The R&B album she has in her
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Blu...5451986&sr=1-1
This is a link to a review of the "Complete Blue Horizon Sessions by Chicken Shack. The interesting point the reviewer makes is the that she still has time to make the R&B album I know she has in her. Wouldn't that be interesting? What other type of album would you like to her make? Discuss. Personally I like to see her make a blues album with Mick, John and Peter Green. Gail |
I would love for her to make a blues album. During the late 1980's, she always talked about making another solo album & that maybe it would be a blues album. That's where her roots are & her voice then & especially now would be perfect for the blues. And, her blues piano during her Chicken Shack time was fantastic! A blues album with Mick & John(and Peter Green, if his health would allow it) would be great.
That was a terrific Amazon review, by the way. |
I think an R&B or blues album would make much more for sense for Christine these day rather than a pop album, and I say that as a fan of ITM. Her voice would be much more suited to it these days and imagine all the old friends she could coax into appearing on it. Just as I'd love Stevie to do a country album, I think Christine going back to her roots would be a great move for her.

I doubt she'd make a full-blown R&B album, but I'd love it if she did!
A good deal of the music on ITM was heavily influenced by the blues: Anything is Possible; Bad Journey; Forgiveness; and Friend are all R&B tunes arranged with a west-coast rock flavor. I would LOVE to hear her do an album with just her sitting at the piano...a bunch of "Smile I Live For" songs, or maybe a whole bunch of standards. |

I'd love to hear her sing "I get along without you very well" Gail |

I think Mick and John would up for it but I'm not so sure about Peter and Christine. Gail |

I would love to hear any type of album where Christine's piano is the lead instrument. A blues album would be a return to her roots. Gail's fantasy lineup of Christine with Peter Green would involve the two of them taking turns on lead vocals, which might be more Chris' style than a strictly solo album; that she only made three solo records in a 40 year career shows she'd rather be in a band. Another thought would be a pop album with Mick, John and Bob Welch. Bob Welch has released some wonderful lo-fi home studio recordings lately and he hasn't toured to "work" them, either. |
Well, we can't ask Christine or Peter about these questions, but we CAN ask Bob Welch. He is very involved with his website and always makes an effort to answer personal questions .... so I asked him. Here's what I asked:
Hi, Bob. I'm a fan of Christine McVie's music as well as yours. She put out a fine solo album three years ago called 'In the Meantime.' I understand she's basically retired and living on a country estate in England, but musicians don't just stop making music. Have you ever thought about doing a duo album with her, just the two of you, simple guitar and keyboard arrangements? This would be a fantasy album for a lot of fans (like me). I think the two of you were magic together in those five Fleetwood Mac albums. And here was his reply: Joanne..I'd love to do something like that...but I don't think Chris likes me very much since the lawsuit 6 years ago.. You never know though.... Bob Welch A couple of fans also had input into the thread. Read it at: http://tinyurl.com/3xvdkh |

Hmmm so she still doesn't like him. It doesn't sound like it pays to get on the wrong side of Ms McVie. Mick and Bob are friends again now though aren't they? Gail |
Joanne, thanks for asking Bob that question(that was a great question). Yes, it sounds like Chris is still mad at Bob. Maybe she read that Q & A.;) But, it does sound like Bob isn't mad at her anymore.:)

Does anyone know the background to the lawsuit?
I heard about it but I don't actually know any details. Gail |

In Mick's autobiography he did say that at one point when the first moved to the states all their royalties were paid to Bob because they were UK citizens and he (Bob) got a "hell of a tax bill". I'm at work at the moment so I can't check this but I think I'm remembering it right. Perhaps that had something to do with it Gail |

"Everything of Fleetwood Mac's was still in Bob Welch's name because we had no green cards that would let us work and earn money in the States. I remember that the $200,000 record advance from Warner Bros. to me, John and Chris went directly into Bob's bank account and that years later he got a hell of a tax bill. |

just popping in quick to say that i would LOVE to have her record anything. . .blues, r&b it doesn't matter. she could record a double album of her reading off listings in the phone book and i would buy it.
and that's very cool that bob welch answered your email joanne! it's great to see that he enjoys interacting with the fans. |

well as much as i would have loved to see chris more involved with her own site, i do understand that she's a very private person and when you open yourself up to the fans, you allow for all sorts of psychos to start trickling in. i think she's just had enough of it all at this point in her life. i don't hold it against her!

But I daresay I'll get over it! Gail |
Christine is a lot more "famous" than Bob, since she is a member of the 'Rumours lineup.' Even though some of us like the 'Welch lineup' better, Bob Welch still doesn't enjoy anywhere near the amount of fame that Christine does. (Note the Hall of Fame exclusion, as an illustration.) Therefore Bob can "afford" to interact with his fans on his website; the volume of chatter isn't so much as to be overwhelming.
There's probably also a personality difference; Bob is an outgoing, gregarious American and Christine is a laid back, retiring English gentlewoman. |

From what Martin Wyatt said they weren't expecting so many questions about the old FM days. They kind of thought the questions would be about ITM. Also I doubt if the questions were filtered so there would have been quite a few duplications. It wasn't handled at all well by Sanctuary so it was probably a bit daunting. As for the personality issue - they got on well previously so I think it was just the lawsuit. I'll say it again - I don't think it pays to get on Chris' bad side! Gail |

Also, Bob is still trying to do something with his career, while Chris is basically retired. |
Hopefully, she will record another album of new material. While Ken Cailliat produced the last one, why not join forces with Richard Dashut in the producer's seat this time? He could bring along guitarist Michael Thompson, who played beautifully on Chris' songs from the Time album. Then, it would be less of a funk album than In the Meantime, which would be just Perfect.
But probably, it depends on the sales of the last album whether Sanctuary would distribute another record of hers. Has it sold well? |

I don't think Sanctuary are interested in Christine anymore judging by their (lack of) response to her website problems. I really think another Christine album exists only in our heads. :distress: Gail |
