Paul McCartney/Heather Mills Divorce Shocker: Paul Choked Me

In court documents filed by Heather Mills, she claims that estranged husband Paul McCartney was physically violent towards her, took drugs and stopped her from breastfeeding their baby during their marriage. She says while in LA in November 2002, he grabbed her by the neck and pushed her over a coffee table. In May 2003 she claims he shoved her into a bath. In Aug 2005, he allegedly choked her after she accused him of smoking marijuana. In April 2006, the documents state, he tipped red wine over her; he then broke the wine glass and lunged at her with the sharp stem of the wine glass which cut Heather’s arm. See the specific allegations detailed below, as reported by London's Evening Standard:

October 2002: McCartney loudly pointed out that Mills was in a bad mood, in front of other people. When they returned home McCartney and Mills began to argue about the McCartney’s behaviour. McCartney grabbed Mills by the neck and pushed her over a coffee table. He then went outside and, in his drunken state, fell down a hill, cutting his arm.

May 2003: The couple were in a hotel in Rome when McCartney behaved coldly towards Mills, who was pregnant and who was distressed by a derogatory newspaper article about her. An argument ensued in which McCartney became angry and pushed Mills into the bath. Mills suffered distress but was made to go to McCartney’s evening concert.

May 2003: Following the concert, in a fit of pique because Mills refused to go to the aftershow party, McCartney directed a female bodyguard to abandon Mills, leaving her exposed to hordes of fans. The respondent was forced to take a 30 minute walk back to the hotel because no taxi was available.

August 2003: In Long Island, Mills asked McCartney if he had been smoking marijuana. He became angry, grabbed her neck and started choking her.

October 2003: McCartney often told Mills when she was pregnant that he did not want her to breast-feed their child, making the comment "they are my breasts" and "I don't want a mouthful of breast milk".

November 2003: McCartney required Mills to defer an essential operation on her leg because it would have interfered with holiday plans.

December 2003: Mills had a broken pelvic plate McCartney insisted that she cook for him while she was on crutches, could barely move and was in agony.

Mid-November 2004: McCartney failed to protect Mills from adverse press reports despite being in a position to do so. Mills was warned that a forthcoming article about her was about to come out in The Sunday Times magazine and included the line: "The best thing that ever happened to Heather Mills McCartney was losing her leg" which was distressing.

As McCartney had been asked to participate in the half-time entertainment for the Superbowl on Fox TV owned by Rupert Murdoch (who also owns The Sunday Times), Mills asked McCartney to tell Rupert Murdoch that he would not confirm his participation in the Superbowl unless he agreed not to run the story. McCartney refused to assist in this way.

September/October 2005: McCartney called Mills an "ungrateful bitch" in front of their driver when she explained why an office he had provided was not right for her. Having refused to allow Mills to use his spare office on the floor beneath their apartment, which would have allowed for a creche in one part of the office, McCartney had insisted she use an office that was far too small and was 20 minutes walk away. When Mills went to view it, she was chased by paparazzi and was so demoralised by the experience she never used the office.

April 2006: Shortly after Mills’ revision amputation surgery she was forced to crawl on her hands and knees up aeroplane steps because they were not wide enough to take her wheelchair. McCartney had assured Mills he had taken care of her disability needs in connection with the trip.

April 2006: An argument occurred during which McCartney poured a bottle of red wine over Mills’ head and then threw what remained in his wine glass at her.

McCartney then reached to grab Mills’ wine glass, and broke the bowl of the glass from the stem. He then lunged at the Mills with the sharp stem of the glass, which cut and pierced Mills’ arm just below the elbow causing her to bleed profusely. He proceeded to manhandle Mills, flinging her into her wheelchair and wheeling it outside, screaming at her to apologize for "winding him up".

April 2006: Mills asked McCartney not to leave her alone with their daughter Beatrice at the Cabin (because it is isolated in a forest). She had just had surgery on her leg, was in a wheelchair, and was anxious about her ability to cope by herself. Notwithstanding this, he walked off. Mills then telephoned McCartney, and asked him to return. McCartney mocked her pleas, mimicking the voice of a nagging spouse, and refused to return.

April 2006: It is alleged that Mills found McCartney staggering, undressed him and ran the bath and helped him into it. She then phoned the McCartney’s psychiatrist for advice and was told not to attempt to move him, to get a duvet and two pillows, to empty the bath of water, cover him, and leave him there.

