Got a fa$t connection and $ome free time?

I'm wondering if someone would help out a music fan with a lousy connection get some downloads and email them in smaller chunks to me? Then I can be gruntled again instead of disgruntled and I will definitely do something nice for you in return. There are six albums available but other friends are too busy to help me just now. Even if you can only help with a couple would be great. None of it is available in legitimate release that I could find. Thanks.

Sure, can do! Do you want me to send individual tracks or just smaller zips? And is sendspace okay?

becca 12-18-2006 06:17 PM

smaller .zips are fine by me, two or three parts... things over 45 MB are too long for my ISP, they cut me off after three hours, so I can only get them if they are in two or more parts. Thanks for taking the time! I don't think I've ever been to sendspace, just rapidshare and yousend it, but if it's like that it would work I guess.

Let me know if I can do something for you.

Oh, and I don't need the first ten tracks of that beatles one as I did get them on a legitimate CD.

will I be in happy happy bear land soon?

Beary soon! ... okay, bad joke. um, as for anything in return, if you could maybe upload some of your favourite songs of the moment, that'd be cool.

becca 12-18-2006 06:36 PM

Well, here is one I have really been weird for, it's Bagpipe Rock by Glen Honeycutt and was recorded at Sun Records in 1956! I think you'll like it...

http://www.philxmilstein.com/probe/t...agpipeRock.mp3

but there are no actual bagpipes in it!

I'll see what else I have.

becca 12-18-2006 07:12 PM

I see the beatles in my inbox! Thank you! I'm still uploading a song, it can take me 45 minutes to upload just one...

Ooh, this should be interesting... *downloads* Did the Beatles stuff get there? I'm just getting ready to upload Terry Jacks.

Here is another favorite but from 1989 by a Hershey, Pennsylvania group The Ocean Blue, titled Between Something And Nothing. I don't know much about them, I found this song on a Sire records giveaway CD and have treasured it ever since.

I hope this one still works. It's Playgirl by a new group called Ladytron...

syth with vocals.

I'll post more later on but will try downloading the shortened beatles file...

goldustsongbird 12-18-2006 08:10 PM

^ I love Ladytron!

becca 12-19-2006 12:24 AM

Here are three more newer tracks, Zero 7 is something like Ladytron, and I really like this track by them. Another Ocean Blue track, and another favorite by Figurine. Hope these are working.

 Thanks! Yeah, they all appear to be working.

Are you in happy happy bear land yet?

becca 12-19-2006 12:42 AM

I'm getting there. :^)

I have the beatles ones in and listened to most of them, and am getting the first part of Terry Jacks now. I'm so glad you were here today! I've been trying to get the Decca tapes for months.

I looked into getting a faster connection but with tax it would be over $40 a month, and I'd have to buy a router thing on top of that.

Yeah, I.. have no life. lol. I'm glad I had nothing planned for today. ;) I wouldn't mind sending the rest tomorrow, either.

How fast is your connection now? You're not on dialup, are you? :(

becca 12-19-2006 01:03 AM

Yeah, I'm on dial-up with the 56k modem, an average of 4.8 KB/Sec.

I see Spanky 1 there now and that will have my hands full for awhile anyway. You could skip to Harpers Bizarre tomorrow or the next day if you like. Sorry that it's probably not the greatest music but something I've been wanting. I just got the last Cass Elliot record I didn't have on ebay a few weeks ago. I wonder why it's never been on CD like some of these... and Buckingham Nicks' 1973 LP really would make money if they ever put that on a legitimate CD release. There must be about 1,000 bootlegs of that sold on ebay alone.

omg, dear girl, how do you survive! That kind of connection would kill me. You need to buy yourself an upgrade for Christmas. ;)

Well, we can hope for a BN CD release. Its been 'in the works' for like, how many years now? I've learned not to trust anything S or L say about dates, lol.

becca 12-19-2006 11:14 PM

Wah. I got called into work after noon and didn't get back until a bit late and I'm really tired now.

I got the Terry Jacks stuff downloaded last night though, haven't listened to it yet. I have a ways to go to catch up probably. There's a song I've been wanting to post here but it'll take me awhile. Sorry I wasn't here today, and thanks for all the help. Thursday is my other day off.
