Okay, I got dissed tonight.

So, I went to my usual happy hour haunt today. It's a relatively tired gay bar for middle-aged dudes like me, but recently has become sort of "hip" for the downtown crowd.

A couple hours into the fun, a woman was frantically looking on the ground for something. I tried to help her, and she said she was looking for her ipod. I started looking all over with her. She said, it's not an ipod, it's a nano. I said, I don't know what a nano is. She said, are you f*king old or something?

Anyway.....I now know what a nano is. And I guess I've learned that I am f*king old. Since I was the only person in the bar trying to help her find her nanu nanu, it's a little odd she would diss me. I don't know, maybe it's good that she did? Or maybe hip young people shouldn't try to take over tired middle-aged gay guy bars?

irishgrl 12-16-2006 12:11 AM

Yep  all of the above. There oughta be a law..........

DrummerDeanna 12-16-2006 12:12 AM

 Wow...thanks for helping out a fellow human, huh? How rude...!

PsychCat 12-16-2006 12:16 AM

I would go with that last thing you wrote.

Isn't a Nano just a smaller version of an iPod?

I would have if I found it! I was the only one trying to help her! It was so bizarre....

amber 12-16-2006 12:28 AM

no. no. that didn't happen. it couldn't have.

Maybe she was really ripped.

You don't look old at all anyway, you look young, so whatever. Walk it off.

GardenStateGirlie 12-16-2006 12:28 AM

why in the hell would you bring something like that to a bar anyway?

lame.

Yeah...so you'd think she would have been a bit more kind...though it was a bar - was she saying "are you f*cking old or something" in a jokey way or was she just being an ungrateful b*tch?

I can't....I'm too old.

I really don't care if I look old. I know who I am and what I've been through and I'm at peace with it. I just thought is was funny because here I intentionally go to an older gay guy bar so I can be with my people and I still try to help this young woman and she disses my ass.

Will she ever win?

The latter.....I started laughing with her when she said it, but she wasn't laughing. Maybe she was plastered.

Anyway, I got a good education, there are ipods, there are nanos, and there are "shutters".

But I will take my 8 track player and haul it to the gym with me tomorrow.

Oh ok..she's a b*tch  Seriously - plastered or not that's f*cking rude, I hate unhappy drunks.

I don't even know what a "shutter" is and I had to google iPod Nano to make sure I was thinking of the right thing

really? i mean, i'll admit -- i carry my ipod everywhere -- just not to bars/clubs/shopping trips out of fear that what happend to this girl would happen. not to mention, what use would you have with one out at a bar anyway? unless she was by herself. judging by her attitude, it's no wonder why her nano would be the only company she's keeping

foxyluva 12-16-2006 12:36 AM

I don't own an iPod, so I guess Im pretty lame :p

I can only think maybe it just stays in her purse always, or she came to the bar right after work. Or she's a retard. I don't bring mine out, either. Also, I specifically wanted the one that hangs around your neck because I was almost positive I would lose it otherwise. :p

hehe. I didn't think so. It's a nice bar, though, so I thought maybe. I mean, me and my friend drank there.

She was with a whole gaggle of young women. They were all attorneys having some holiday "party" at the gay bar, how "The Office" of them, or maybe Will and Grace? Anyway, even though most of the tired older gay guys were mad about all these young straight people being there, I was cool with it....share the love, you know.....which is why I was trying to help her find her poor lost Nana. Or Nano? Oh no, no.

Even after she trashed me, I wrote her name and number on a napkin (how f*king old school) and gave it to the bartender in case they find it.

yet somehow it is like the kleenex of tissues:D

I know!! lol..I always say my mp3 player - and people always say, "oh your iPod.." nooo....Deanna HATES iPod...

I got 20gigs for half of what I would have paid for a 20GB iPod and I'm in love with my player so far....so I say screw apple....:p

Phoenix 12-16-2006 12:46 AM

I just wanna say two things, one that biotch is rude and lame, sorry she had to spread her negative energy into your positive space.
and two I just turned twenty five, and When My sister got me an mp three player, I was like What is this, is this one of those things that takes your heart beat and counts your steps? She was like no you dope its an mp3 player. EVERYONE has one I was like "OH"   You are NOT ALONE :wavey:

GypsySorcerer 12-16-2006 12:52 AM

Someone must have pissed in her drink. Or is she even old enough to drink?

i have a huge issue with changing handbags and coats excessively. i've lost my id card and my ipod for those reasons. señorita bleu [she's franglish, apparently] went missing for two weeks and i nearly had collective heart failure. she showed up 21 days later inside of my other handbag.

In San Francisco, people are both huge tech heads and huge a-holes. It looks Ryan experienced both these qualities in one horrific person tonight.
I have to admit, I'm kind of suprised Ryan didn't know what a nano was. But not so suprised that I would feel the need to cuss at him and insult him.

It is odd if she is a lawyer. I mean in the way that she can't be 19 or something if she is a lawyer, and therefore...ah,nevermind.

 that's exactly what I got. And I love it - it's been brilliant so far. Sound quality is great, and if you read the reviews you probably have seen that the only quirk is the sensetive touch pad, but it took all of 2 minutes to get used to....

I have now put my entire cd collection on there and still have 14GB left

The only complaint I have is lack of accessories, but there are some good universal ones I've found that work ok...but shopping for them is annoying because EVERYTHING is made for the damn iPod....hopefully the tides are a turning though as more people branch out to other brands...

Wait, is the senorita your ipod?

I have similar issues, with different uh...things that hold things. I keep hoping it will result in me finding money that I forgot I had, and conversely not losing things I always need, but mainly the opposite has occured. It isn't funny at all when you lose your I.D. In fact, I keep a spare.

Wait, wouldn't she be franish? She's french and spanish, right?

THats what I have is the zen version of the nano. I think they are easier to use.

WelshWitchPMD 12-16-2006 01:04 AM

What a witch that lady was to you! Don't feel bad, I just found out what an Ipod and Mp3 player were only a few months ago. I ended up buying a Samsung MP3 player too. I hardly ever use mine but then I am old too.
I think that a Nano is less expensive model then an Ipod but I could be wrong. You should have called her a 'cheapskate" for having the lesser model.

 I just went for the cheapest w/ the most capacity...but the Zen has more accessories than the Sleek...of course I also think the model I got is being discontinued to make room for a more update version...

I also had a Creative Zen Micro...that was a great little starter mp3 player for me...so I'm pretty much sold on Creative now

yes, she's my ipod. and i just really like the word franglish.

the i.d. thing is not funny at all -- especially when it lets you in your townhouse, your car in the parking garage, and is how you eat when you're at school. i've definitely left that in coat pockets more than once. very very irritating to loose it or anything for that matter.

Yeah, Amber doesn't have much profit in her life, either, but...I dunno, you don't really have to be techie. I feel like I couldn't possibly have avoided hearing about the nano. And then riding BART, or walking around, everyone had them....wait, everyone and their mom.

Naw, I can see that you might not have heard of them...
