Online Videos by Veoh.com

Also, on the www.veoh.com site - there is a video of I Can't Wait in a live performance.

bikerchic 03-07-2007 01:47 PM

I've never seen either one of those before. Plus the "Getting Ready" is new to me too. Good find

DrummerDeanna 03-07-2007 04:32 PM

I've never seen these either!!! Thought that's not saying much as there's a lot I've not seen...but thanks for posting this...quite enjoyable!

Johnny Stew 03-07-2007 04:42 PM

I taped this off of our local PBS station back in the day. I thought Stevie looked so beautiful in her little interview.

I remember they were pledging during the broadcast, and the onair host mentioned that the premium gift for pledging, was a copy of this special on VHS. I never have found a copy of it though.

ELIUD 03-07-2007 04:42 PM

Actually I remember seeing this but only the last couple of seconds while channel surfing. It was on PBS during Veterans Day of 1994, I believe. I think Street Angel had just come out or it was after the tour had ended. I switched over to PBS and I could hear HAEWAFY playing and the image of Stevie with her robe from the back was all I saw. It was the last segment of that show because of course I had to stay exactly where I was to see if they were going to show more but they never did. And that was the only time I saw it. After somebody posted the video to Doing the Best That I Can, I thought I had actually found what I missed, but now I'm positive this is it. Because the song and the image was exactly what I remembered.

Thanks for solving that for me Strand.

skcin 03-07-2007 04:51 PM

I know I've seen this relatively recently, but damned if I know where. Maybe on a compilation VHS that I dubbed to DVD for Anita?

danax6 03-07-2007 05:15 PM

I've had this on my harddrive for quite a while now, don't remember where I got it.

I love that twirling gypsy on her wall, I'm thinking that would look really good in my bedroom.

Ha- I noticed that too, and thought the same thing!

Oh and Strand, we must be sharing the same senior moment, because I don't remember ever seeing this either. :wavey:

ELIUD 03-07-2007 05:56 PM

Wow, for a moment there I thought she had an upside down cross on her house. But I'm sure the botttom of it is just blocked by the roof over the front of the house.

markolas 03-07-2007 08:13 PM

Is there any doubt at all that she's a Republican?

ELIUD 03-07-2007 08:32 PM

No doubt whatsoever, because she's a democrat.

supporting veterans and expressing gratitude for what they've done seems pretty apolitical to me.

Yup, that's why I love it.

Oh, and John McVie is the only Republican in the band.

Who you have preferred if she'd made a politically loaded comment about how veterans are wasting our social security money? Oh wait, she's Stevie Nicks - Not Ann Coulter.

strandinthewind 03-08-2007 06:16 AM

She's a Republican because she has a cross over her house and she supports the D-Day vets and the troops, despiste her position on whether we should be at war? That is a little bit of a stretch because I am sure there are many Democrats who feel the same way

But, your position is interesting in that I think many people think that if you are at all a Christian and if you in any way support the troops, you are a conservative. Even more interesting is I think the vehement hate that spews from the far Christian right makes people think that way because the far Christian right is so intolerant and filled with smung hate speech that portrays anyone who is not an Evangelical (and they are not really sure about that def. mind you) is a bad person.

I was just being kind of snarky, and I knew it would get a rise out of people.

Actually, I almost didn't even notice the cross, and that doesn't really bother me anyway. I guess it just seems a little, I dunno...odd, maybe?...that this troop/vet business is her big cause. Why? First she did that horrible song where she bellows out "Operation Desert Shield! Operation Desert Storm!" And then after that...in every conflict, she's always made "supporting the troops" her big issue. I get that "supporting the troops" doesn't equal taking a political position (although there's a 99/100 chance that the b*tch in the SUV with the "Support Our Troops" sticker plastered to her bumper is a Republican), but...something about it still rubs me the wrong way, and I just don't get why this is her one issue. That, and the comments she makes about the Internet being evil, and how Britney Spears and her ilk should cover up (not that they shouldn't, mind you) kinda make me think that she's a little more "Concerned Women for America" than she lets on.

They wouldn't have her

Personally, I think the vast majority of Americans support the troops but no the war.

Kelly 03-08-2007 09:37 AM

The D-Day vhs shows up on ebay every once in awhile and it usually sells for $30 or more. I taped this off of PBS in 94 or 95 but ended up buying it off of ebay a few years ago for completionist purposes. :p

She also wrote "Battle of the Dragons" before the Desert Storm song and that's about the Viet Nam vets, to whom in 1986 she dedicated her album "Rock a Little". It's been her cause for quite a while and I think she kind of sells her Rhiannon persona as a spirit that helps those in times of war.

I would never immediately assume anyone that supports the troops as a Republican. I beileve in during WWII, people like Bette Davis often put these causes in the front of their agendas and she was a Democrat.

I'm not quite sure why anyone would be "rubbed the wrong way" by supporting those who serve our country.
My father served in Vietnam and my grandfather served in World War 2 -- I also have several friends who are, or have been, in the military -- so maybe my perspective is different. But I feel, whether or not I agree with war (and I absolutely don't), that for many people, serving in the military is their calling, and we should support them. We need military personnel to protect our country, wars or no wars. And these guys are certainly doing a job that I would never want to do... but it's one that someone has to do.

danax6 03-08-2007 06:13 PM

There's a big difference between supporting the troops and supporting the war.

vermicious knid 03-08-2007 06:58 PM

When did she buy that house? And does she still have it? It is the same one that was featured in In Style magazine in 2002. (link) Notice the rounded fireplace and the recess by the piano. The "bavarian villa" she sold and the home featured in Australian Womens Wear that she sold were her Los Angeles homes.

ELIUD 03-08-2007 07:08 PM

I'm not sure if she still has this one but a friend of mine saw a tv thing where they featured a house she used to live in and it had a cross on it. But Walter Cronkit introduced this segment as coming from her Arizona home, I don't know whether she's lived in one or more there.

Kelly 03-08-2007 10:23 PM

The house in the D-Day video is the Phoenix one. It still has the cross thing over the door.

JazmenFlowers 03-08-2007 11:28 PM

sigh.

thanks for posting.
