Spring Forward!

So the time change. It's been all over the media because of it's earlyness this year and some of the possible consequences.

What are your thoughts? Happy about it? Pissed? Indifferent?

Me? I'm thrilled - I LOVE Spring Forward and I love the extra daylight, so I'm completely excited that it's early this year, I'm not too worried about the computer situation etc....

carrie721 03-09-2007 06:14 PM

i'm extremely excited about the extra light, although i do hate losing the hour.

yay more light!

Oh I don't mind losing the hour - but I love that it will no longer be dark when I leave work. I look forward to this every year - it's definitely a welcomed sign of spring.

Ah. This is where I brag again that I don't really have to get up early, and I don't use alarm clock etc :p

In the past though my love of extra light has far surpassed my bitterness at losing an hour.

Don't you love when the temps finally start going back up? It's supposed to hit the low 60s here this weekend....and if it does I will be doing this:
:blob1: or this: :]

ELIUD 03-09-2007 06:34 PM

I like the extra light but because it's earlier this year will we have those longer days right away or three weeks from now? I mean doesn't the sun go down at it's own set time and not when we decide it should come down. See I'm looking forward to it but really I'm a little confused.

the amt of daylight we get won't change, but because we're springing forward we'll be getting daylight until later in the day, which i like.

I'm usually pretty bitter about losing the hour but...what can I do? I do look forward to spring- here in NC we have had some truly spring like days- they definitely raise one's spirits!

It sure does. It excites me when I start seeing my flowers peeking thru the ground. I'm glad we get the extra hour a few weeks earlier.

word.

frankly, i still think it's ridiculous that we even do this. its initial purpose hundreds of years ago was so that farmers would have more daylight to work planting their crops. seems sort of pointless to me now

HomerMcvie 03-09-2007 10:35 PM

I LOVE DST! Everyone I know hates it though. I mow 6 acres, and I love having that extra hour of mowing time. (not that I like mowing. I don't. But it helps me squeeze it all into one day).

foxyluva 03-09-2007 10:38 PM

WTF is 'spring forward' - is it like daylight savings

yeah. "spring forward" is a mnemonic to remember which way to change your clock: spring forward/fall back.

We are stubborn New Zealanders - it was headline news here about the trend of saying 'mom' instead of mum - you should have heard the outcry - I have no chance in hell of bringing in 'fall'

With the world becoming increasingly Americanised, we like to keep our own identity. So saying 'mom' instead of mum is very bad

Picture a male voice, add Nanny Fine's accent - then you have got my voice

bretonbanquet 03-09-2007 11:20 PM

Michael, don't let the Yanks grind you down :D They infiltrate your country, try to change your language, force feed you McDonalds and try to make you drive on the right  And then they tell you your accent is weird... stick to your guns, mate! :wavey:

danax6 03-09-2007 11:25 PM

Oh, is that this weekend? I don't want to be late for work on Sunday.

I don't care about the frikkin' hour, just give me more daylight.

You know you'll have to record yourself speaking and post it, right? Actually, I'm serious. I've wanted to do a thread like that for awhile... I know you'd all love to listen to me yammer on in my so-called Canadian accent. ;D

That would be cool. I'm curious to hear what a "male nanny fine" voice sounds like, too.

I wouldn't be able to participate, though, since I don't have a mic on my computer. :(

Oh well, y'all don't need to hear my "phone sex operator" voice anyway.

OMG - that is an awesome idea. Im kinda creeped out at the thought of recording my voice though

Excuse me? Yes, we do.

I've tried recording a few things, but I end up sounding like a complete idiot. lol. It's harder than it sounds; as much as I love to talk, I find myself drawing a blank when it comes to that. Maybe I should just demonstrate the way we pronounce certain things and jingle some toonies in the background.

Michael - seriously try it some time. You can air your thoughts on Mika some more. ;)

Though it has actually been suggested to me that I take that up, even by people I don't know, but I think I'd just feel damned silly doing something like that and would end up laughing and ruining the whole thing.

I just might do that - if you make the thread, I will see if I can find my mic

What, being a sex phone operator? I think it'd be so funny. I'd probably feel silly too, and end up being really sarcastic and over the top with it. Some sickos would love that. :p

Sweet. I'd start it now, but the mic's on the computer downstairs, and I think my dad's still asleep on the couch.
