Yeah, I'm a little behind the times

My husband and I ended up with an ipod for Christmas. My question is, does anyone use itunes and if so, how much is the membership? I started creating an account, but before I put in my credit card information, I'd like to have an idea of how much it's going to cost. Also, is it a good thing? I don't really plan on using the ipod that much (Jeff will), but while downloading songs for that, I'd like to also download songs to burn to a CD. Can you do that with itunes?

I use iTunes every moment of my life!

When you put the CD-ROM in that you got with the iPod, you should be prompted to register it, and therefore create an iTunes account. It doens't cost anything (the iPod is expensive enough!). Just go through that whole procedure and you should be good to go.

And yessss, you can burn CD's with iTunes. It's all I use. :D

I just read this to my husband and he's saying that they did all that but it is still prompting us to pay for songs.

OOOOOOOH. :o

Yeah iTunes charges 99 cents per song, since thats basically the only way to download music legally.

You can pay for the song with either credit card or iTunes cards (gift cards, etc...). Or you cann just download Limewire and get all your songs for free. :p

Good choice! :p I only buy from iTunes at school because I cant use Limewire there. But if I could, I would, obviously. ;)

gldstwmn 12-31-2006 12:19 PM

The iTunes gift cards are the way to go. That way your account has a balance and it's not charging your credit card.
Also, you know you can upload all of your CD's and your current mp3 files to iTunes?
I'm with Ryan. I love iTunes. There are even adapters that allow you to play your iPod through your car stereo. Pretty cool.

I made the mistake of telling this woman I was talking to the other night(we're "acquaintence" friends, sitting in a bar), that I get most of my music for free, from Limewire. Bitch went OFF on me, loudly announcing that "I AM STEALING!!!". People around us are all looking at us. I myself had to say, fairly loudly, "Hey, we're not talking about robbing banks, we're talking about downloading music for free!". I then asked 2-3 of them, that we knew, if they DL'd free music. They all said yes. She didn't care, and kept ranting about stealing.......

DrummerDeanna 12-31-2006 02:25 PM

I use Limewire for the hard-to-find songs, songs that I can't find at iTunes (and there are a lot they don't carry).

I've never had a problem with Limewire...I quite like it actually :o

I used to use Kazaa and Bearshare back in the day. Other people have mentioned Limewire to me before- but I was always so paranoid about crashing my computer (this happened about 2 years ago and it was a costly and time consuming problem) by downloading *any* program. See? I'm a geek! Anyway, having fun over at Limewire as we speak... :wavey:

Kazaa is the one I miss the most. I could find EVERYTHING on Kazaa!
Limewire's okay. My friend was telling me about a new one called Frostwire. It's supposedly hooked into the same network as Limewire, but it's supposed to be faster DL speeds. And it's free, of course!

Limewire rules! It can be a bit hit and miss but generally it's the way to go.

If I'm going to do it, I like to do it right, or not at all. Just the way I am.

I don't want to get one, then decide a month later, that it doesn't hold enuf songs...

Are you using Videora ipod converter? I think I also used DivX Converter for that, but I'm not sure. I remember it was incredibly frustrating, it took me all night to figure out.

Oh, suck. Well, I found my instructions online and it worked. I did have to dl two programs, but they were free and it worked.
The way you did it must have worked for Jaz, though, and it sounds simpler.
Here is one link with instructions that also has the link to videora. It's not the site that told me, but it sounds right if you want to try it. Also fairly simple.

Ah - that may be a good thing to do - or go to their website and troubleshoot - it's probably something really simple that you're over looking (isn't that always the way it goes?)

But at least you can play music and stuff on it

Yah, it's easy. I guess I wasn't focusing on the fact that your ipod might be broken, though. But I don't think it is. Why? I dunno, I just don't. :p Good luck. I hate the frustration that comes with trying to fix/figure out ipod stuff. It has only happened a couple times, but I remember it vividly...and how happy I was when I finally got the video to play. Video ate up a lot of battery, but it was still fun. I was all "look! look at Stevie do this awesome thing in this awesome song!" to unsuspecting victims. Mwahahahahaha!
