Anyone going to Hulaween?

Anyone using next month's rent/mortgage payment to see Stevie on Halloween? :woohoo:

henryscutter 11-01-2006 06:04 AM

Anyone have any info on this?

GarboSpeaks! 11-01-2006 04:52 PM

Yea. What the heck?!?!?!? Surely one of you Ledgies was cool enough to be able to go. Deets pls. :xoxo:

I've been looking all over for pics or something interesting. Getty Images has photos from the event, but none of Stevie.

Beachwood Mac 11-01-2006 05:15 PM

Joy Behar talked about going to it on The View this morning and I was hoping she would mention Stevie but didn't.

Someone over on 7W spotted this:

Stevie Nicks was waiting to take the stage. All I can say is it was worth the wait. The audience went berserk as she appeared, swelling voluptuously out of a black lace dress over four-inch black leather boots. Her voice, one of the most distinctive in rock'n'roll, was rich and full. As Nicks went into her famous trademark "twirl," the crowd yelled loud enough to be heard out on Park Avenue. Forty minutes later when she finished, the room was on its feet and Bette herself was rocking out. It was funny, campy and thanks to Stevie, enjoyably sweaty.

P.S. ON Stevie Nicks. This iconic, somewhat mysterious performer, spends time these days visiting wounded soldiers at Walter Reade Hospital. She gives presence, support and iPods filled with great music as well. Asked about this, she blushes and brushes it off: "They're great guys -- and gals. No matter what you think about the war, it's the least anybody can do, right?" Right.

She wore black lace and black boots.

While we wait for reports, we can try to guess the 40 minute setlist.

My guess:

Enchanted
Dreams
Gold Dust Woman
Rhiannon
Stand Back
Stop Dragging My Heart Around
Landslide

Sorceress 11-01-2006 09:44 PM

Yep

This was an amazing party. I wish Stevie performed at this every year, because I'd love to have an excuse to go again. People were dressed in the most gorgeous costumes and the place was decorated fabulously. It was a lot bigger than I'd imagined it would be--they ended up raising $2 million for New York Restoration Project. The food was great and it's always fun to hang around a bunch of tipsy monied New Yorkers.
We spoke to Joy Behar and Waddy saved me from a vicious elevator at the end of the show, but the other celebs who were there were well hidden. If we go again, we will know to wait outside to see everyone entering the hotel. I imagine it would be easier to pick people out on the red carpet than amongst a crowd. I don't think Stevie sat at a table and ate with everyone else as Bette did, but I could be wrong.

Here is the real set list:

Stand Back
Rhiannon
Outside the Rain
Dreams
Stop Draggin'
Landslide
Edge of 17
Rock n Roll

Stevie wore the black dress, of course, though it seemed a bit shorter than I remembered it in the past. She wore the platform ankle boots and black gloves. Her voice was fab and her hair looked great. I had a hard time understanding what she was saying when she spoke, but the gist of it was that Willie Nelson and Bette were some of her favorite people in the world and she was so pleased to be there. She seemed a bit flustered, saying "I'm trying to figure out what to say" before she introduced OTR. People definitely appreciated her and cheered for her and I know there were quite a few who went to the event just to see her, but everyone sat the entire time. There were a handful of people standing along the sides and a few at the tables who actually stood. A few people attempted to experiment with security and a possible Edge walk, but no one was allowed at the stage and Stevie didn't make any move to shake any hands.

Here are a couple of pictures... It was hard to get anything really good from where I was standing, but you get the general idea.

Thanks for the review and pictures! Sounds like a great time. Did Stevie wear the hat the entire performance?

Nope, just for Rock and Roll, I think. Maybe Edge too, but I'm not sure. I, embarrassingly enough, was involved in a small conversation with a security guard during Edge, so I sort of did not notice if she was wearing the hat or not.

SandyMac 11-01-2006 10:16 PM

Thank you for posting these pics. Ahh, there, got another shot of my Nicks Fix:) I have it bad.

She looks wonderful. I love the boots. Wonder if any more photos will pop up over at Getty Images or well, maybe some photos of her will be posted on Bette's site for the Project since they have previous years photos posted.
Now, if only we had audio... I know, I am asking way too much but we all know we can never get enough of Stevie.

Wonder if she will open with SB in Vegas?

MacMan 11-02-2006 12:16 AM

Cool! Thanks for posting the pics. She looks a little odd... Maybe it's the bottom half of her, seems odd to see her on stage without the trademark flowing dress/skirt - what ever you call it... I dig that hat...

She could have totally rocked a witch hat with this outfit. I know she has big issues with the whole witch thing... but I think it would have been funny/ironic/campy/de-stigmatizing if she had done it.

Oh, those were the days... when Christine would show up as Aunt Jemima...

desertangel 11-02-2006 03:09 AM

That's definitely a different type of skirt... and I must say, I rather like it! I've had an idle curiosity of what she would look like without all the layers for awhile. It's classy, it works and it shows off her cute figure.

Thank you so much for sharing these pictures! So glad you got to go, sounds like a wonderful time!

I hope not. I think SB should always be played towards the end of her set.. It's such a climax song in her shows anyway.. I actually think it would be the perfect encore, right after 'Edge'..

diamondsnake 11-02-2006 04:35 AM

I love her outfit! The skirt is much more flattering since it is not as flowy/layered. And I agree that a witch hat would have been a nice touch, but I don't think Stevie would dare wear a witch hat with all the rumors about her actually being a witch! It would have been so funny though...

Great picture. It is fabulous! And, I am glad you had a great time. Stevie looks great...

I agree the skirt is odd. to me, it seems like it's the underlayer to another skirt or something...just odd...and it doesn't flow well with ankle boots. AT ALL. ugh. why not put leg warmers on then?! that probably would've made a world of difference. I guess I'm in the minority that thinks the flowy layer skirt actually flatters her figure. oh well. at least she rocked.
