Lindsay: The next Stevie Nicks?

Please god NO!

http://lifeandstylemag.hollywood.com...evie_nicks.php

It’s no secret that Lindsay Lohan parties up a storm, but the rave reviews she’s getting for her performance in her newest film, Bobby, prove the girl’s got major talent, too!

Now an insider tells Life & Style the 20-year-old spitfire is looking to take her career to the next level by angling for a role that will merge her love for singing and acting…and hopefully get her that Oscar she’s been dreaming of!

“She says that movies like Ray and Walk the Line are good examples of the kinds of projects she’d like to do,” the insider says. “She feels like she’s found a dream role in a story about Stevie Nicks at the height of Fleetwood Mac’s fame. Lindsay loves the music of that era, and [people] have told her she has the same distinctive gravelly voice as Stevie’s.”

Lindsay is working behind the scenes, says the insider, to get the rights to the story so she can produce it herself. She even has a leading man in mind to play Stevie’s longtime love and Fleetwood Mac band mate, Lindsey Buckingham — dreamy Jared Leto!

“She keeps saying what a great team they are on-screen and that she has always wondered why he didn’t have a bigger career,” says the insider.

That’s music to our ears!

i hope this is a coke-fueled delusion that never comes to fruition.

I have to agree she's quite good in Bobby (all the cast is incredible), but to imagine her as Stevie Nicks would give me nightmares.

That would be a nightmare...i'm shocked that she is even circulating such an idea!

If she wants to try to fill Stevie's boots, more power to her. I don't think she has the draw of crowds like she did a few years ago. I'm just glad Stevie's story has been discussed. But how much "story" do they know? It will be hard to get a good 2 hour drama without the band coughing up some inside info....

That's an ear monitor. Singers use those while performing on stage.

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick, this has got to be some sort of sick joke!

I saw the photo, it's almost like Stevie's facial expression is like... "No way are you playing my part in a movie"

Lindsay Lohan to make a movie about Stevie Nicks

On her last album, A Little More Personal, Lindsay Lohan covered "Edge of Seventeen," a Stevie Nicks song. It seems the experience has left a mark on Lindsay as she's now attempting to get the rights Stevie's story so that she can make it into a film, reports Life & Style Weekly.

An insider told L&S, "[Lindsay] says that movies like Ray and Walk the Line are good examples of the kinds of projects she'd like to do. She feels like she's found a dream role in a story about Stevie Nicks at the height of Fleetwood Mac's fame. Lindsay loves the music of that era, and [people] have told her she has the same distinctive gravelly voice as Stevie's."

Lohan is also hoping that her former flame - and the co-star of her upcoming film, Chapter 27 - Jared Leto, will sign on for the movie as well. Lindsay has Jared in mind for the role of Stevie's Fleetwood Mac bandmate and lover, Lindsey Buckingham. The L&S source revealed, "[Lindsay] keeps saying what a great team they are on-screen and that she has always wondered why [Jared] didn't have a bigger career."

The magazine claims that Lindsay is being very proactive in the process of securing the rights to the movie. She may even serve as one of its producers. This wouldn't be the first time Lohan has taken on extra responsibility. She directed the video for her song "Confessions of a Broken Heart."

As much as I'd love to see a Stevie movie, I fail to see how one can be made if they limit it to the "height of Fleetwood Mac's fame." That's 1978, and nothing especially tragic had happened to any of them at that point. Yeah, there was a lot of partying amidst some affairs and breakups - boo-freakin-hoo.

On the other hand, if they started in the studio while Bella Donna was being recorded, and ended with Stevie coming out of rehab, clear-headed at her piano writing DTBTIC, I could see it. All the Mac stuff could be handled in hyperreal drug-fueled flashbacks - that way you couldn't tell what was real and what was exaggerated, thus sparing everyone else's precious reputations.

Much more interesting will be the Landslide of lawsuits that bring down Ms. Lohan is Stevie doesn't like what's going on.

SortaSavageLike 11-21-2006 10:39 PM

A few months back, I came close to putting together a script that focused on Stevie and her friendship with Robin Anderson. It started with them meeting in high school, and ended with Stevie choking up on stage after her death. Unfortunately, every time I put it to paper it was just too damned depressing.

Of course, it would also have plenty of kick-ass live performances.

catinthedark 11-21-2006 11:03 PM

got this article on google alerts today. could only muster... "dear god... no."

seriously, and thankfully, i don't think she has a prayer of securing the rights. we all know what control freaks stevie, lindsey, and mick are.

it'll never happen.

thank god.

bikerchic 11-21-2006 11:12 PM

I think I'll kill myself. She would have to get the rights from all of them, not just Stevie. If Stevie goes for this, I'll never talk to her again. Oh, that's right, I don't talk to her anyway

Was she even clear headed long enough to write this gem of a song.?.let's not forget she continued her downward spiral with an even more lethal addiction AFTER she got out of rehab the first time.I think the film should deal with that addiction and recovery too.

strandinthewind 11-21-2006 11:31 PM

I think LL is a good actress and she could paly the role. Could she sing it - probably not - but then who could actually sing like that?

