I dunno...life is short. If you meet somebody and you both really want it, and neither of you is attached, then go for it. Of course, it's probably a good idea to not have any illusions that it's anything more than a roll in the hay. In my case, it did develop into a "relationship," but it could just as easily not have. And honestly, either way would've been fine with me. Actually, I think a "friends with benefits" arrangement is better for me than a "relationship" anyway.

I see it like this - if you are only with me because you want to have sex, then move on. The wait is more of a test to see what they really want out of the relationship...

I'm somewhat old fashioned, I wait a week or so, if not longer (I once dated someone for 2 years before we did the deed).

I was under the inpression that sex in most forms of buddhism is supposed to be between two people who 'love' or deeply care for each other - how can you love or deeply care for someone two dates in? :shrug:

I think that's interpretation rather than actual Buddhist teaching. Which is fine. But I think, and Nichiren Shonin especially taught, that rather than trying to rigidly follow a code of moral conduct, a better approach is to allow the spirit of the precepts to be embodied naturally through the deepening of one's faith.

Anyway. I don't think I've ever posted this much Buddhist stuff on here. I'm sure everyone is enthralled. :laugh:

It's whatever you're most comfortable with. I was actually just starting to really explore this more casual attitude toward sexuality when I got into this relationship. You have to be careful, though, and make sure both people are on the same page; otherwise, things can get nasty. Moreso with women, I think.

It really depends, but if its someone I see a real relationship potential then I wait...I'm not one to rush sex at. all.

If it someone I'm attracted to but know it's not really going to go anywhere, I have some fun...

It's all moot thought seeing as I haven't met anyone I'm even remotely attracted to in a looong time.

I waited 2 years, I seen serious potential in that girl when we first met, we were together for 3 years (It ended the Spring before I met Debbie).

Awww...I love it when guys are willing to wait...2 years is long...personal choice, or a mix of your choice and hers? And the real question is did you wait with the woman you're now married to ;)
