Do you know the track numbers of all of Stevie's songs?
...as they appear on her albums and singles? I know the polls have gotten a little out of control lately, but I was strangely curious. :woohoo:
|
I used to know the track number for every song on every one of Stevie's albums (and which track number her songs were on the Mac albums as well), just off the top of my head.
These days, I'd have to think pretty hard about it before I could answer. |
quite simply, yes.
|
Not anymore....
|
Yes. When I can't sleep, I play the Stevie Tracklist Game. It's much more fun than counting sheep. I slowly name the songs, in order by album. If I still can't sleep once I finish TISL, I start over with Bella Donna and let my inner priestess sing them instead.

Chucky, I did that for YEARS!!! And if I made a mistake, I would stop and start over from the beginning. Too funny! About five years ago, though, I got a cheap-o portable CD player, and now I put headphones on and listen to that as I fall asleep. |
Listening to the songs just wouldn't work for me if I were trying to sleep. The "first side" of Bella Donna would be fine, but who wants to sleep when you're listening to Edge of Seventeen? The Tracklist Game is fine, but the Sing the Catalog Game gets a little tricky, especially with songs I don't completely love (Two Kinds of Love) or with songs where I prefer the concert version (Outside the Rain) or songs where I prefer the demo/alternate (I Sing for the Things). The internal monologue goes something like this, tossing and turning not indicated: "Well I talked to my famous friend last niiiiiight" (I really hate the way she sings "night" - why didn't they use another vocal?) "My third day up, well his second night-er" (If I don't fall asleep soon, it'll be my third day up, too!) "He said, 'I don't know how you do what you do - how do you let the world in?" (Ooh! Bruce Hornsby! I'd forgotten how much I liked his album - I wonder what ever happened to that CD? Did I loan it to someone? Is it one of the ones that were stolen? Weird. Maybe I can find a good used copy. Or I'll be bad and look for a few songs online. Wait - what was that song of his I used to really like? Doo-doo-doo... Oh yeah, The Valley Road: 'Standing like a stone on the old plan-ta-TION, rich old man...') (Crap! *slams pillow*) "You can ride high atop your pony..." |
No way. Some of you people must be some kind of savant.
|
I have to admit to needing to bone up on that.
|
Yes, I do.
I'm getting pretty good with 'Mac tracklistings as well. |

I still somewhat know the track order of the studio releases, which is surprising since half the time I can barely remember my name with my health problems. Oh, I voted "No". |
Most of the time, yes.
I reckon I need to brush up a little, though! And next time I can't get to sleep, I'll give this a try instead of the Rosary for one night! :D |

Wait, is that considered to be weird? :o
|
seriously. yes. but, then again, this is me.
I often study the exact tracklisting and determine, in my own mind, why each song follows the other. |

Yes, I know the tracklisting exactly for every Mac and Stevie album.  Even when I make mix CD's, I sit and ponder over what tracklisting I want. |
I just have a uncanny ability to store huge amounts of useless information in my brain. I can sing along to an entire song after listening to it two or three times. I can not only do track listings, I can do setlists also, and it's not like I have studied them, my brain just stores the information.
With Winamp playlists and MP3 players that have a 'random play' button it's gotten to be harder though. |

^ Ry and Jaz,
I have spent months putting together a CD mix collection of Stevie's released work. 8 CDs total....I think....I'm still working out the tracklistings for each CD.....each CD has a theme...and the songs must flow into each other....It has to have the perfect beginning track....to the ending track. It's tedious. |

The only time I "cheat," is if I'm doing a "singles" collection... then I just track them chronologically. |

have you ever heard "silly faggot, dicks are for chicks"? |

oh. my god. I literally laughed out loud because I do the same thing. Totally. But usually I do the alphabet thing. A-alice b-bella donna c-candlebright d-dreams and so on. I do it on other things too-countries, cities, vegetables. whatever. It takes me at least an hour to go to sleep most nights so I have to mentally wear myself out so I'm not thinking about stupid sh*t. oh, and no. I don't know the track numbers to all of stevie's songs ;) |

I voted yes, though I haven't gone thru the tracklisting in a while. HOWEVER, I will be all boned up come Vegas if there is a test. haha
