Koo koo ka choo, Mr. Robertson
Pat Robertson Predicts Deadly Attack on U.S.
AP VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Jan. 3) - In what has become an annual tradition of prognostications, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Tuesday God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would result in "mass killing" late in 2007. "I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that." Robertson said God told him during a recent prayer retreat that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September. Robertson said God also told him that the U.S. only feigns friendship with Israel and that U.S. policies are pushing Israel toward "national suicide." Robertson suggested in January 2006 that God punished then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with a stroke for ceding Israeli-controlled land to the Palestinians. The broadcaster predicted in January 2004 that President Bush would easily win re-election. Bush won 51 percent of the vote that fall, beating Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts. In 2005, Robertson predicted that Bush would have victory after victory in his second term. He said Social Security reform proposals would be approved and Bush would nominate conservative judges to federal courts. Lawmakers confirmed Bush's 2005 nominations of John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court . But the president's Social Security initiative was stalled. "I have a relatively good track record," he said. "Sometimes I miss." In May, Robertson said God told him that storms and possibly a tsunami were to crash into America's coastline in 2006. Even though the U.S. was not hit with a tsunami, Robertson on Tuesday cited last spring's heavy rains and flooding in New England as partly fulfilling the prediction. |
I was just reading that!

Oooor...the man is a loon  |
If it wouldn't make him a martyr, somebody should do away with him. But, sadly, he would become even MORE of an icon for the gullible feeble-brained.

Maybe old Pat is related (psychically) to the useless clairvoyant a friend took me to see once.
This charlatan claimed he was getting messages from the 'other world' . They gave him such psychic gems as " I'm seeing that you have several options in this area of your life and what the spirits are telling me to tell you is......... that you must make a choice!" |
This "God spoke to me" crap is ridiculous. Ol' Pat should just stop eating chili before he goes to bed.
|
Totally off topic - but the title of this thread is continually cracking me up.

"Ah-choo!" I don't know what is more HILARIOUS...ole' Pat's ramblings or that funny line from the song! Love that quick wit!  Who the hell does Pat think he is? Nostradamus??? :] However the hell you spell it??? |

The only people in America crazier than Pat Robertson, are the folks who send money to the 700 Club.

Hell, he's already 80% of the way there now. |
Its funny how the Chruch condems psychic abilities, yet when they get visions from 'God' its somehow different
On another point, the things he is predicting could be predicted by anybody with any intelligence, they are hardly specific - I mean, if God was really talking to him, why would he say 'Late 2007' |

See? You said "anybody with any intelligence" could think of those things, my joke played on the fact that he doesn't have any intelligence. Oops, did I forget my laughie emoticon again? I guess a dry delivery doesn't work too well here. So much for my Bob Newhart impression. Yes, it's fine if you don't get that one, either. |

We used to have to watch the 700 Club in class at a religious flake school I went to for a couple of years. I swear even twenty years ago those people spent more money on instructional cassette tapes and motivational message stickers than Amway sales people! One day there was a hurricane that Mr. Robertson and television satellite family prayed to have turned away from Virginia Beach and toward the sinful New York City. Man, did they do a church lady superior dance on that wacked out thing. I was already told I was possesed by then for making my teacher cry when I heckled a religious singer on the same show earlier.
Let's hope this kind of stuff stays funny, but geez is it sad in so many ways too! And I'm Canadian... how much weirder have things been down south??? I do not understand how the whole 'Christian media industry' thing has come from a collection of ancient writings. They have their own books nobody else buys, their own CDs, their own tv and radio stations, THEIR OWN FLOOR CLEANER, where do they rejoin the rest of society and get a bit of fresh air and perspective on things? Most Christians are not show-off egomaniacs who proclaim themselves saved and direct messengers of God like this, just as most Muslims are not psychotic hate-filled future human bombs. I'd say this guy is going senile except I know he has pretty much been like this for a long time now. :( God bless everyone who has a brain and some humility, and protect us all from fanatics. |

Wow, and I thought I cried easily. Of course you are possessed. By the spirit of some comedian, no doubt. Quote:
Wait, they have their own floor cleaner? |
That school experience gave me one thing, I realized how comparitively normal I really was. Unfortunately their high school accreditiation was revoked and we were never told even though they still got some funding from the government to teach lower grades, and thus I went there for two and a half years for absolutely nothing, and my Mom worked a cafeteria job the whole time to pay their fees... for nothing. They are still going under a different name, Lighthouse or some similar sounding b.s. I guess if you believe in those awful Left Behind books then they will get squished like grapes full of blood for that by an eighty foot Jesus while I laugh at them from the safe clouds. :D
"And now after the Rush Limpdick no-spin news hour we'll have another forty minutes of purrraise on purrraise 102.5 FM, followed by G. Gordon Loopy where he speculates how long until someone shoots Hilary, brought to you by Rapture floor-cleaner available at your door or support our president prayer group meeting... Rapture floor-cleaner, it'll put a twinkle in your eye!" |

So, do psychics. I'm sure something bad WILL happen this year...because of Iraq, Sadaam's death, etc. They just found 200 pounds of explosives in a car in Spain. |

When I think of relig-a-tards (Mind you not everyone that practices a religion is in my eyes a relig-a-tard....Just those who have somewhat a militant view of their religion being the 'chosen one', Ya know like Rev. Phelps and his cult, er, church) I recall a time when a chatroom 'friend' said she would "pray for me" when I wasnt feeling well back in 2000...My reply absolutely buried her "Dont pray for me ever...Because there will be a day when I will be on the other side of the firing line taking aim at you."
With people like Pat Bobble-head, Rev.Phelps, Rev.Jerry Flawed-well supposedly on the side of "good" I have to be honest in my heart and pick the side of "evil" since those are but 3 names of people who should have been taken to the gallows way ahead of Saddam Hussein. Brian "I know where I will be spending my eternity...And ya know what? I'm fine with my choice since this is MY LIFE" j. |

It's comments about shooting Christians or perceived Christians that really feed into the isolationist extremist agenda you realize...
I can't imagine that Falwell, Robertson etc. have directly killed anyone and not sure you could say they have indirectly killed anyone either (are either connected to anti-abortion related killings?) whereas Hussein directly and indirectly and with great amounts of physical trauma murdered thousands and thousands. I hate those televangelists but I reserve the hypothetical of killing for something worse than what they are. Two wrongs never made a right, ever. Becoming like your enemy was covered in a Star Trek or Twilight Zone episode wasn't it? If you won't read old religious writings at least listen to your old tv shows people! :) Old books belong to everyone though, they are all "yours" and nobodys to say "mine", don't let the fans of it put you off, they are just another class of dork with rubber Spock ears who likes to play dress-up is all. |
