I love thick, creamy

Peanutbutter. Who doesn't?

Wild_Heart03 12-14-2006 08:20 PM

I don't get how people like the chunky kind. The extra peanuts kind of weird me out.

DrummerDeanna 12-14-2006 08:22 PM

I only eat Jif. Creamy.

I'm totally bi when it comes to jelly. I love mixed fruit, too.

jannieC 12-14-2006 08:27 PM

I only like crunchy. And I have never eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The two together freak me out.

ditto, somehow the two of them together doesn't sound aesthetically pleasing to me.

Ew, I know. Eating it as a kid always made me feel like I was doing something wrong...

I love pb with almost any kind of jam, except for the weird combos like apricot or grape. Strawberry is the way to go!

You should try Skippy light. It's the only kind I'll eat.

Have you tried the honey-roasted Skippy? So. freaking. good. Sometimes I'll just get a big spoonful and eat it right out of the jar.

DrummerDeanna 12-14-2006 08:40 PM

Hmm..I don't know - I'm not very open-minded in the food department, and I've never really taken to regular Skippy or Peter Pan..Jif is where it's at.

Buuuut....I have a problem with Jif. It's only great for so long - a few days or so after it's been opened it tastes like every other peanut butter

I used to love Apricot jelly - but as of late I can only do Grape or Strawberry - and I need them to be low-sugar or I just can't handle 'em.

Oh and I was 25 years old when I finally had my first fluffernutter :p

So with mixed jelly...you're actually TRI! groan. That's bad...but your mention of jelly threw me over the edge I am really craving a peanut butter and jelly sandwich now

Regular Skippy is kind of heavy, I find. But the light is really good. There's a huge difference in texture and everything. I only go for half or no sugar jam, too. I've found I can't take sicky sweet things anymore.

I've never had fluffernutter at all. Can I blame it on being Canadian?

Sure! Or you can blame it on not wanting to go into extreme diabetic shock  I was not a fan of the fluffernutter.

Hmm...I'm reluctant to try a new peanut butter :o Perhaps one day - I buy it so infrequently...it's not one of my staples.

Ew - this reminds me - on the Today Show yesterday they were profiling this new "automat" style restaurant in New York -and one of their offerings was a FRIED Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich....the sight of it made me gag...

Nah, I don't buy a lot of pb either. It tends to last for ages, so...

I looked up fluffernutter - I've had that! We used it to make s'mores when I was a kid. It was ridiculously sweet. blugh. Fried pb&j sounds gross. Almost as bad as fried banana and pb, which my grandfather liked. Weirdo!

DrummerDeanna 12-14-2006 08:55 PM

^^

Oh I didn't realize you didn't know what a fluffernutter was lol...yeah, just PB and Marshmallow cream....blah.

Dude..I think I'm going to have to pick up some PB on my way home

Make it Skippy pb! Or else...

Srsly, it rocks so much. I dunno if they'd have it up there, but you should look for it next time you're at the store or whatevs.

Meanwhile I could write a novel about the awesome candy you have up there. Your Smarties pwn ours.

HomerMcvie 12-14-2006 09:19 PM

Cash is drinking a peanut butter milkshake right now. We ONLY eat creamy. I'm not that picky on brand, though(although as a kid, if Mom didn't buy Peter Pan, I wouldn't eat it!). I usually buy cheapo(Aldi's:o ), but Kroger's had Skippy for 99c last month, so I bought 3 jars of it.

Betches better have it! I'll def. keep an eye out for it.

 as long as the novel doesn't include anything about our supposedly awesome beer.

Sweet. I've never even heard of Peter Pan pb, though. You and D have mentioned it... I don't think we have it here. Whatever you do, don't go with Kraft. It tastes like wax.

And I've never heard of Kraft peanut butter. I'll bet Kraft owns Peter Pan or JIF, and it's a marketing thing, where maybe that's a U.S. brand name?

Karlie 12-14-2006 10:12 PM

I prefer crunchy, but I don't mind creamy either. And I too am jelly-bi. Sometimes I can't even tell the difference between strawberry and grape jelly... they both just taste like jelly.

DrummerDeanna 12-14-2006 10:38 PM

Hmm..never heard of Kraft PB either...

BUT true to my word I stopped at the store on my way home and just had a lovely PB n J sandwich for dinner (w/ Strawberry jelly) :D

You don't know what a fluffernutter is!?!

It's peanut butter and fluff (the marshmallow stuff that comes in a little jar or tub)....it's a sandwich with those two things....:D

rbs3676 12-15-2006 09:32 AM

Every morning for breakfast I have a bannana and a piece of Pepperidge Farm 9 grain natural whole grain bread, toasted and smothered with Jiff peanut butter. I never tire of it....simply delicious....

rbs

I've never heard of it before, either, but it looks delicious! But I don't think I've ever seen marshmallow fluff in a store.

Rickypt 12-15-2006 02:08 PM

This thread is kinda hot. I love Trader Joe's chunky PB.

DavidMn 12-15-2006 02:25 PM

Strawberry Jam and creamy peanut butter!

Me too! I buy "mixed fruit" in everything. From cookies to pie to cereal. But not on my peanut butter!

ELIUD 12-15-2006 03:21 PM

Peter Pan Honey Roasted Peanut Butter is my ultimate favorite with some strawberry preserves. YUMMY! I also enjoy Blackberry preserves, and generally stay away from grape, had too much of it as a kid I guess. But I also love Peter Pan's sugar-free peanut butter when my blood sugar is too high. It's really the best I've tasted of the no-sugar variety.

And peanut butter on a banana with no bread is my snack of choice. Just stand their at the counter with an open jar and a banana then just coat the thing down as I peel it. Damn I want some now.

DavidMn 12-15-2006 03:22 PM

I kinda like that Real brand stuff. It's all natural and that's nice.

Never had the rasberry - and I never had a fluffernutter as a kid - I didn't try it until my 20s and by that time my tastes were not so fond. It was way too sticky and sweet - but I probably would have LOVED them as a kid...

Because of this thread - or did you happen to have the stuff already on hand??

Me? I totally had peanut butter and jelly last night solely because of this thread  So sad- but it'd been a really long time, and it was very good

skcin 12-15-2006 04:51 PM

Let the record show that I did not start this food thread. :D

SuzeQuze 12-15-2006 04:58 PM

Yes, I love peanut butter. I buy all natural though cuz that other stuff is loaded with trans fats. Although probably not for long since the food industry seems to be removing trans fats from its foods.

I love thick creamy ice cream too. Damn how I love ice cream.
