Love Songs

Since VD Day is tomorrow, I've been thinking about my favorite love songs, whether they're angry, happy, or sad. I've always hated this holiday, regardless of whether or not I've had a "valentine," but it's a good excuse for making a compilation CD or tape.

So, what songs make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Or, do your eyes tear up when you hear a certain tune?

Here are a few of my favorites. I'll add more later.

Paul McCartney - Maybe I'm Amazed
Todd Rundgren - Hello, It's Me
Elvis Costello - Alison
The Shirelles - Will You Still Love Me
The Ronettes - Be My Baby
Juice Newton - Angel Of The Morning
Al Green - Let's Stay Together
Otis Redding - That's How Strong My Love Is
The Romantics - When I Look In Your Eyes
The Kinks - You Really Got Me
The Exploding Hearts - Walking Out On Love
Alice Cooper - Be My Lover
New York Dolls - Looking For A Kiss
The Pretenders - Message Of Love

Have I Told You Lately-Rod Stewart
What About Love-Heart
The Power of Love-Celine Dion
It's All Coming Back To Me-Celine
Because You Loved Me-Celine
Tonights The Night-Rod

More later...
great thread Kate!

Smiling Islands!

When she sings "your the one with the eyes that give me hope" - I just die inside!

Plzz, your list = ♥ Are you posting the songs on el-jay? I'm so indecisive when it comes to making up these lists... I'll probably get some ideas when other people start posting theirs.

ELIUD 02-14-2007 11:52 AM

This is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
Misty Blue by Dorothy Moore

I freeking love Ann, I just love her. When I saw the title of this thread, the first song I thought of was "I Love You" from Brigade. Such an underrated song and they should do the damn thing live.

I may like Brigade more than Heart or Bad Animals. Except for that dreadful "All I Wanna Do..." I actually just dug it out recently just so I could put Under the Sky on my mp3.

That song makes me want to have sex. Have you ever seen her do it live, rolling around on a couch & writhing on the floor? I know Lisa has.

Le Sigh indeed --

Some say love, it is a river
that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor
that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger,
an endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower,
and you it's only seed.

It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
that never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken,
who cannot seem to give,
and the soul afraid of dyin'
that never learns to live.

When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been to long,
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong,
just remember in the winter
far beneath the winter snows
lies the seed that with the sun's love
in the spring becomes the rose.

I sang this on my phone video a capella one time and it made me cry - I am such a sap. let me see if I still have that somewhere and I'll post. One of the cooler things about this song is the INCREDIBLE gospelesq harmony on the end stanza - Sheebus Louise!

Give her my number next time, please. :p Decades was pretty hot. I liked MCE, where she and Scott Weiland got down n dirty. I just wish it had been me instead of him.
