Man Of The World DVD
I just ordered the DVD from Amazon UK as the DVD is shipping. I can not wait to see it. Has anyone gotten it yet? and if so does it spoil it for others if you share your opinions?

Message from Amazon in my inbox earlier this week postponed the delivery date to late August

I got it on Tuesday. I was so pleased to see so many good things in this DVD and so much information. I don't want to go into detail because it would spoil it.
What I would say is Peter looks wonderful. I think most people would be surprised. He has lost a lot of weight, looks tanned and healthy and the thing that made me so happy was that he is FULLY back. Very talkative, funny and went into a lot of detail about the subjects we want to know about. If you want some mild spoilers then highlight the text below : These include the days before the band, how he became ill, the "Munich" incident, giving money away (he goes into a lot of depth about this and why he wanted to do it and how. Very interesting), the "Shotgun" incident (which made me laugh with a comment he gave!). He talked very much about his drug experiences, Santana, Greatful Dead. Lots of stuff. What impressed me is he talks in the present, talking about "Mick" and "Danny" like it was yesterday, and describing in detail which guitars were used and how some famous tracks were arranged. He talks about schizoprenia and the voices. His time in an institution and his therapy. Its also packed full of all the usual clips of the band performing. (28 tracks it says on the case) with Green and others talking about all the major songs and their influence. The lady Peter named "Black Magic Woman" is also interviewed. Others included are Peters brothers, John Mayall, Noel Gallagher (who actually is in it quite a bit and is very complimentary about Pete. Noel can sometimes come across as abusive but here he is genuinely sincere, something you don't normally get from him on film. He is also VERY FUNNY too). Mike Vernon, Clifford Davis, Martin Celmins, Carlos Santana and of course, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Jeremy Spencer. There is some great footage of the three of them sat together chatting about Pete and the old days. Something also of note is that in the extra features Jeremy explains how and why he left Fleetwood Mac in detail which was a major surprise for me. Rick Vito is in the extras but for some reason he got cut from the documentary. Both Peter and Jeremy expand on the stories and rumours and finally we find out the real truth to some of the bands key moments. For the guitar lovers, Peter goes to his lock up and talks us through his guitar collection and why he only plays single pickup guitars these days (fascinating and I totally see his point). One final, interesting point, is there is no mention of Splinter Group or the members, only of him performing and his comeback without names mentioned.. The point I really want to get over to those who really have followed Peter is that he is fully back in the real world and enjoying his life to the full these days. This is an absolute must for any Greeny fan. 10/10 *edit. Just as a note. The main documentary is two hours long so its very in depth. There are also about 30 mins of extras. |

This is a worldwide one. Region 0 so its ok for US customers to order from Amazon.co.uk. As long as your DVD players are PAL compatible it should be fine... All PCs with a DVD drive should be ok too.
Steve, this one is a must buy. |

compatability
I beleive that you will be able to play it on the computer PAL or not. those with DVD players only may not have the ability depending on machine
|
Yeah, I've been able to play those on my computer with no problem, but it sure would be nice to watch it on a larger screen.

I use WinAvi Video Converter to convert any kind of video media files. When choosing for conversion to DVD format, there is an option to set the target format to either "AUTO", "PAL" or "NTSC", regardless of the input format. Next you can burn the files to your own DVD. Good luck. |
Thanks, Wouter! I'll have to give that a try.
|
Well all dvd players sold over here can handle NTSC discs fine as well as PAL.
All PCs will be fine with this disc. Just the home players you need to check the specs on. If its a reasonably new dvd player I would think it should handle it. Check the specs list on the dvd players instructions.. |

Is America lame with technology? (well ok, yes 'cos the iphone isn't even 3G!).. But over here in the UK you can buy a dvd player that will play both PAL and NTSC on a PAL tv for about $30. |

I downloaded a cracked version of CloneDVD2 together with AnyDVD (search for torrent files). This makes it possible to bypass any security locks. Using it to make your private copies wouldn't be illegal would it? It works fine for me. Good luck :xoxo: |
From what I understand, a DVD player is only concerned about region code, so an NTSC or PAL disc should play. A DVD recorder also has a TV tuner that will be either NTSC or PAL, but should not affect playback. Now here comes the crunch; the TV (or monitor) is where the ability to view comes in. Most UK TVs can play back both NTSC (no surround sound though) and PAL, but TVs in the USA are invariably only capable of NTSC playback.... therefore a PAL dvd will probably have to be viewed on your computer.
As for the Peter Green DVD, mine is region 0 PAL. I first ordered it from Amazon on 29th May, but eventually got an email from them saying it would not ship until end August. I canceled it, and re-ordered it from one of Amazons market place zshops (The Book Depository) who claimed it was in stock. It arrived the next day, 22nd June, so shop around if there is a long lead time. |
All this being said, does anyone know if the DVD will be available in NTSC for the US market?

