Sara
I just joined up here. Looks like a great place. I searched around and found some old topics on Sara but I thought I'd start my own.
What was the longest version released? Does anyone know how or where I can get it? I can't seem to find it anywhere. It's such a great song and I'd love to hear the most unedited form available. Thanks! |
From what I've heard...the original version of Sara was summert like 19 minutes long but I don't think this version ever surfaced. I would love to hear it Sara is my fav song of all time

as mentioned above, the full, unedited demo has never surfaced...though there are other demos that are longer than what's been released. |
The longest unreleased version of Sara that exists is between 8 and 9 minutes long. And it's superb. I'm at work now but I will post it later if nobody else does in the meantime.
|
Does anyone remember the version Daniel posted on his site that was about 12 minutes long?

I'd like to hear whatever you guys have if you're willing to send it. I don't have anything but the finished version.

19 minutes?! Holy Moses!
I'd love to hear some of these .... Sara is one of the best songs for loooong demos. It never gets boring. Thanks in advance for posting! |

that's the longest one I have. It is gorgeous. The whole wind becoming crazy. That ol' crazy wind!! and the "no sorrowful sorrow, and you can have no..more" awwwwwwww..... also, I just like the way she says "I don't wanna be cleaning lady!" :o You go girl!! i don't either!!! haha.. oh-and on edit. I don't think I could take 18 minutes of sara. i love it, but after 15 I'm sure it gets tiring  |

Agreed. I can listen to the regular version of Sara for 20 times over.

Some live favorites:
Melbourne 3/12/80 Sara ("down through the night") http://www.sendspace.com/file/rkptkn Austin 8/31/83 Sara - I think she says something like "Do you know when it's love? I do" at the begining. http://www.sendspace.com/file/tb6osc |
That first one is incredible! Thank you! :D

OMG! *is overwelmed by the Sara-ness* **** this is totally my fav song EVER!!! THANKS FOR POSTING!! One question tho...wot's the cleaning lady version?? I'll upload the White Wing Dove live version from '81 later tonight I'm at college at the moment. I love the whole HBO concert but Sara really was a highlight. It also has the DEFINITIVE version of Edge on it :D

If you buy the remastered Tusk album, the second disc has the demo referred to as the Cleaning Lady version of Sara because Stevie begins the song saying "I wanna be a star, I don't wanna be a cleaning lady."

I listened to several different SYW tour boots but there wasn't a whole lot of variation in the vocal so I thought I'd post that one. |
I would just like to thank everyone for posting this. I am overwhelmed from all this fabulousness (and driving my husband crazy).
My personal favorite would be the one from the Bella Donna tour. It's such a bittersweet performance- cheerful , almost. |

WOW! It seems that the WWD version has gone down a treat. I really love this version. It has to be my favourite. It was one of the first I heard to. I think it was a chearful version because u can tell when you watch the video that Stevie was happy singing it..I think she was sorta looking back whilst she was singing it.
|
I love the one from the Bella Donna Tour. THe video is on YouTube by the way.
Thanks sooo much! |
Fantastic!
I have some traded disks full of different demos and live versions of Outside The Rain and Gold and Braid ... does a similar disk exist for Sara? |
