What songs do you sing in karaokes?

Do you like karaokes? It's funny but I don't go to karaokes often, not in my hometown at least. However when I've traveled within Peru, I've visited karaokes. I sing spanish songs, in english I've sang just Nights on Broadway (Bee Gees).

I never find mac songs in karaokes (except for Everywhere, a song that I can't sing good with my voice).

What songs do you like to sing?

Rickypt 03-11-2007 08:11 PM

Refugee, Stop Draggin' My Heart Around, I Love Rock and Roll, 867-5309, Jessie's Girl

DrummerDeanna 03-11-2007 08:44 PM

I LOVE Karaoke...I miss my Rochester friends - we'd always go out for Karaoke night :(

Some of my standards include:

9 to 5 - I rock that one!
Wrong Side of Memphis
If You Ever Did Believe
Coal Miner's Daughter

As a group we'd do really bad stuff like Spice Girls and various hip hopy tunes...oh how I miss those days.

SuzeQuze 03-11-2007 09:10 PM

You're so Vain. My friend likes me to do I Will Survive too, haha. I did I Love Rock and Roll once and brought the house down, probly cuz I was too drunk to be nervous. :o YSV goes over well, except I was doing it a couple of weeks ago and had sort of a heckler, the stage was near the door. This guy walked in and pointed at me and said, "You are." So after I sang the line I said, in the mic, "No you're so EFFING VAIN!" which got many wild cheers from the girls.

We will change that either when you come to the 'Burgh for Liddy, or when I come to Cleveland to see miss Neko.

I loooooove karaoke, though. My personal favorite song to sing is "Sweet Child O' Mine" by GNR. I hate to stroke my ego, but my version would most definitely impress Axl.

I also love doing "Rapture" by Blondie, "Brass In Pocket" by The Pretenders, "I Hate Myself For Loving You" by Joan Jett, "Cherry Bomb" by The Runaways, "Surrender" by Cheap Trick, any No Doubt, any Ramones, EVERYTHING AC/DC has ever done dude, I love to sing, haha.

Last night, my friends and I went karaokeing, and my friend Nika and I did "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead, and it was so ****ing funny, but we didn't do a bad job. Then me & my friend Mikey did "Fight For Your Right" by the Beastie Boys. He and my boyfriend did "Paul Revere" by the Beasties one time, too. It was so funny.

I'm officially a lame. Oh well.

My faves are "You Give Love A Bad Name" and "Wanted".
With cowboy hat of course.

I would love to do "Livin On A Prayer" but that chorus is just toooo friggin high. Can't get near those notes. It's a massive downer to sing the chorus of a song an octave low, Stevie.

Mapquest sayeth: Five Hours. And one. whole. minute.

That minute's the ballbreaker. I'd be able to make it, if not for that minute.

what if you drive 66 instead of 65?

One of top 3 least favorite things...
Don't sing it, don't watch it, don't go to places that promote it...
I've tried, my friends have got me to try, but I just don't like it.

The other 2:
People who drive slow in fast lane
Stupid people

You're going to see Neko? Awesome! I bet you kick ass at all of those songs, you have such a great voice.

I love to karaoke but don't do it very often. I love to do Fee Fallin' by Tom Petty, and for some reason whenever I'm really drunk I have an urge to sing "Twist and Shout" by the Beatles. No idea why. It's fun though. The last time I went, one of my friends sang "Barbie Girl." -__- Ears bled.

I've never done karaoke, but I've once talked the bartender at my favorite bar to get up and sing the Mr. Rogers theme song. effing.hilarious.

ryan8472 03-12-2007 09:49 AM

Well in the past I've sung:

The Cars - Just What I Needed
Elton John - Tiny Dancer
Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody
Stevie - Stand Back
Genesis - Land of Confusion

And speaking of Genesis, I can also crank out a pretty awesome version of In Too Deep.

skcin 03-12-2007 02:43 PM

I love karaoke, with the requirement that I must be drunk. Not fall down incoherent drunk, but a bit tipsy. Here are my usuals:

Dreams (with the low-note cop out on "it's only ME" ala' The Dance version)
Gold Dust Woman
Stop Draggin' (If I can find a duet partner)
The Warrior (just so I can do the gun shooting hand mime)
Paradise by the Dashboard Light (yes, I do know all the words & get tremendously pissed when someone singing doesn't)
American Pie (So.Long.So.Fun.)

I would do more Stevie if most karaoke people around here had more, but they usually don't. I'm sure I could handle Stand Back. And I'm sure I could drunkenly convince myself that I could handle Edge.

My.God. Karaoke places have this?! I must visit. Yes, you heard me, fly entirely across the country just to karaoke that song... BANG BANG!

DrummerDeanna 03-12-2007 02:51 PM

^^

Oh. Right. I should add that I've never done Karaoke while sober. It just doesn't seem as fun

And I'm a great singer when I'm drunk :p

BTFLCHLD 03-12-2007 02:57 PM

My sister has playstation karoke that she will pop in at some point during family events. She gets a little miff though when I receive the platinum scores. My favorites are The Reason (Hoobastank) and Killing Me Softly (not Roberta but The Fugees.)

I've heard of that game and am wildly curious! How does it work? Do you get points and how?

I know my ex-boyfriend's mother is all hooked on this game, I just never knew how it worked...but it sounds like a lot of fun...because it has the word "karaoke" in it

I believe it works by calculating whether or not you're on key & on time.

Yes, we all are, aren't we? :D

I can't sing well, but I've heard worse. And at least I never attempt a song I don't know like some other morons. The timing's always off, they get the words wrong (even though they're right in front of them) and they're off key. I know it's all in fun, but Jesus H. Christ!

It is fun. The only time it gets a little crazy is when my sis has a cow over the scores...but that really is part of the fun! ;)

Basically, you create a username, chose your manner of style (face&bod/dress), select a song from the songlists, and then select the venue. Once you have done that, there your character appears at the venue, on stage, and the song begins. The graphics are pretty good with the "fans" reacting immediately to your good and bad singing abilities. There is an option to be scored or not. If you receive high scores you will receive either a gold record or platinum record and with that additional characters and songs are released.

DrummerDeanna 03-12-2007 03:34 PM

^^

Ooh that sounds fun! But how do you get scored if you choose that option? What do they base the scores on, or how do you get scores?

I would imagine they have a baseline perfect score and then it descends from there. The score is based on song difficulty, pitch, tone and pace. There are also bonus points that can be achieved during particularly difficult notes...generally really high, low or long notes.

Ahhh. ok. I'd fail miserably at the staying in tune but it still sounds way fun - I've been thinking of buying a ps2 for a while now, I'll have to put that game on my list.

Janet 03-12-2007 07:55 PM

Kareoke. God, it's been a long time.

I won a contest doing White Rabbit. That's basically all I do because most places only let you do one song. I guess it's big in Jersey.

I like doing Heartbreaker, Hit Me With your Best Shot, Foolish Games, Zombie, SOS, When Will I Be Loved, Sunday Morning and Like a Prayer too. Im a whore, I know.