I completely agree - and was starting to think I was the only one on here who actually think LL has talent

She's a party gal - but she's YOUNG and rich...and unfortunately making a lot of the same mistakes all of us did - only she's in the spotlight...

She can act though - I've enjoyed every movie I've seen her in...I've never heard her sing though - oh wait, I did in A Prairie Home Companion...

hey if Reese Witherspoon can pull off June Carter then I think with coaching and practice LL could do Stevie.

The idea that Lohan herself is trying to get this off the gorund and produce it leads me to believe it has no chance of happening.I'm a huge Jodie Foster fan and at her early 1990s peak she was a much bigger and more prestigious star than Lohan will likely ever be and even she couldn't get a biopic of troubled French new wave American actress and suicide victim Jean Seberg off the ground and she had her own production company. It would take years even to get a filmable script IMO. It just ain't gonna happen.

greatdarkwing 11-22-2006 01:07 AM

Am I the only one who thinks this might be a good thing for Stevie? No, I am not too happy to see Lindsay playing the part, but still. This could be a HUGE surge for Stevie's last 3-4-5 years in the public spotlight. Plus, this could be a push for an autobiography, and a possible RRHF induction as a solo artist...I think this movie has alot more positives than negatives.

Sure if the film actually had the cred to get made and done well.Lohan is kind of a ditz who was nearly fired from the film she is working on now due to unproffesional behavior. If this film actually sees the light of day i'll be stunned.I think we'll see the Rhiannon project get made first.

Hey yeah, I think this would be great! It could keep the FM/Stevie magic going for a few more years to come! Think about how many young LL fans out there who know nothing about FM, but they sure would if a movie was made. Yes, LL can sing, I've only heard the song from "confessions of a teenage drama queen" and it's good! Why is everyone up in arms about this esp her singing?

BombaySapphire3 11-22-2006 03:19 AM

Does anyone remember the Janis Joplin biopic that was supposed to have been made ?It has been discussed for years now and by major studios..still hasn't even gone into production ..so don't worry Hohan is just ranting as usual..nothing will come of it but I guess it does make entertaining speculation .

This post is spot on. They would have to center on the party, attractive years, like these things always do. The affairs would be overdramatized, the songs would be only hits - I would hope for a big blowout scene with Joe Walsh featuring the song "Long Way to Go", but that's probably a bit of a fantasy. Or it would be depicted in the fantasy hyperreal drug fueled flashback mode that you spoke of.
I don't care if she does it or not - we already know that it will be crappy, anyone's rendition of Stevie probably would be subpar to us. But, if it makes more people examine Stevie's work, then, hurrah.

I would wish that we could find an Angela Basset (Tina Turner) or a Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) to do justice to STevie, but I think that is a huge challenge. Which I think will make the movie more about the dramatic entanglements rather than the music.
So.
I know already that the thing that will piss me off most is the same thing that is evident in Stevie's setlist - all the same songs, all the time. I don't think we'll be getting any renditions of how awesome live Stevie really is, and always has been, and all those strange and beautiful moments that her voice really had, which is about 45% of the true breadth of her talent. We ain't getting no Tusk doc Angel dance, if you know what I mean. And I think it would be almost impossible to find any actress to recreate that even somewhat successfully, to be honest.

I do think Jared Leto (or Jake Gyllenhaal) would be interesting Lindsey choices. However, they MUST cast an actor named "Steven" or "Stephen." The gimmick of Lindsay playing Stevie and Steven playing Lindsey is just tooooo tempting to resist!

Well, she wants Jared Leto to play the leading role of Stevie's long time love Lindsey Buckingham, so it's safe to say that the other Mac members will definitely be present. It's interesting that Lohan brought up that part specifically, because though as much as I loved Walk the Line, I always thought it focused on Johnny and June's relationship a little too much as opposed to his actual career. I know that was done deliberately, but I wonder where Lohan plans to take the movie if that's the case. I agree with whoever said that a movie based solely on the days when Fleetwood Mac was most popular seems a bit strange. There's not enough there to fill up an entire movie. A ****load of drama occured before and after the height of their careers. Either you focus on the entire band and start from when the band was born up until a glorious moment (because in Hollywood everything has to end happily) or focus on one bandmember, and it doesn't really say what's going to be the case with this movie. Besides, they're really going to need some inside information to pull this off. I seriously hope they are not going to base this one the spectacularly lame 'biographies' that are out there, or worse, on Mick's tell-all book.

If, ofcourse, there is going to be a movie, which I seriously doubt. The fact that Lohan's name is once again linked to a possible project is very much vomit inducing. Though I have to admit that Jared Leto as Lindsey is actually not that bad of a thought.

I agree with you. I also think that having Lindsay Lohan attached to a Stevie related project could only bring more exposure to Stevie herself, especially from a much younger demographic.
