actually know why I'm saying all this because it is so NOT going to happen. Gail |
As much as it would be cool to have them reunite once more with Christine, I am pretty much accepting of the probability that it will not happen and I am fine with that. I never in a million years thought the Dance would happen so that was a real blessing as I never got the chance to see the 5 of them before. I started going to concerts in the mid 80's and at the time of Tango, thought I was about to finally see them until Lindsey pulled out.
Anyway, I would actually almost rather them not reunite. I have fond memories of the 1997 shows and the people I went with. I wouldn't have that now. Even if they did reunite next year people will want them to reunite beyond that. It's neverending. It's got to end at some point - and not just when one of them dies or becomes physically ill. |

I'm only sorry that we didn't get a Dance tour in Europe but that's life. As you say there would be pressure to keep doing it "one more time" Gail |
none of them really need money. if any do, it's John and Mick first.
as for Christine touring with FMac...I'm not heavy in the Christine world, but I really don't see it happening. Christine seems like a true street angel. |
Quote:
she doesn't like flying or being away from home so travelling to L.A. to make an album is probably out of the question. Touring would be a complete no-no. Gail |

I'm curious to know if Chris would agree to a very short, limited engagement tour. Of course, they've missed the 2007 40/30 anniversary opportunity, which sucks. But I wonder if she'd do, say, 10 shows: London, NYC, LA, Toronto (I'll throw you Canucks a bone :p ) perhaps Chicago, maybe 1 or 2 other European cities. Just a thought. And a dream...

I think Gail's idea about the Rumours line-up recording just a few songs, then releasing them on iTunes or as part of some sort of compilation is the most realistic thing that could happen. I could easily see Chris agreeing to something like that. |

thanks for the bone. sadly, i can't bite. my feeling is that if they couldn't convince chris to do the rumours 30th anniversary thing (and you just KNOW the accountants were pushing for that), i think it's clearly a lost cause. chris strikes me as being true to her word and to herself. we know that our beloved stevie is as flaky as they come - vowing never to tour again, is as good as a sure bet. ditto with lindsey and the rest of 'em. but chris? i think she's really done with it all. |
I'll tell you what I think would be really good.
Every five years, Mick and John should hold Macstock (or Woodmac?), a festival where ex-members could all play a set each and then Fleetwood Mac (Rumours-style) could do a headline set. Given availability and standing with the Mac, it could go something like this. 12.00 Bekka Bramlett (joined by Billy for Dreamin' The Dream) 13.00 Dave Mason 14.00 Rick Vito (joined by Stevie for Desiree and Love Is Dangerous) 15.00 Billy Burnette (joined by various BTM members for Sun Goes Down, Back Of My Mind and Hard Feelings). 16.00 Bob Welch (who has fewer hard feelings towards Mick now and attended a SYW show). 17.00 Jeremy Spencer 18.00 Peter Green (assuming he can get the right band together). 19.00 Fleetwood Mac Now that would be quite something! |

I did find a radio station interview from ITM where she said that she did attend a show (which I'm sure you all know) and the interviewer asked her if she would have liked to be up there with them and she said "No, it reaffirmed my decision and I could not see myself up there again." Something similar to that I don't remember the exact quote.

I think she'd decided that area of her life was over and just wanted to enjoy the show like the rest of us. she could however have helped things along considerably and it would have taken her five minutes. she could have taught Stevie the words to Don't Stop! Gail |

Christine wont tour again. She's said as much and John confirmed it in his Q&A Gail |
Quote:
I'm not saying, however, that Stevie doens't tend to ramble and say things that we all know are puffs of smoke. ok, that's all I wanted to say. |
Quote:
She leaves herself wide open by saying dramatic things like that. People will soon think "oh well that's just Stevie mouthing off, no need to take any notice" Gail |

The Dance was a reunion. Any new tour could clearly be billed as a farewell tour - a last dance if you will. So there wouldn't be the pressure to do another one after it.
Personally I'd love to see the band reform. But I'm not sure why they would other than for money. The Dance worked because i think there was a genuine desire to see whether they still had the magic after all the addictions and problems. They clearly did and so the Dance was a huge success. A major part of that success was LB and SN who I think also had a genuine need to see whether BuckinghamNicks still worked. They clearly did too, both musically and emotionally. However rote the performances became, I believe the emotions they reignited were genuine and audiences picked up on that, hence the success of the event not to mention the creation of many new fans who liked the back story. But what is there now? Christine bowed out at the top - would she want to risk another tour which may not have that same magic and end up going out with a whimper this time? With the best will in the world would Stevie want to be confronted with Mrs B and the kids for months on end. Would Lindsey want the spectre of Stevie to arise again? But who knows. Never say never with this band! |
