Cops: Man taped wife's rape, hung her from tree

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/17/fil....ap/index.html

ORLANDO, Florida (AP) -- A 30-year-old man kidnapped, raped and tortured his wife, then hung her from a tree to film a two-hour bondage pornography video, authorities said.

The man was charged with aggravated assault and battery, sexual battery, kidnapping, and false imprisonment. He was being held in the Brevard County, Florida, jail on Tuesday in lieu of $3 million bail.

"I don't know how to even explain it," sheriff's deputy Marlon Buggs said, adding, "the victim will be mentally scarred. He humiliated her."

CNN and The Associated Press do not identify victims of sexual assault. The man was not identified in an effort to protect his wife's identity.

The couple went on a canoe trip down a canal on Saturday and pulled ashore near some trees, when he began raping her and taping it with a video camera, Buggs said. He tied her to a tree, where she hung naked for several hours, her toes grazing the ground.

He struck her with the side of a hunting knife blade, leaving bruises, then raped her again, Buggs said.

It appeared the man was following a computer printout describing the crime in detail that was found at the scene, Buggs said.

If convicted, the man faces a life sentence, Buggs said. He will appear in court February 9. His attorney's name was not immediately known.

doesnt have to watch "American Idol" I hope she can have a functional life

In Oklahoma rape has a maximum sentence of 7 years (!!!), which I think is WAY to short of an amount of time for an attacker when a victim has to suffer for the rest of their life (A drug dealer in Oklahoma can face more prison time than a rapist - As Megadeth sings "The system has failed"...)

I suggested tossing attackers in a wood chipper, but the state never returns their thoughts on my punishment ideas....Perhaps I am a tad too harsh

No AI for her. I think she's been through enough trauma for one week.
7 years? Really? That's really going to teach rapists a lesson, isn't it? I stand behind your wood chipper idea though. It's a tad more effective then a seven year stint at Club Fed.

estranged4life 01-17-2007 03:08 PM

Club Fed?

Rapists usually serve only a fraction of the 7 year sentences, and that is BS in of itself. The state pays so they can be 'rehabbed' whereas the state sure as hell wont pay for the victim to seek help...Someone show me what is wrong with that problem.

I think DOC of Okla. should change the plan, send rapists/molesters/William Shatner/pedophiles/sheep f**kers to prison for 99 years and give drug dealers the 7 year sentence.

The wood chipper is always an option....

Yes, penis first in the woodchipper. Sounds like there're some mysoginistic attitudes toward rape by lawmakers. Either that or they're too damned lazy to update the laws!

Personally, being the nice polite, loving, caring, lawabiding, tax-paying, God-fearing person that I am here is a preview of what should happen to sex crime offenders in this country...Trust me, this is a fun game to play:

I believe in some states a man cannot rape his wife uner the law. The intent is the crimes are rarely prosecuted because the woman caves in and refuses to go forward. How's that for sick?

Very true - New Mexico passed a law in recent memory in which men can finally be prosecuted for raping their wives - prior to that a man could not be touched for raping his wife...:distress:

^^^^^

When I was in law school and heard that - I was HORRIFIED!!!!!

Interestingly, I believe in some jurisdictions rape carries a life sentence, I am unsure about parole though - which can be too loose for me.
