Would you? I have to know
man, I LOVE this job. a guy came in today with his lower left gold crown displaced. he swallowed it 4 days ago, waited for it to pass, dug through his poop and brought it in  so we sterilized it...and placed it back in his mouth
he's actually a normal guy, he just didn't want to have to pay $1,000 to have a new crown  his friends at work were calling him gold digger  and as soon as we recemented it, he was like..."hmm..this tastes like ****" I swear I've been laughing all damn day long..hehehe anyway-my question is-would you dig through your **** for a crown that you KNEW was going back in your mouth(sterile of course)....to save a thousand bucks?? poll coming |
AHhahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha
Reading that made my LIFE!  |

I had it sitting on his tooth (not cemented) and I sat him up to take an x-ray. I told him not to move his tongue around too much or it will come out. he said "what do you want me to do if it comes out?" I said.."don't swallow it" It's been the BEST day  |
IF I ever DID dig for one, to save $1000, I would NEVER admit it. To ANYONE.
So, my vote is no. ;) |
i'm with homie.
but that is a GREAT story!!!!   |
"Are these fillings or are these fillings?!"
I can't believe that guy had the balls to: a) admit to poo digging b) put the tooth back in his mouth c) had the nerve to wear a gold tooth in the first place |

Gotta go with Homer on this one too
If I was that guy I would have sterilized it on my own...and would never ever tell a living soul what happened....wouldn't a nice "I lost the crown in a nectarine" suffice?? Anyway - GREAT story....your job is full of amusement! |
^^how is one going to sterilize it on their own?? he put it in alcohol, but that isn't going to do crap.....er....
|
No, I wouldnt - Simple as that.

I'd FIND a way to do it - just to save my embarassment. Not that I'd do it. :p |
Yeah, I'd find a way to clean it myself, and you guys would probably sterilize it anyway, before putting it back in, right?
Boy, your breath smells like ****! Hey, that's my tooth, not my breath!    |
I would probably do it - but I would never tell a living soul that I did  |
I would definitely do it, but I would never ever tell the dentist or anyone else. I would just say I found it in my food and could you please sterilize it really well before you put it back in? Holy shi*t that is the funniest story ever.
|
Holy shiite. I just don't know. I think probably not but then I think how many clothes $1000 can buy.
By the way Oral Ex., what was your vote? Oh, and please do tell why gold is better than porcelain. And herrr I thought it was just a G thang. |
LMMFAO!!! I can't believe some of the **** you put up with working in a dentist's office. This is hilarious. I won't find a story for the rest of the week to top this one.
I voted it depends on how broke I was.... hahaha! |
Digging through my crap to save a thousand bucks? Probably yes. I'm not ashamed to admit it. There's a lot of things you can do with 1000 dollars. But the putting the tooth back in my own mouth part has me going... no way in hell. That is just gross, gross, gross. I would probably think about that every day for the rest of my life. How I have a tooth in my mouth that used to be inside my bowels. No way, Jose.
|
Dig through my **** to earn a planeticket, a couple of Lindseyshows, Best westernhotels and a dodge for rent?
WITH MY TONGUE!!!!! |
Quote:
I can't believe you'd do that.................... |
Quote:
I so would dig thru it. |
Michelle, you sick ****. this is the funniest, um, **** you've come up with yet. hilarious. and I'd have to say that it would depend on how broke I was. and we're talking broke. before I could do that. but I sure as hell wouldn't tell anyone.

I, for one, would not dig through crap for anything that was going into my mouth. The idea just grosses me out.
|
My mind says yes, but I don't say yes. :D I don't think I could do it. But I'd definitely consider it - that's a lot of money!

And for those of you who can afford to let a grand go to waste (so to speak) I'm in the market for a Sugar Daddy! ;) Also, you can sterilize anything by boiling it. |

I'm going to have to be totally honest and say yes, yes I would to save 1,000 bucks. For me, it's like.. mouths are disgusting and infested with bacteria anyway. The thing was completely sterilized before it was put back in. So, in my mind, it's kind of like it's cleaner after he crapped it out and had it put back in than it was when it was just sitting in his mouth.
That's a thousand dollars, people. Sure, I'd be gagging while I was trying to retrieve it, but hey.. put some gloves on and get a coffee stir or something.. find the damn thing, pluck it out, and throw it in the sink, then in some alcohol. Ziplock that mother and take it in for proper cleaning and placement. No biggie. 2 minutes of queasy saved a G. Now, a crown that someone else had crapped out? That's a bit of a different story. Some people have more disgusting crap than others. Did you ask him if it hurt to pass? |
I'm with Sarah. A thousand bucks is too much to let sit in a pile of crap. But I wouldn't have f*ckin' bothered with retrieving the cell phone. No way.

alright...you asked for it  Gold (well, it's not ALL gold, obvioulsy) is the most bio compatible thing you can put in your mouth. It's the BEST thing you can put in your mouth. When you prepare the margin of the tooth for the crown, then go to seat the crown, you want a nice smooth transition. Not an "overhang" and you don't want it bulking out the side. Gold can be thinned to less than 1 mm and still be durable and strong. This is not the case for porcelain. They have to bulk it out to keep it from fracturing. So it makes it a tad bit harder to keep clean, and it can STILL fracture. Then...I think for this particular patient, he grinds his teeth. Metal wears evenly. So eventually, with his grinding patterns, he will wear a perforation in the top of the crown. Years down the road. Porcelain-it won't wear as nicely. it will again, fracture. Also gold is not as "porous" as porcelain, so it may be a bit smoother to the tongue  SO.... ooh...and it's not as if you don't have options. white gold or yellow gold  his was yellow  and hell yes I would  to save a grand?? I'd break out the **** strainer in a heartbeat. |
