Who has met Stevie?

I have no exciting meeting to tell of. Just wanted to hear stories from anyone who does. Details... When, where, how was the experience? I'm sure there's been a thread like this in the past, but I didn't see anything recently and didn't figure that anyone who has met her would mind telling about it again.

For the record, I'll just say I'm jealous of everyone who has, which will prevent me from having to post it after every entry.

I'll start a separate thread for LB, so SN only here. :)

Well, I haven't met Stevie..... Haven't even seen her solo actually, but last year I sent her a package of me playing like 7 of her song on piano. I also wrote her a letter and a poem for her dad..... No word on if she got it or not.....
:distress:

Oh well, one of these days I'll meet her.... :] And it will be toooooo awesome. :] :D :xoxo:

I LOVE THAT WOMAN!!!!!!

I have met Stevie.... Actually I would say it goes beyond meeting her. It was on the Enchanted Tour in Chicago 5/30/98. I worked for the tour's sponsor I was so excited that this was going to happen. Once I found out that we were going to sponsor the tour, I wanted to meet her. I received several offers for tickets, but I wanted backstage.

I scored the passes for the aftershow. My girlfriend and I (who is now my wife) attended the show, had great seats etc... We got a little lost trying to find the area for backstage after the concert, and ended up on the other side of venue... we had to dash back to be in time, and we were. However, when we got the room everybody (about 200 people) was lined up along the wall, and we were last in line... I was hoping we would get to meet her being so far back.

So, in walks Stevie, and her assistant. The asst. lays down the rules...
NO pictures, you will get to shake her hand, and she sign only ONE thing.
(I had 3!)
Her assistant was walking about 1-2 people ahead of her, and gettting the people's names ahead of time. She would introduce you to Stevie, sign, and you would leave, and she would move on. As she got closer and closer I started to feel faint, and VERY nervous! I have been a fan of hers for 20 years at this point, and all I wanted to do was to meet her.

Well, I'm up... I tell the assistant my name is Mike... Just then, I notice that ALL the other people have left the room as they met her. So, when I get introduced, I notice that it's Stevie, her assistant, me, and my girlfriend and the security guy by the door THAT IS IT!!! As I shake her hand(probably more like grabbed it) I say, "Stevie you really don't know what this means to me!" and she said "Why don't you tell me"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, there I was talking to Stevie for about 30 minutes... about music, the concert, the Red Rocks shows (I lived in Colorado for 25 years), Phoenix etc... anything I could ask. We laughed, and it was wild... no bull**** from the assistant, or security! She signed my tour program to me and my girlfriend, my Bella Donna CD cover, and my Street Angel "flat". She even called me Michael... We left the room, and there were standing outside still wanting my pass to get in... NO WAY!

The next week we drove to Indy to see her... I was offered backstage again but it never happened... which is good IMO... I didn't want anything to ruin that experience.

wow. you're lucky. that's awesome. knowing Stevie, the person, is just what I imagine makes me really satisfied in my absolute, psychotic love for her.

oh, and if Stevie's "people" are reading...I'm not serious about the "psychotic" part. :wavey:

I met Stevie with my daughters back stage in 1994. A security guard came up to us before the show and asked us if Stevie could sing HAEWAFY to my daughters. I'm like YES. When we went up to the stage, Stevie wasn't informed that the security guard already picked my girls so............We ended up watching the rest of the show from the stage and met her backstage afterwards.

camchristo 02-07-2007 11:03 AM

Wow, SO awesome for those of you who have met her. I can dream. So it looks like you probably need some sort of connection or need to know someone to get backstage, huh?

I can't remember who posted in another thread, but he or she was talking about how Stevie usually invites the same people backstage when she is in certain towns and that some of them have received moon pendants from her. Anyone know anything about this? Or are any of our own Ledgies lucky enough to be one of these people?

I know a girl called Ash went backstage numerous times and got a moon necklace from Stevie, Not sure if she still posts here though

I met Stevie back in 2001 when I went to see her concert in Vegas. Met Sheryl Crow also

I hope that day will come soon for me.I had excellent luck meeting country artists like Emmylou Harris, Twice one her tour bus, and Kathy Mettea,Dottie West,Highway 101,T Graham Brown,Boxcar Willie and Jeanne C. Riley, just to name a thew.I guest it's easier to meet and greet with country artist then rock and roll singers like Stevie.I guest if Stevie was in the country music business, I would of met her ages ago. some day it will happen,I hope .

You are right about that! It is mainly because the country artist's have less of an entourage in some instances, and/or they have fan clubs that allow you a backstage pass. That held true for Reba McEntire for years and her husband Narvel even took our picture several times...it was even published in her fanzine. That was until she got too big for her britches (movies, TV shows do get to their heads!) and did not allow us to come backstage after 1997 or so. The only other reason I've met Reba, Faith, Alan, Garth, etc. is because my friends work at country music stations, and Lord knows the artist wants to kiss ass with them...

