Mac users

I thought there should be a thread for us to discuss Mac news, etc.. I just found this site and I'm so ecstatic. I know exactly what I want.

www.macstyles.com

thanks. I just added it.

for some reason I never registered with mac-forums. as I remember, there was some strange requirement that I can't think of now that kept me from registering.

weird ... maybe it was a different forum i was on. i was a fairly prolific poster for a while ... hmm.

i hate when message boards require you to have an email account that isn't "free" ... it's really annoying.

yep. I think that was it.

speaking of...why does The Ledge require that? I signed up back when you could still have a hotmail account. so, of course, the email I'm registered with is long gone, but I can't change it cause I still have only hotmail. I think it's totally stupid. but that could just be my ignorance of the reasoning.

i think it's to prevent people from registering under multiple accounts, or at least make it more difficult to do so. i'm just glad i have my school acct, or i couldn't have registered!

That's exactly why.
We had a few losers (but most especially one) who tried registering tons of different accounts with various offensive names and/or names that were intentional slams towards various Ledgies.

The solution was to ban web-based email accounts and require ISP-based accounts instead.

JazmenFlowers 11-29-2006 11:42 PM

aha. mystery revealed and sense made.

damn. leave it to Stewy to make both of those happen in a matter of moments this late at night. :xoxo:

ClearDock is cool. lets you take off the grayish color of your dock so that it's clear. you can get it at unsanity or versiontracker I think.

I also want to get some themes, but you have to have Shapeshifter I think and I'm not sure how all that works. I'll have to look into it.

anyone else found some new, cool apps?

JazmenFlowers 01-12-2007 05:42 PM

anyone have experience with CandyBar (to change icons) or changing icons manually?

lol. copy the pic you want to use, then view the folder's info (apple+i or right click, etc). click on the icon folder at the top, then hit apple+v to paste.

how would I change things that stay in the dock, with the exception of things like Safari, etc....I got those, but like Finder and Trash Can and System Preferences?

I have an iMac G5...as far as speed, etc...lord, I don't remember. but I'll look it up and let you know.

I am extremely happy. I would've gotten a laptop is the only thing I would've done differently.

btw, i need to stop going to ourchart.com. i made the mistake of watching ilene chaiken's video blogs ...

This is a cool plugin for Itunes that searches for local shows based on your music library.

I am in love with it already! No more searching each venue and local calendars to find shows. http://www.iconcertcal.com/

Nope, but I did get a Macbook for College and totally love it. It has basically changed the way I look at computers.
