Stevie will begin a New studio album in the Fall!!

Thanks to equeen1022 for originally posting this on the SW board!

Uncle Joe gave an inside scoop on his website that Stevie will begin a new studio album in the fall...here's the link... http://www.westwoodone.com/pg/jsp/of...xpc3RTaXplPTQ=

Did he say "focusing on a new record", because to me that means starting to get ready to begin working on it, you know what I mean? Stevie talk.

Livia 05-20-2007 11:08 PM

His exact words: "...she should start focusing on this fall." [my emphasis added].

Still, sounds promising!

Exactly. But at least she is talking about it...

She added that when she tours for the new album she will not be playing any of the songs from that album, since it would mean not playing Enchanted and she can't have that

RockALittle250 05-20-2007 11:19 PM

Let's not be anal retentive by overanalizing his every word.

Hmm. I listened to the interview and somehow I did not hear it exactly like you did! I bet Stevie is in Hawaii in the fall.

May I refer you to the "Brady Bunch" episode where it was all about using exact words?

I just thought it was worth mentioning since your thread title could be misinterpreted.

It's my opinion that Stevie's not talking more about any potential album of all-new material because she doesn't want to piss-off the label execs while she's supposed to be promoting CV - which, according to Stevie, was the label's idea, not hers.

Maybe she'll emulate Prince once again and start writing "Slave" on her face w/ a Sharpie.

I think with Stevie you almost have to over analyze every word, otherwise you will be dissapointed when what she "sort of" said doesn't happen.
It took, what, five years for TISL to get released once she had begun working on it. I would be really surprised if she released a new studio album, but pleasantly surprised.

Josh2003 05-21-2007 01:09 AM

While that is hopeful news, might I remind everyone of the Rhiannon film, the book of art, the children's cartoon about the Goldfish and the Ladybug, and the "can't-take-this-on-the-road" Vegas show?

I'll believe it when I see it!

BombaySapphire3 05-21-2007 02:01 AM

Consdering that she has written a grand total of one new song in the last five years I'm not optimistic about an album of new material anytime soon .I know I'm probably in the minority here but I actually hopes she does the standards album she has hinted at .Particularly after hearing how great her vocals are now.

danax6 05-21-2007 04:45 AM

Should start focusing, eh?

Am I missing something though, is this another interview than the one Macfan uploaded, or just an extended version?

Musicman408 05-21-2007 05:17 AM

Well, wouldn't we all love a new album? I sure as heck know I would.

petep9000 05-21-2007 07:38 AM

I don't see her hitting the studio this fall. She already went on the record saying that she is going to take a year off, because she toured last summer with Tom Petty when she should have been off and now she's working this summer on the CV tour.

I mean, she'll hit the studio eventually- but I don't think it is going to happen until probably spring 2008 or later. And if a FM project comes up in '08, her solo project will get pushed to a back-burner. So then we'd be talking 2009.

I could be dead, by then.

belladonnadream 05-21-2007 08:02 AM

New album

Stevie always takes forever to make an album! Plus didn't she say on Ellen she's taking time off after this summer?. she'll probably clear her mind than start writing, but it'll probably be another 3 years before we see anything new!

kathy1 05-21-2007 08:18 AM

i am looking forward to the new album. it has been a long time since she released an album since trouble in shangrila.

JazmenFlowers 05-21-2007 08:36 AM

good gawd. one can only dream. I hope it's true.

DestinyRules 05-21-2007 08:53 AM

Folks, this IS Stevie we're talking about here.

I'll believe it when I see the new record hit the shelves.

Thanks a lot Rockalittle, hopefully the optimistic fans will have a great reward soon (fall 2008, I guess). The others would still try to understand how it happened without their consensus. ;)

I still maintain she should release on the web the vast majority of her demos as they will never see the light of day otherwise. I mean even if by some miracle she gets 10-20 of these produced and released - who cares? People will still buy the much changed final product

CrystalMeth 05-21-2007 04:17 PM

new cd

Begin in the fall of 2007, finish in the winter of 2013. I wouldn't get excited. It takes forever for her to "get inspired".

fall 2008? somewhere between optimism and pessimism there lies realism.I could see her finishing a standards album by then but one of new material .. that is about as likely as seeing my man Barack in the White House by then ..but if either happens I'll be ecstatic.

I do agree, I am sure this will take a while to see the light of day. That said, I don't think Stevie is going to take a year off because of FM possibly gearing up again (or future solo work). I took it to mean, she is taking a break after the summer tour between projects (not a whole year).

And 2006 touring with TP was her "vacation". Her Manager said that 2006 was her year off and if she chose to spend it with TP, then that is her vacation. (paraphrasing from previous interviews here). When you think about it, Stevie just showed up and sang a couple of songs and danced during the TP shows. She didn't have to worry about doing a whole show, it was just for fun.

I think Stevie was really disappointed with the commercial failure if TISL. I realize it went gold, had a top five debut, and led to the Planets dance single, but it should have enjoyed alot more sales than it did.
It received the best reviews of her solo career, she did tons of press, another tour, and in the end it didnt fare all that well.
If she is voicing concerns about having Christine on board-which would be great-then I believe there is a chance she may start another solo album, because I dont think Christine is ever coming back.

But really almost no one from Stevie's era is going multi platinium anymore...It also seems the age of the album seems to be drawing to a close and sales are down across the boards. If something like the RHCP's Stadium Arcadium has not even managed to go double platinum yet after a slew of Grammys and a seemingly endless supply of should have been huge hits there is really something going on.That one should have done Rumouresque numbers.

I have to agree with you there. It must be really frustrating for these bands, and for Stevie.
I love the RHCP's too!

If you wanna talk about commercial failure, take a good look at Street Angel...

It is likely Stevie herself would say that Street Angel deserved to fail. What I think Joseph is saying is that Stevie had very high commercial hopes for TISL and when it did not sell like Bella Donna or garner mass airplay it kind of soured her on making new music.

Okay... first months of 2009? :D By the way, I also hope Barack would have a lot to celebrate in that period.