I remember back in the '80s, when I was in my teens...rock bands like Poison and Def Leppard were giving us backstage passes left and right. It was solely based on our looks...it was clear when you got backstage it was a total orgy and worshipping the guys was encouraged! Of course, I was only 14-16 y.o. so I behaved...boring I know. Until I got older...that is. :] I love it when old rock bands, who aren't the "it" band anymore come back to town and are more accessible now that I am older! Back in 1996, Survivor invited us on their tour bus for hours...and the same happens all the time with other bands like Styx and REO Speedwagon. Of course, who really cares now...except me...the avid music fan AND admitted groupie!

Thanks to Rosie O'Donnell I did get to meet some cool people in December 1998 when she picked me to be her opening announcer for the show. In May of 1999, I was invited to Orlando...where I mixed and mingled with the VIPs (NSYNC, Ricky Martin, Jimmy Buffett, etc.) during the media day before Universal Studios Islands of Adventure was open to the public. The coolest thing was being on Hard Rock Live with Sheryl Crow...gotta post that embarrassing vid soon! Note to self: Never dance when it is being filmed for TV, especially with alcohol in hand!

funny you bring up both Reba and Faith b/c according to Faith (from first-hand knowledge) Reba is weird all around.

I believe it! My friend spent the day at her offices, being wined and dined by her and her hubby and all. Starstruck Enterprises is it's name and Reba is CEO of course...Faith used them as her reps for years.

Of course, Mrs. Hill-McGraw is one to talk! Girlfriend was sooo sweet back then to all of us, even sending my friend cards on occasions and all (circa 1993) and then she hit it big with the "Spontaneous Combustion" tour aka "I'm now banging Tim McGraw" tour...and VOILA! She left her fiance (who just happened to be a HUGE music mogul named Hendricks) for Mr. Indian Outlaw. Ever since then...she has had a serious bug up her ass when we meet her. Last tour sucked...she wouldn't even meet with everyone backstage - media or NOT!

Sounds like she is following in Reba's footsteps to me...

When's the last time you met with Faith? I'm curious as to how she was and if Timmy was there...

all I can really say is that Faith has said Reba refers to her voice in the 3rd person and talks about it as if it were a living being. that she is every bit the diva you would think she is.

oh and that the Judds are nasty people. they let their dogs **** on their tourbuses and no one cleans it up among other things.

 ROFLMAO! I ask before since she and Tim have been together, it is hard to get her alone...and I'm not a Tim fan. Well, I'm hardly a Faith fan after her last tour with him. Per his wishes, she wouldn't do the M&G's...they just walked past us with our passes. :distress: I do still like her music...just not her as much - GOTTA HAVE FAITH that she will revert back to her old self with her fans.

I met Stevie when she was touring with Henley, such a great opportunity as a friend of a friend arranged me to go with a friend of Stevie's and relation to Waddy after I spent an entire Memorial Day weekend talking about my adoration for Ms. Nicks. The concert was at my favourite venue, Jones Beach, and since I was a blind date going to this concert I really kept my expectations low, never expecting things would pan out. Well, lo and behold, he really did have passes and we went backstage to meet Waddy. Waddy was the sweetest dude in the world. Then, out of nowhere, my date says, "So can I take Michelle to meet Stevie?" Waddy went back to check, he said we should follow him. Of course, being gentlemen, once we made it to the dressing room, they were both doing the "ladies first" bit, and I was TOTALLY hesitant, not wanting to just barge into her dressing room. Her two pups came barking at me, one protective and the other timid. There were two rooms, and in the back sat Stevie, curlers in her hair and getting made up. Apparently very few people were allowed back there and she had just met Billy Joel for what she said was the first time. She declared, "He's short like me!" She shook my hand (which I took as an omen, missing the chance a month before in Vegas during Edge of 17... all the while I had been praying to shake hands with her to know I'm meant to continue on in this musical journey of my own). This was far greater than I could have imagined, and she shook my hand. Then she chatted for a bit with Waddy and my date, and we headed out because she was so behind schedule in getting ready. Unfortunately everyone in the band left immediately after the show, and I didn't get a photo with her hair still in curlers... but it was by far, the best date (blind date, nonetheless) of my life~

WOW Michelle, what an amazing amazing eperience!!!

For the people who have met Stevie, no one could share an experience like yours.... just wow.

i met Stevie as most of you know in November of 2005 when she came to australia for the horse race. I bought my way into the andrew McManus tent. Sat right near her while she was posing etc and waited and waited till i thought it was appropriate. Eventually i met her, and got a photo. Thats about it.

I've had the Edge of 17 hand shakes, i think two. I was sure a few other fans and i were going to get backstage at Sydney last year but we didn't... Cannot complain though thats for sure!
