When the Ledge is boring...

Don't you hate that? I'm not sure if it is as much of a problem for most Ledgies, because it seems like the bulk of the posters are from the East Coast, or from the middle of the country. So it's like, everyone over there is kind of on at the same time, and it isn't as bad.
So I kind of feel for the foreign Ledgies, because the timetable is really opposite. So, in theory, it seems like some of us West Coast up late Ledgies might be able to hang with the foreign Ledgies, time wise. Trouble is, foreign Ledgies rarely talk about the same things I do. Can't speak of the other West Coast Ledgies, but I suspect the same is true for them regarding the foreign Ledgies. There's been a couple times where I was up way too late, and Trackie came on very early, and that was fun. But only a few times. And I shouldn't really be up that late, anyways, lol. It was still cool, though, as Trackie is hella fun.

The thing is, that probably happens to everyone, but you just hate it when it happens to you, and you are the one who randomly one day wishes everyone was up late with you. But you can't really expect that someone will be up and talking, just because you feel like it. Especially if you are a West Coast Ledgie.

What's my point? My point is, I'm hella bored, and wish there were some up late Ledgies hanging around right now.
It's only 12:00, though, it seems like someone should be up.

It's also bad that there are, like, 15 threads in evidence and I only find about 4 of them interesting. But that is on me, you can't demand that everyone say more things that you care about. Right? You can't demand that, can you?  The thing is, lots of them are about TV shows I don't watch, music I don't care about, and TV shows I don't care about. Also some of them are about music and tv shows I don't care about. Also, lots of them are about questions about the Mac that have already been threads, or are really obvious questions about things everyone has already expressed their opinion about, in Mac threads that have already been threads, where everyone has expressed their opinion. I kind of feel dirty expressing my Mac opinion that many times, repeatedly. Not tooo dirty, but a little dirty and bored.
I guess it comes down to the age old question: Why isn't everything how I want it to be???

Discuss. That should be a thread, "why isn't everything how I want it to be?" :p

for anyone's reference, Everybody Loves Raymond is on between 12 and 1 am here, so if you could be so kind as to be on the Ledge then... That's 1-2 Mountain, 2-3 Central, and 3-4 Eastern. Thanks so much. Teeheeuajana.

I have to take time out to commend Carrie, as she is somehow lots of times up during this time. And could I ask for a better Ledgemate? No. So, big ups to Carrie, from Amber, for having insomnia, or whatever your thing is. Iown't care why you're up, just love it. :xoxo:

As an adendum, I could see how it would be frustrating for those Ledgies from America and the East Coast that get up really early.

Plz feel free to share your stories of when the ledge is boring. Or, if that really isn't a subject, this thread could be a major recipient of threadjackapalooza. I really don't care. Just try to say something interesting and/or funny. Or whatever. I'm so bored right now I don't care what you say in this thread*

*All thread entries are subject to my mood and capricous whim.

Eh, I'm on here by myself, all the time, in the middle of the night.
I agree on all the UNinteresting topics. TV shows I've never seen, and Sidney Shelstein, or whatever........;) I wanna be this and that, and all the accompanying poles...

Is it just me, or has the Ledge really changed in the last 6 months???

Right now, the History Channel has a Modern Marvels, on the history of the SHOVEL, that I'm watching. HOW FUKCING EXCITING IS MY LIFE?:(

It's true, I always see you here late. I like that, but trouble is, we don't agree or want to talk about the same stuff, usually. So I'm sure you feel my pain. We'd both be really happy if we did get along and like the same stuff, though, yeah? lol. Too bad. I still like you, though, and am happy to see you here late. I like reading your late posts, even if I don't have much to say about them. *kisses*

It (the Ledge) has changed very much in the last six months. Not necessarily for the worst, depends on your point of view, I don't want to make that judgment.

thing is, Homie, I would want to post a thread on, not the actual history of the shovel, but perhaps something similar, nerd wise.
and actually, that shovel thing sounds pretty cool...I don't have cable, so I am watching South Park...
And I don't think you should judge whether or not your life is interesting by the fact that you are watching a show about the history of the shovel. There are millions of people out there who party more than you, and have millions of friends, but that doesn't make them interesting. I would certainly rather talk to someone who knows something about something than someone who just has lots of friends and parties a lot, but doesn't know anything.
don't judge yourself that way, boys who learn things are SEXAY!!! IMO, of course.

I wanted to say, before, that I'm not passing judgment on what my friends or others think is interesting. Or, I am, but not in a bad way, like I don't like or not like anyone less for their interests or anything. In fact, I am glad that my friends like the stuff on here, and want to talk about it, and stuff. It's cool. I like when people are interested and happy. Especially if they are my friends. I'm just not especially feeling all of it. You know, for me.
It's my old adage, "I'd rather be at home reading a book than be at this party". Which actually applies to more parties than the ledge, but kind of fits in theory with my point in this case. :D
:xoxo: to everyone. I don't want to imply that what I don't find interesting isn't actually interesting. Really.
And my favorite part is that I didn't even have to explain that, cause none of you bitches care what I think. :woohoo:  And that's why I loves ya.

Most of the best ledge activity happens when I'm asleep thanks to the time difference.