www.cd.wow.us
It was (is?) available in the USA - REGION 0, PAL

info for European fans :)))
Instead of buying on Amazon.co.uk (and waiting till August) you can try to buy it at once. Here are a few on-line shops:
http://www.best-dvd-price.co.uk/comp...000R56WTG.html I bought the DVD yesterday on Blah Dvd shop and it has already been sent to Poland. It's going to arrive to me in 3-5 working days, as they promised :)) Regards Krzysztof |
The DVD is fantastic !!!

I just received my copy, and it won't play on my machine. A message appears on the screen that says "Check Region". I live in Canada (same format as the U.S.). I have tried a local business that makes copies of stuff for me all the time, and the technician tells me he can't do the duplication for me, so I guess it requires specialized equipment. Needless to say, I am majorly disappointed. Cheers, Don |
Hi Don, I would think that the DVD would play OK on your computer - give it a try on that. But watching a DVD on a small computer screen is not ideal. I've seen a few DVD players listed on Amazon that are shown as "all region" and "NTSC / PAL" compatible, such as this Philips model: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=2L7K2YGF5TY3Z
I've got a couple of other PAL format DVDs, so I'm definitely considering buying a DVD player like this one. |

I recently received my copy and of course immediately watched it. Sadly it doesn't give any more information than there is already available. I really would have enjoyed an interview with Danny as to how he remembers Peter and what role Peter has played in his life from his perception, whatever state he is in...... It was nice, though, to see Mick and Jeremy together on one couch. What amazed me, however, is the perfect quality of the material that has already been available throught the "Early Years" video. Does anybody know if there is a complete DVD available with this quality? Cheers, Wouter |
region 2
I bought the first one available and and ended up playing it on my G5 apple. Lucky for me The DVD drive has four more lives before it can't change anymore. It was worth it to see Jeremy Spencer Mick Fleetwood and John MacVie sitting in the same room.
I now understand so much more about Peter. It was so refreshing to hear Jeremy Spencers honesty and perception about things. His discription of the thing on Peters shoulder was so insightful yet simple. I am so pulling for the well being of Peter Alan Green vinnie c |
Just got my copy on Saturday and watched it yesterday evening. As many here have noted, there's not that much in the DVD that's really new, but it's all presented very nicely and gives a terrific story of Peter's life. It would have been nice if there had been more on Peter's late '70s & early '80s activities, as well as his time with Splinter Group, but overall it was very enjoyable. And I agree that it was great to see Jeremy, Mick, and John all sitting together talking about the past.
I also got a pleasant surprise to see Mick Fleetwood interviewed at the same spot where I had lunch during vacation a few weeks ago - at the Kula Lodge on Maui. The background during those segments of his interview was unmistakable. But those segments also made it clear that Mick needs to try a different brand of antiperspirant! |

I know what you mean! He doesn´t talk much our John, does he? I believe he once said that he didn´t like group interviews because "it´s hard to get a word in anyway" (at least I think that was what he said). Get him on his own and it´s a different story though, and I´m glad there was some clips of him being interviewed on his own too, because the way Mick goes on the poor guy never has a chance to say anything! I especially liked his comment on Harold "the dildo" and how he´s a "stand up guy". I think that was hilarious! Here´s some screengrabs from the dvd for those who are interested.. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...entary/PG3.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...entary/PG7.jpg Mick talking about the lsd-hotelroom incident which John said he couldn´t remember.. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...ntary/PG10.jpg Just realised that I haven´t got any pics of Peter (this is the Peter Green forum after all..) from the dvd but I might put some up later if I have the time |
Thanks for the previews! I have one non-computer dependant player that will work PAL, and yet I'd rather have an NTSC version so I hope they put one out eventually. The way Peter reacted to the lowered inhibitions and feelings of universal empathy which result from certain kinds of drug use are something I actually admire in a way. I'm still working my way out of various experiences back to being creative again (maybe) so it's always good news to read and see how well he has been doing over the last while.

There is a wonderful review of it in this month's Classic Rock magazine. It is a magazine from England. This DVD got a really good review. They made it sound really good, anyway. Also, they put a Peter Green solo song on the free CD. I bought the magazine on Saturday. The review isn't online, so I'll try to type the review up and post it on here.
