oops, i guess i should put a spoiler warning here ...

i just got an email from borders saying the book 7 title has been announced: harry potter and the deathly hallows. i hope it comes out this summer ... i can't wait any longer! i love me some HP. any other nerds here?

AliceLover 12-21-2006 03:37 PM

They just started showing the Prisoner of Azkaban on TV this week and I really loved it. I thought it was a lot better than the second one!

As a big Harry Potter geek, I would suggest not seeing them. At least not three and four. The books were excellent but the movies strayed way too much for my liking. Michael Gambon as Dumbledore is just cringworthy and oh so very wrong.

I'm really excited about The Deathly Hollows though. I started reading them in 1997 when The Sorcerer's Stone came out. Ten years is long enough to wait for a conclusion.

interesting ... i still would like to see them, just to see them, y'know? i didn't start reading them until 1998 or 1999, but i'd say i've waited long enough too. :D

is it hallows or hollows?

It's Hallows.

I heard a rumour a few days ago that it was going to be Hollows. I just checked http://www.mugglenet.com though and Hallows it is. I can't freakin' wait!

i have to agree with this. his portrayal of dumbledore in 'goblet of fire' was especially shocking. since when does dumbledore manhandle the students??

so excited for "deathly hallows" (not sure how i feel about the name yet), i hope we don't have to wait until, oh, 2010 for it. that would be so cruel.

If you go to www.jkrowling.com, you can play some pretty cool games. The new one, unlocks the mystery of the book name.

DrummerDeanna 12-21-2006 11:02 PM

I am a HUGE HUGE Harry Potter geek...LOVE them...and am so excited about book 7...like beside myself excited...

I disagree about the movies though - I think they're also fab - though the third was my least favorite (because that director sucks big bop balls).

And he sucks 'em twice

I HATE Alfonso Cuaron or whatever (as a director..as a human I don't know the man). But I thank the heavens JK ROwling is alive and able to consult on the movies otherwise the PRisoner of Azkaban movie would have not at all resembled that book - that director sucks that way.

I still think it's the weakest of the Harry Potter movies. The first two stayed pretty good with the books - but by the third one the books get so long that a movie can't possibly get it all in - I think they've done a good job with what they have to work with.

I just re-read Half Blood Prince, cried like a baby...I am so in love with this series...I hope that damn book does come out this summer, but I doubt it will...

haha!

I don't really follow the HP movies enough to notice the art direction or anything. I've only seen them in bits; never watched one all the way through. I used to be into the books when they came out, but lost interest after awhile. :sorry: Basically after HP mania struck the world, I got sick of seeing it everyyyyyyyywhere, and gave up on it. 'til I saw Alan Rickman as Snape... :D

it's funny you should say that ... i was just at borders and the 3rd movie was only $8.

Stupid third movie

I was so bitter when that director was announced...the only other movie I'd seen of his was the remake of A Little Princess - but he bastardized that to hell so I knew he'd be up to no good with HP...asshat.

But the books? I adore, I've now read them three times each, except for Half-Blood Prince which I've only read twice...Harry Potter is one time where I'm right there with all the hype...

When HBP was released I was in line at midnight to get my copy...and I'll do the same for BOok7....

i'm re-re-re-reading the first one ... again.

i've never gotten any of them at midnight, but i have gotten the last 3 books the first day they were announced. because i'm crazy like that. i don't regret it, though, i'm right there with the HP hype too.

oh, and LOTR. i enjoy the LOTR hype too. :D

So any thoughts as to the Snape situation?

I don't want to say too much here...dammit...and my mom doesn't have MSN messenger..AND she has freakin' dial-up...but now I wanna talk Harry lol....But don't want to say too much here for fear of spoiling it completely for anyone....

wait, which snape situation? the one at the end of "half blood prince" or is this a new situation that i am not aware of? snaaaaaaaaaaaape. i love him. and i fully admit that's mostly because of alan rickman.

elie 12-22-2006 09:46 AM

I used to be a HP fan, but after finishing the 4th book I lost interest in HP altogether. Maybe it was because of the movies. I thought that the first 2 were unwatchable and the 3rd mediocre-however I really enjoyed the 4th movie.

Will the 7th book be the last?

DrummerDeanna 12-22-2006 10:14 AM

The seventh book is supposed to be the last  That's when Harry will (or is supposed to) graduate from HOgwarts...

And as per the "snape situation" I did mean theone in Half Blood Prince....I just didn't want to name it in a way that gives anything away.

That reminds me...slightly OT...my sister and brother in law were talking and said, "we haven't watched Love Actually this year yet..." my nephew (big Harry Potter geek) asked, "what's Love Actually?" And my brother in law answered, "that's the movie in which PRofessor Snape and Professor Trelawney are married..." :p My nephew was quite perplexed...

lol, not unless that $40 million goes fast.

as for the book, I'm so excited that they finally announced the title. I really hope they announce a projected finish date soon, 'cause I know I'll be at Barnes & Noble come midnight that night, trying to get my hands on a copy.

foxyluva 12-23-2006 01:52 AM

curtie! did you go club hopping? (your myspace updates said you were...)

estranged4life 07-21-2007 08:32 PM

Well...

Deb bought herself a copy this morning, but she has yet to look at the end of the book so as to not spoil the ending.

I would buy Christy a copy, but she's not big on reading as she once was...

Aisling 07-22-2007 02:41 AM

i read parts of the leaked version a few days ago, because i am a horrible person and couldn't wait. but i did buy a real copy and finished the whole thing properly today. i can't believe it's all over and there will never be another harry potter book to speculate about!!

i don't want to post spoilers for anyone who hasn't finished yet, but i cried at least 5 times during the book. total sap, i am.

mylittledemon 07-22-2007 10:10 AM

ending of book 7

It ended in a way I thought it should. I actually thought "what if" in my own mind about what actually happened (meaning I had already guessed parts of the ending)... It should make for an interesting movie.

I finished reading it a couple of hours ago. And no I'm not going to spoil it for anyone.

It's very good though.

estranged4life 07-23-2007 12:21 AM

Just made it back in from seeing the 5th Harry Potter movie, and it was by far the darkest story driven of the 5 films in this franchise - but by far the best film too.
