Snow! Who'd a Thunk it?
Granted I live in the mountains, just under 3000 ft, but I dont usually get snow here until after the first of January..........but its here, and we have had temps in the 20's (Howzabout THAT Deanna, we did too!) when it was clear, and now snow.......my daughter lives 1000ft higher than I do, I cant get her on the phone, I hope she's ok......

Up in Washington east of Seattle theyve really been getting pounded.

Not fair. All we have is ugly, nasty, dreary rain.
It better not friggin' flood again this year. I had enough of that sh*t last year. |

I was going to say "anyone can" but that is so apparently not true as witnessed during the first snow we had here. |

Go figure. It's been in the high 50's/low 60's & partly sunny here for about a week. No snow since that bad October storm either. Strange.
|
Here today it's one of those totally miserable days. The kind with the low hanging clouds and about 35 degrees and a light rain.

Well the same system that dumped snow in CA is moving our way and joining up with some Arctic air to produce a major winter storm. Great.
Actually I won't get the brunt, that'll still be the mountains, though it's icy and cold today...highs in the 20s....they may have climbed to the 30s but it's not looking like it...I want to be at home by my fire and tree...but alas I have to be at work... |
Well...

It is expected to be 70 on Wednesday afternoon, then the bottom falls out. The temps will plunge down into the 30's Wednesday evening, then the rain will turn into ice (I hate ice storms, this will be the 4th one in 4 years-The worse was the one that knocked our electricity out for 3 days in Jan.2002...Hell, Just today I noticed the tops of our trees suffered from the 60MPH winds we had last week, so I guess I'll suck it up and hope my back doesnt go out as I remove those branches tomorrow) and by Thursday morning the ice will turn to snow. The wind chill for Thursday will be at 0 Farhenheit, with the high's being in the mid 20's with blowing snow (Which will be fun since we're scheduled to go shopping on Thursday-I can drive in any weather condition, However people in this area cannot drive even when it is 90+ outside) Just think, it isnt even nowhere the coldest time of the year for this area! |

you'll blow my cover! Im about as tree hugging, eco-minded as you can get but when the only thing that will get me to work and back during winter is a 4wheel drive, you betcha Im owning one! (when I say SUV, Im talking the ORIGINAL SUV, the JEEP--not them behemoths that make ya sick with their conspicuous consumption.....) ps: the snow ended up turning into rain and washed all the snow away. We had snow again today btw, this is so strange... |

We are also having the strangest weather on this side of the ocean. We would normally be preparing for winter now with temperatures in the low 40's at best, and a lot of wind and rain. Instead, we are still experiencing the aftermath of a warm fall, with sunny weather and temperatures going into the 60's. It's quite bizarre, but this is the second year in a row this is happening now. Our summer was unusually hot also, with a 3 week heatwave. They used to last not longer than 3 days.
I'm beginning to think Al Gore made a very good point. |

No, Seattle is right on the water so it's normally pretty mild here... similar to San Francisco. The eastern part of the state, on the other side of the Cascade range, is a different story... very hot in the summer and very cold and snowy in the winter. |
I'm waiting for the bottom to fall out here. It's been in the 60's, which is unheard of in November. Thursday/Friday it's supposed to plummit down to the 30's and snow. I just hope it snows enough to sled in!

I live in the state with the most extreme weather climate (Had a tornado warning yesterday matter-of-fact), That's probably why the National Weather Service is based in Norman. Tomorrow's 50 degree temp drop within a 12 hour period is typical for this time of the year (The high temp will be in the low/mid 70's on Wednesday afternoon with moderate chance of thunderstorms, the high temp on Thursday morning will be around 27 F with high chance of sleet/ice/snow) As the saying goes for Oklahoma weather: "If you dont like the weather...Wait" |
