Need Ledge Expert Advice

Fellow Ledgies,

I recieved an expensive gift for Christmas. A white Fender Elec. Guitar signed by all Fleetwood Mac members.

The person who gave it to me spent about $300.00 and bought it on ebay.

Obviously I was very excited about this gift but noticed immediately that the signatures looked odd. And Christine McVie hasn't been around for like 8 years. Even if this was signed during a Say You Will meet & greet, she would not have been there.

Also the Certificate of Authenticity also looks bogus and I havent been able to find any info on the company who authenticated it. "Atlanta's Geniune Signature's" ... can not be found online.

Heres the ebay link.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...9876&rd=1&rd=1

I need your advice.

HELP!

sounds like this would be a great question for the "ask john" segment! (over on the rumours board, in case you haven't seen). seriously, why don't you submit a question about this kind of thing: do the members actually sign guitars to be sold later? or are these things usually bogus? i'd be interested to know myself.

good luck - i hope your friend didn't get duped.

Gypsy-Rhiannon 01-07-2007 12:49 PM

I'm sorry but it looks totally bogus to me. Stevie's sig looks fake most definitely. If this were genuinely the real deal I would have expected it to sell for a lot more anyway. I would never trust signed stuff from ebay

carrie721 01-07-2007 12:59 PM

all those signatures look like they were signed by the same person to me.

Hear, hear!

Now get yourself an amplifier and sign it "Keith Richards" and you'll be ready to take a few lessons. Enjoy.

That is what I thought, too. If it was real I would think that it would go for at least $1,000.00. Lindsey's sig looks odd to me. Of course I don't have anything on this laptop with his signature on it to compare it to.:distress:
I just remembered that I made a UTS banner using a photo that he signed for me a few years ago.

absolutely!! don't breathe a word of your misgivings to your very generous friend.

but at the same time, i understand your questioning of it. and again, i hope he/she didn't get duped. still, not a word to your friend.

I have an authetic Stevie signature and I can say that it doesn't look much like that. I also have an authentic Lindsey signature that looks nothing like that.
I think the best recourse you would have at this point would be through eBay. Also, you might want to pursue it with PayPal if that's how it was paid for. I'm terribly sorry this happened to you. :(

I think his friend should know. What if he goes about buying this sort of thing for other friends? Shouldn't he know that like 95% of the stuff on eBay is fake? I don't know.
And yes, it would be good to ask John if they do this sort of thing. I'd be interested in his repsonse.

77Rumours77 01-07-2007 03:25 PM

Stevie's dosen't look real, BUT..... That guitar is a real beauty! That could be signed by god IMO, and I would still play it all day and night!

These autographs look like bad copies from the 25 years of FM -chain box.

300 bucks for a fender. is that so bad? is it a real one?

DavidMn 01-07-2007 04:59 PM

I hope you didnt get taken, but it looks as though you might have been.:(

rbs3676 01-07-2007 05:08 PM

I've got a signed tamborine from THE DANCE show in San Antonio and none of my signatures look like the ones on that guitar. :sorry:
But the guitar itself is beautiful.

Yes, and the Mick and Christine signatures don't look like the real thing, either. :sorry:

Sahara 01-08-2007 03:47 PM

I'm no expert and I've been ripped off myself too .... but that doesn't look great to me at all. I'm so sorry!! :(

I'd say nothing to your friend but as the others have said, it's a cracking looking guitar, signatures or no!

I was thinking the same thing. The loops and arches are all too similar.

wondergirl9847 01-09-2007 01:30 AM

Oh man..

Those most definitely look fake. I hope you enjoy the guitar anyway though and yes, please, tell your friend thanks. :)

DeadliestPoison 01-09-2007 01:32 AM

I have John's signature, and it doesn't look much like the one on the guitar in question.

JLS 01-09-2007 08:38 AM

signed guitar

Sorry........I don't think you got the real dea. Doesn't look like Stevie's signature at all.

gldstwmn 01-10-2007 07:46 PM

For contrast, this one looks authentic to me:

definitely. if nothing else, the signatures are more "fluid" and don't look as if they were done by the same hand.
