When life is shit...
.... what do you lot do to pick yourselves up?? Any advice welcomed!

I also allow myself a few days for a pity-party. I'll let myself cry and "woe is me" for a few days, and then I say "that's enough of that," and try to find a more constructive way of looking at things. |
Forgive yourself and allow yourself to start over.
You are always at choice. |
Music does seem to help.. as long as it's nothing too depressing! That can just make you feel even worse!

I can't help but smile when I hear it, and, as corny as it may seem, it helps to remind me that, while today might be awful, tomorrow holds promise for something better. (If you didn't know already, I'm a big corn-ball. ;) ) |
I'll get a manicure or pedicure or watch a silly movie or brainless comedy. It also gives me a boost to do something kind for someone else. And some chocolate chip cookie dough does a body good. :)

All one can do...

Believe me, My personal life (ie-marriage) has went to **** and the only thing for me to do is 'soldier onwards' and see where life takes me. No time for a pity-effing-party, just cut your losses and go foward and try to learn from any mistakes. I find the way to get those negative feelings out of my head is to type about whatever is going on in my life by updating the blog I have at myspace, More of a self-help thing than anything else...Helps me to unwind! Plus, I blast my hearing into oblivion when I get somewhat EMO...Death Metal seems to work wonders for me  |
Conjur up memories from when times were even ****tier than they are now. Watch really sad movies, because seeing how bad others have it always makes you realize your life might not be as bad (you know, Terms of Endearment and the likes...). Play a LOT of music, music is always therapeutic. :wavey:
Oh, and smoke a joint. Or have a shot of tequila. (I'll wait for markolas to show up now.) |
I laugh like I've gone insane.
Seriously though, I divert myself with something unexpected. A long walk on the beach usually does the trick. For extreme dramatic effect, try the beach at night. I used to sing my little heart out to the ocean waves crashing. |
A soft shoulder or pillow works for me.
|
I go to therapy.

I saw your little tune list. I love Agnetha. In fact, the song 'The Day Before You Came' is playing here on my iPod at work. I love her vocal on this track. |
For me it depends. There's like, sad ****, hopeless ****, angry ****, etc etc etc.
If it's sadness or hopelessness, a lot of times I'll go for a drive out in the middle of nowhere with the windows down and the music up. Sometimes it's a short drive. Sometimes I don't come back for a long time. Mostly I just bottle it up and store it way down deep inside and hope it kills me sooner rather than later. That's not my advice for you.. that's just what I do, coming from a family and place where everything is off limits and talking about things is bad. Good luck. |

I drink myself to an unconscious state  ;) o.k. just kidding. Music helps, but mostly friends. Surround yourself by a great group of people who genuinely care about you and always know those perfect things to say. are you o.k.?? |
I like to go for a long walk snd listen to my favorite songs. Very theraputic:nod:
|
oh, I forgot to mention-all that stuff is for sad moments. When I'm pissed about my boss, or whatever else- I play tennis. and imagine said person's head is the ball. works every time.
|
I do that too...

Trust me, I will be hella blasting the tunes this weekend!!! |
Sometimes I go for walks. Sometimes I listen to music. Most of the time I drink and smoke.

A lot of the times, I will either cut or color my hair. I don't know if that's some kind of compulsive disorder, but it always makes me feel better, like I'm starting anew. The last time I was really depressed, I turned my black a-line into a dark brown shag, and to top it off, I bleached some blonde and red pieces into it. I feel like a different person, which is a good thing, I think.
Also, I love going to shows when I'm down. It really gets my mind off of things. Especially little pub shows - there's always a bunch of people who care about nothing but the band that's playing, and they don't **** around with you, which is cool. |

Usually I go on hour-long walks around campus at night listening to Neko Case or Aimee Mann or something on my iPod. Mostly Neko. I find a spot (mine's by the architecture building) and just hang out for a bit. Sometimes I lay down in one of the fields. But mostly I hang out in My Spot and mope around for a while.
Also, I like to go to the library and read some bound periodicals. Bound periodicals always make me feel better. |
Act like a bitch to everyone, then drink!
(At least, that's what I'm doing) Sorry, my inner bitch is showing. |