Yeah, that's what I said, in my whole point about how foreign ledgies must feel just as i do, or worse.
I always read your posts, Pip, and have a great fondness for you in my heart. If I ever went "over there", you'd be the second person I looked up, after Trackie. So, I'll let you know when that is so you can not be home. :wavey: :xoxo:

It makes me laugh that you laughed. But really, you are one of the first people that I ever "met", b/c I was on Neal's site first. You always seemed like a stand up gal who knew lots about the Mac. Plus I remember your times of when you lost weight, and how good you looked, and I remember the stories about your children, and I remember more recently when you said you weren't getting along with your husband (i was sad :( ) and I wished you good luck with that but didn't really know what to say.
So, Pip, I'm keeping track of you even if I don't say anything, and always hope that you are okay with your lovely kids, and your weight, and your marriage. :xoxo:
I know you're okay with the Mac, so...

And if you ever are home when I travel to England - I'm not scary, you just have to have snacks and cocktails. i will gladly play with your kids. I'll teach them sports. lol. Don't be afraid! hehehe. I'm very polite, sweah.

Yeah, you aren't that posty or chatty. I'm always happy to read your posts when you do post, though. But you don't really chat.
I've heard we should go to The Mint some time? They have the best karaoke? :p

The last time I was actually in there was my 30th B-day so it's been quite awhile but yeah it was entertaining.

elie 02-08-2007 06:43 AM

I was so happy to see that Amber started this thread cause I 've wanted to say something similar for some time now.
Where I live (southern europe!) we have a huge time difference - I think we are 7 or 8 hours ahead of New York or something.
So even though I 've been a ledgie for quite a while, it's been difficult for me to follow a discussion on the ledge:(
I hope it will be better now that I quit my job and I'll be online the whole time:p

danax6 02-08-2007 09:35 AM

Eh, well. I don't go to bed until 4 in the morning and I don't get up before noon. That's because I only work afternoons and nights. So the time difference isn't much of a problem for me, but in the off chance that I do get up earlier, it's fairly boring, yes. Perfect time to catch up with a few threads though.

And what do you mean that foreign Ledgies have different interests than American Ledgies? I've never found that to be a problem.

And elie, there's a 6 hour difference between NYC (EST) and Europe. 9 hours with LA.

carrie721 02-08-2007 10:05 AM

holla! yeah, i do have terrible insomnia a lot of the time. i was up until incredibly late the other night, chatting with eliza, and i think she ended up going to bed before i did. even though she's 3 hrs behind. i finally went to sleep around 6:30.

it's funny that you say that most of the action happens with the east coast ledgies, because i always feel the opposite. THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER AND ALL THAT!!!!!!

but seriously, i have a really good time here late at night, for the most part. like, day times are for big group conversations, but nights are good for one-on-one conversations with my left coast skanks. y'know.

wow. I was totally going to say that.

I do think that it's boring at times and then just when I think I'm over it, all the great ones get online at the same time and I remember why it's so much fun. like, last night...good times. I am such a nightbird. if I didn't have to be at work at 8 M-F I'd be up til 2 or so, but I just can't do that. on the weekends I stay up way too late, but it's fun. I kinda look forward to Friday nights on The Ledge cause I know I'll be out Saturday night usually.

Yes, you're right.
For me it's an extra hour (that is 7 hours with NYC) cause I 'm in Athens. It's in a different time zone than central Europe. Oh well.

So even if I 'm up till say 2 in the morning, it's still early in the evening in NY:shrug:

But it's ok, I like reading most of the threads the next day

danax6 02-08-2007 10:35 AM

Okay, when you said southern Europe I assumed you meant Spain or Italy. My bad. :wavey:

It has changed, and it is boring a lot more lately. I worry we've run out of things to talk about. I try to start new threads to keep people talking, but since they're all about TV or food......

Well, the pepper shaker is actually an alternative in a way.

In the event that I cannot secure quick-crete and a basketball goal, I'll have to burn the body, burn it again, and then burn the ashes twice more. THEN comes the pepper shaker.

On an unrelated note, did you ever pop pepper shakers with a nickle? I don't know why we used to do that.. other than to be assholes, but at lunchtime (high school had off campus lunch) we'd slam the shaker down on top of a nickle on its edge to burst the bottom. The next time it's picked up, it pours all over the table. lol. I used to be rotten.

No but I've loosened the top of a salt shaker so the next time someone uses it, it falls off.

That's just as bad. lol. We did it to those plastic shakers like they use at McDonald's and Wendy's. And Hardee's.

And, what's up with fast food and "'s" anyway?

That sounded Seinfeld.

Lindsey? who's she? :D Lindsey Wagner? You hang with the six million dollar adjustable bed lady? wow! :p

sparky 02-09-2007 01:41 AM

It's been pretty boring for going on a year plus. I think it's a lot of things. Some of the superfunny people bailed or don't post much. People don't really have in depth discussions that often. Most of the people here have debated and exchanged ideas about so much - no one is changing anyone's mind, so they don't argue anymore. Plus, I think people are afraid of being too out there. There's an undercurrent of "don't hurt anyone's feelings!" that loomed large for a bit and still lingers.

Also, what the hell has the band done? Nothing, for a few years. Lindsey's record got the LB fanatics wound up, to be sure. But nothing like a fresh Stevie project or a FM record would. And nothing's really coming down the pike, either. Another tour like SYW with no record would only generate so much interest. And it's doubtful that Crystal Retreads is gonna get anyone all that excited either. It will have a bit of buzz, but once the thrill of the fresh packaging wears off, and we read the canned interviews in magazines, what is there to it?
Beyond a few rare video clips that most of us have seen, the only hope is for a set list changeup to get people excited. And we all know the odds of that. The Eyesack factor is the one thing that will actually generate some fresh responses.

Many factors that have snoozed it down. But, thankfully, some new blood has come around and that has zipped up the excitement quotient. It still has great moments. Thank God for Carrie is all I can say.:wavey:
