Shameful Self-Promotion

The title SHOULD be SHAMELESS :p

My Lily Tomlin story is up on the web!

I thought this deserved its own thread...because, well, it's Lily Tomlin, and me...in a story I produced.

Keep in mind we're a small operation...this is by no means a big NPR production - but I'm happy with it....

Since I'm "on the list" to meet her on Saturday - I'll post a pic on here...if I get one :p

The story can be found on the main page of our website:

www.kunc.org

A direct link:
http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/ku...CLE_ID=1054279

- it's the second feature on our site :D

Thanks :o I always think I sound like a dope...but I appreciate the compliment...

And I appreciate all your kind words - I was very excited to even get this interview. And actually I've not done a produced piece like this in about a year - and I've never had to turn one around so fast, so overall I'm happy with the outcome.

People actually like American "accents"?

I already sent you a message, Dee, but I still haven't had a chance to listen. Soon.... like, when all the suits I work with go to their little hug fest at 8AM.

skcin 03-16-2007 12:37 PM

Good job! Extra points for being able to say "lip puckered snorting operator." That's quite a tongue twister - for me, anyway.

BTFLCHLD 03-16-2007 12:44 PM

very cool deanna!

mikeschmike 03-16-2007 12:47 PM

You'll never believe where I bought my outfit...Kohl's :p

It's a cute brown skirt with a nifty pattern thing...the top is a knit top -tannish, with a ribbon around the waistish area that matches the skirt...the shoes...are heels. Very cute heels - I'm stepping out of my safety zone to wear them - which means with my luck I'm going to trip all over Lily Tomlin and injure either her, myself or both of us....

 better start walking in them now  I just bought some tall ass heels a couple of weeks ago and wore them out sat night.

i didn't break any bones, but I couldn't walk for 3 days because my legs were sore

Oh I'm going to be dying tomorrow...I can foresee that. I can't remember the last time I wore heels, and these are higher than I've ever bought (though they're still not outrageous) - they just matched the outfit perfectly, I couldn't NOT buy them.

And my mom's here - so the outfit was free...for me, I only paid for the shoes, which were on sale

It's hard to say that, without sounding bad!:) :wavey:

DrummerDeanna 03-17-2007 02:44 PM

^^
 Thanks, and thanks...I am, indeed, a professional newscaster, though not on par with like national people...but I'm ever-improving which is good - someday I will hopefully sound that good :D

Gawd..I'M not the one performing, but I'll nervous...only 1 hour 15 minutes til Lily!!

HomerMcvie 03-17-2007 02:46 PM

Lily sounds very nice. Just relax, and you'll be fine. Have a great evening!

Hee- I know! Which is why it's a good thing she sounds like one. Actually, I don't think I ever knew Deanna did newscasting. I knew she worked for NPR but didn't know in what capacity.

GREAT picture- hope your feet held up. :)

CelticGypsy 03-17-2007 07:48 PM

Great job, Deanna:nod:

DrummerDeanna 03-17-2007 08:06 PM

My feet held up amazingly well....actually...not bad for my first time wearing heels in I can't even remember how many years.

The full-body shot is coming...we didn't get a full-body shot with Lily in it though - so I'll probably stick it in the picture thread :D

Hawt. I love Lily's sunglasses. And your hair rocks, srsly.

DrummerDeanna 03-17-2007 09:02 PM

^^

Thanks! I do enjoy my hair...and I also enjoyed her specs...as well as her, she was a very "huggy" celebrity...

DrummerDeanna 03-17-2007 09:49 PM

And here is "the crazy shot" that's not actually so crazy. We were about to take it and Lily Tomlin said, "make a face" so I did....and she kind of did...but yeah...whatever...that's me...with her arm around me and vice versa...I'm not gonna complain about the stupid ass look on my face :p

Gypsy-Rhiannon 03-18-2007 05:29 AM

Congrats Deanna. That's a great picture of you and Lily. I like your voice too!

Beachwood Mac 03-18-2007 10:02 AM

Great job on the interview Deanna. You have the perfect news reporter voice - so clear and not fake a la Ted Baxter. Great pic also. How thrilling for you to meet her. Lily is great and I remember those Laugh In shows with Ernestine. I also loved her on West Wing.

DrummerDeanna 03-18-2007 12:24 PM

^^

Thanks guys!

And she did do Ernestine...briefly, but it was funny. She's 67 now and has amazing energy on the stage...the woman is amazing, I'm still in awe of her...it was such a fun night. Aside from my mom hitting on her....did I tell that story? I'll go check...