Mills thereupon dragged herself upstairs, on her hands and knees (she was unable to wear her prosthetic leg as the wound from surgery had not yet healed) and brought back down the pillows. She found that McCartney had vomited on himself. She rinsed him off, and got him out the bath. At that time Mills had a broken plate in her pelvis and she was in agony.

April 2006: On April 27 Mills knew McCartney would be too hungover to help her with Beatrice and due to her own incapacity as a result of an operation, she had to call the babysitter to help get Beatrice to nursery.

The following day McCartney went to London but said he would be back in time to help the put Beatrice to bed. He did not arrive back at her bedtime even though he knew Mills could not cope on her own. McCartney arrived home drunk and demanded dinner and called the respondent a nag.

That evening Mills realized the marriage had irretrievably broken down and left, crawling on her hands and knees while dragging her wheelchair, crutches and basic personal possessions to the car.

No date given: Mills asked McCartney if she could buy an antique bedpan to keep under the bed at night so she wouldn't have to crawl to the bathroom when her prosthetic leg was not fitted. McCartney objected, saying it would be like being in "an old woman's home."

Ahh.

All this happened, yet he initiated the seperation.

And she was shocked that he did.

^^

Uh huh. Something's fishy.

I have NEVER liked her - and I'm pretty sure the only truly accurate thing in that article is that Macca smoked pot.

Stupid Heather Mills

Nico 10-18-2006 10:53 PM

I can't comment on any of these allegations, but good gawd what a thing this is going to be. Poor little child. :distress:

DrummerDeanna 10-18-2006 10:58 PM

The allegations - I'm not one to poopoo abuse - but I just don't see this as being a valid claim on her part. I think there is some dirty work going on with her legal team - lots of exaggeration.

mylittledemon 10-18-2006 11:06 PM

who f*cking cares? These celebs love to air their dirty laundry dont they? Why can't people divorce with SOME dignity? It's always a greedy fight over money, in the end. Jaysus.

irishgrl 10-19-2006 05:13 AM

Im sure Paul's attorneys will thrash any falsehood. My concern is if its even minutely true...I have often wondered if he was depressed after Linda's death :distress:

SuzeQuze 10-19-2006 08:03 AM

She's a jackass, who expects 500 million from a divorce? It's rediculous.

Well, that's half  I mean that is no different statistically than slitting $100,000. In the end, this is all posturing and I think she will get $100 million or so, which likely is half of what he earned during their marriage.

Right but it's just not reasonable to expect that kind of money after a short marriage IMO. I cannot believe PM did not have a prenup! I'm sure he can't either.

Without a prenup and with the child - it is totally reasonable under the law. She is a very clever girl IMO.

 I've wondered about that too - getting into another marriage so damn fast after Linda's death...they were together for so many years, and he and she said they never spent a night apart (except for the time he landed in jail  )

I wonder if he was expecting something similar from this marriage - but Heather is no Linda and Linda was Paul's great love...so there may be some emotional distress at play.

But I refuse to believe that shrew is completely blameless and sat by to be abused....highly doubtful her accounts.

skcin 10-19-2006 12:58 PM

I too am hesitant to blow off a claim of abuse, but something just doesn't sound right. The drinking, the sarcastic responses & name calling, I can believe. The man's not a saint, I'm sure. And maybe he does drink too much - I'd tend to blame that partially on Linda's death. If he really did physically attack Heather when drunk repeatedly, then she should have gotten out of there long ago - think of the baby!

But for her to claim she had to crawl or wait on him while injured around seems a bit much. Seriously? There aren't any servants at that house to cook and help take care of the baby? And there are laws for the disabled - no way should she have had to crawl up airplane stairs, even if Paul did neglect to make prior arrangements. No way.

I dunno. Just seems strange. And if my husband gave me my own office & I complained about it, he's probably call me an ungrateful bitch too. :p And he'd be right.

