80's Country Divas
if you love 80's country like I do and a couple others do (show yourselves)...what/who are your favorite songs/artists?
I'll start: What Am I Gonna Do About You - Reba McEntire Give A Little Love - The Judds |
She's in love with the boy-trisha yearwood and she is his only need-the judds (or was it wynonna sp? solo. And was it 80's? ) man. SIHON makes me cry EVERY time i hear it. It just happens and i cant control it :o

Reba - Weekend In New England and yes...even Marie Osmond...Meet Me in Montana Others I liked but no one song in particular... Patty Loveless Crystal Gayle |
I'll ignore the D word, as it makes me want to tear my eyeballs out of my head.
Favorite 80's country chicks: Patty Loveless - The Night's Too Long, Overtime, anything on On Down The Line ("I can't get no satisfaction and my tractor don't get no traction" one of the best lines ever) Rosanne Cash - King's Record Shop - all of it. KT Oslin - This Woman - all of it. Dolly - He's Alive (totally LOL!) Judds - River Of Time - all of it. |

I was watching a Dolly Parton show on CMT, Biography Channel or something one time and they showed a performance of her doing He's Alive...I cried like a baby. It was frickin' amazing. She's awesome. Love her. Some of my faves: Ronnie Milsap - Any Day Now George Strait - Amarillo by Morning (LOVE THIS SONG!) The Highwaymen - Highway Man Eddie Rabbitt - Drivin' My Life Away and I Love a Rainy Night John Anderson - Swingin' Johnny Lee - Lookin' for Love (or Wookin' Pa Nub. Trisha's career started in the '90s, I believe (and Patty Loveless just got in under the wire since her first album came out in 1988)
|
Juice Newton - BAAAAHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEAAAAAAKKKKKKK it to me gently . . . .

I love Bonnie Tyler's "It's a Heartache", but that's about it. All the other country I like is from the 50s-70s.

Wow, let's see... my list could go on for ages. I hold my right to include early-90s, as I consider it pseudo 80s. Reba McEntire: anything of hers. That woman can do no wrong in my eyes. my personal favorite would have to be "I Know How He Feels" though. Rosanne Cash - Seven Year Ache, Tennessee Flat Top Box, Hold On, I Don't Know Why You Don't Want Me Lorrie Morgan - Dear Me, Something In Red, Out Of Your Shoes, Five Minutes Sweethearts Of The Rodeo - Since I Found You, Midnight Girl In A Sunset Town KT Oslin - 80s Ladies, Hold Me, Come Next Monday The Judds - Mama He's Crazy, Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout The Good Old Days), Love Is Alive Patty Loveless - Chains, Timber I'm Falling In Love, Hurt Me Bad (In A Real Good Way) Forester Sisters - I Fell In Love Again Last Night, (I'd Choose) You Again just to name a few, lol. |

Eh, I prefer '50s and '60s country, and some '70s. I like Dwight Yoakam, but he's not a diva. And k.d. lang's country period. I kind of like the Judds, but really only two songs - Why Not Me and Rockin' with the Rhythm of the Rain. Wynonna solo is great...she's actually pretty eclectic.

Oh, no problem with excluding men. The word diva just grates. Of course, you don't, but the word does. :wavey: |
I love me some Reba, Pam Tillis, The Judds, Wynonna Judd, Roseanne Cash.... seems like I'm missing someone. I can't hear You Lie by Reba without bawling.
