Do you celebrate Nicksmas?

For those that don't know, I jokingly refer to Stevie's birthday as "Nicksmas."
I always spend it listening to every one of Stevie's officially released songs (which I have on a handy 10+ hour mp3 disc) as I go about my day, and then watching as many concerts and videos as I can fit into the rest.

I don't take it too seriously, or anything like that -- it's just something fun that I do to mark the occasion. My little "Festival of Stevie." ;)

So... do you do anything to celebrate Nicksmas?

Not usually...I mainly celebrate either Dylanakah or Bocephusmas

Gypsy-Rhiannon 05-25-2007 03:25 PM

I don't do anything to mark Stevie's birthday. Probably makes me a crap fan! lol

It's tomorrow. You still have time.

RavenOfRhiannon 05-25-2007 04:15 PM

I usually listen to all her solo albums 'back to front.' Stevie's b day is just 1 day after my father's birthday. His name was Steve and he was a musician. He passed on in 1996, so it's a little bittersweet now.

ELIUD 05-25-2007 05:07 PM

All I try to do is find an entertainment program like ET or something local that features celebrity birthdays. If she's mentioned I call it a day.

A truly dedicated fan would find a way to fit in it. ;)

estranged4life 05-25-2007 05:14 PM

Nope, not his year - Have to make a long trip home for the holiday, I will be taking only 1 or 2 Stevie Nicks cd's.

JazmenFlowers 05-25-2007 05:14 PM

I don't do anything really special except send a great, big cosmic hug and kiss to La Nicks.

and I try to speak in Chiffonese at least once during every conversation.

Both great holidays! I wonder if Mary Anne, Gail and the gang set aside July 12th for Christinzaa.

How long have we been friends now, and I never knew your dad's birthday is the day before Stevie's. I'm really sorry that the day brings up so many mixed emotions now, Randy. :(

Wonder if Entertainment Tonight will diss her again this year for freakin' Genie Francis, like they have in the past.

You'll be having a mini Nicksmas celebration then.

It doesn't have to be anything big, folks. ;)

That's special enough!

There have been times when I've only had a chance to listen to one or two albums, or just watch a concert video. So I really shouldn't have said that I always celebrate it by doing all that stuff... but I usually do. Sometimes I'm working on the 26th, sometimes I'm off. And other times there are just other things going on.

Like I said, it's not something I take seriously -- I just think it's fun to commemorate the day, and referring to it as "Nicksmas," like it's an actual holiday, is just one more way to make it silly and fun.

Who are you kidding? You do that every day. :p

jkmaletic 05-25-2007 05:35 PM

I'm glad you started this thread - I made a red velvet cake (how appropriate, huh?) for Stevie's birthday and brought it in to work today! My co-workers enjoyed it. Too bad there's no such thing as a black velvet cake or gold dust cake. :p

SpyNote 05-25-2007 05:58 PM

Are you stoned, Johnny Stew? :xoxo:

I'm giving the ol' website a makeover in Stevie's honor. :woohoo:

GypsySorcerer 05-25-2007 05:58 PM

I don't do anything really special, but I will play mucho Stevie music. Tomorrow is also my parents' anniversary.

Happy Anniversary to your parents, Krista. :xoxo:

The Catdancer 05-25-2007 06:31 PM

Today is my parents' anniversary (they're celebrating in heaven, I bet) and I celebrate that, and after midnight I start celebrating Stevie's b'day (until I pass out). Cheers :]

Musicman408 05-25-2007 06:56 PM

No, but I think I might listen to all of her albums.

Thank you Brian. It gets a little better every year. At least this year I get to distract myself with a fabulous trip to NYC at the company's expense...

Macfanforever 05-25-2007 08:00 PM

Ya. I try to play her music or videos,or do a wild Stevie mix of tunes for my Ipod, on her bday, since it's tomorrow. I'll be going to my sisters house for a holiday picnic, I will bring some of Stevie's cd's over to play them at the picnic.
Oh ET probably will mention Stevie'd BDay, they seem to be pretty good about that every year.I send her a birthday greeting on Nicksfix earlier today.
hey at 59 she looks like the age of 40.

Oona 05-25-2007 08:08 PM

ack, I will be celebrating internally. I gotta work, but if anyone here will be at the Jam On The River in Phila, stop by the Woodstock booth and say a "HI-HO" to me. I will be easy to spot in my usual surgical scrubs and orange bandana, just like at Stevie shows.

goldustsongbird 05-25-2007 08:59 PM

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm celebrating Nicksmas Eve by listening to Christine McVie.

Thanks. :) Every year, my mom comments, "Isn't this also Stevie Nicks' birthday?" You'd think she wouldn't have to ask after awhile.

belladonnadream 05-26-2007 11:09 AM

Nicksmas

Well now I gotta do something besides send Stevie a email message from the nicksfix which she probably won't get til next year:lol: I'll have to think of a cute tradition~ I like your idea of Nicksmas~ how cute is that?:woohoo:

I usually listen to her music for sure....but that's not a whole lot different from any other day :p

But today...I had company and I forced them to watch Stevie videos and some of the Dance. Hooray.

LOL, that sounds like something I would do. Love spreading the Stevie love whenever I get a chance. ;)

darklinensuit 05-27-2007 01:50 AM

I used to get a birthday cake and polish it off. Of course, I did that every week anyway. These days I can't get away with that any longer. So nothing really special for the day.

michaelD 05-27-2007 03:50 AM

Nope... pretty much spaced it out....
I did listen to Stevie music today, but not for the B-day...