Nico 10-19-2006 01:15 PM

I honestly did not like Heather Mills from the very moment I heard of her and Paul's relationship. I mean, Linda was fantastic in the true-love/soul mate/kindred spirit way. They were the couple, and they created such a strong bond and gorgeous family. There was something cold and calculating in Ms. Mills that I can't really describe, but she rubbed me the wrong way and seemed a bad match for him. Paul is old school. He's an overly-romantic, playful guy but he does have a sharp side to him, and Linda certainly got that side and handled it perfectly. They weren't just husband and wife, they were best friends and supported each other in everything.

The fact that his kids, whom I like and think are very sensible, down-to-earth people, were so disgusted by Heather that they walked out of the wedding halfway through the ceremony (so it was reported) really said something. I don't think Heather really tried to be understanding towards them, and I think she could have cared less about Paul's legacy, which really (aside from his family) is his world. And if you were in the Beatles and you did all that, hell...I understand.

I don't know if he's abusive or someone who mocks handicap people (although, if you know about the Beatles it's pretty clear that John had a bit of a paranoia towards them in his younger days), but I do still love him and hope for the best for him and his little daughter. The older kids are settled and have their lives. It's really just Paul and this little baby girl that I hope everything works out for. I could honestly care less about Heather. I hate to say it, but I really am beginning to see very clearly why she married Paul. And I do not respect that at all. If it comes to be that Paul did in fact physically harm her, I can not respect that, but that still will not change the fact that I really dislike her.

And I think you hit the nail on the head...I don't doubt the man drinks - and maybe he said some mean stuff - but yeah the crawling and all that...erm no. I don't buy that.

I totally agree, he isn't a saint but I really can't see him violent. And in a tabloid era it's practically impossible to keep hidden this kind of informations with a famous person who's been under the spotlights for more than 40 years. IMO, she wants those 100 millions.

CelticGypsy 10-20-2006 04:02 AM

I agree that all she cares about is the money. Too bad she isn't thinking what this will do to their little girl.

irishgrl 10-20-2006 04:59 AM

I cant believe all the people dumping on Heather here....I mean, we dont really know all that much about her except that she's an activist and former model and married Paul....and there had to be something good to start with or he wouldnt have married her

In my book it takes TWO to tango and Im sure there's plenty of blame to go around on both sides....AND, I dont think she'd be making these claims publicly if she didnt have the proof (or whatever) to back them up. I have a feeling that there's probably some truth to them, and I can TOTALLY see a depressed Paul being drunk and verbally abusive. Maybe even more. I can believe he'd be callous toward her as well. That claim that she had to crawl up the airplane stairs? What would be the point of her even saying it if she didnt have some sort of corroboration?

In any event I guess we'll find out.

ps: I never knew what he saw in Linda, I never liked Linda. Dont much care for Yoko either  Love's a funny thing, aint it?

If you take a look at some of the fansites that collect articles about Paul you will find out that Heather is quite creative with the truth (to say it diplomatically). Many people, her former husbands/lovers, friends and even her own father were forced to talk to the press to set the record straight. Yes, "forced", because more than once Heather didn't hesitate to tell quite sensational and damaging stories about them in order to elevate herself and make herself look like this tough survivor who has fought against the odds. Making Paul the latest in that row of "demons" who did everything to make poor Saint Heather's life hell on earth is really no surprise. Or read interviews with Paul's former PR man Geoff Baker who can tell you a lot about how Lady Heather put a bit too much emphasis on "Lady" in the way she treated Paul's staff. It's not a surprise that Paul mentioned that as "rude behaviour" in the divorce papers.

She has admittedly done great things for amputees, but she has also used and hurt a lot of people who really loved her in order to climb up the ladder and she didn't have any problems with lying to these people and selling even them a revised biography of her life if she saw the need to reach her goals.

You wondered what Paul saw in Linda? Take a look at Danny Field's biography about her or read some of the things friends, musicians and journalists have said about her and you'll get the answer. :) If it wasn't for Linda, Paul probably wouldn't be making music anymore. After the Beatles split, Paul sank into a deep depression and didn't do anything but lie around, while Linda took care of everything, including his business with the help of her father and brother who are lawyers in NY. She also gave him the much-needed kick in the a** to do something productive with his life again. Even Paul admitted that later in his semi-autobiography.

I totally agree with all your points. Paul and Linda were a beautiful couple...true soulmates. I always thought he jumped too quickly into the relationship with Heather, he just did not have enough time to grieve and mourn the loss of his true love.

As far as Heather's allegations...they sound like a bunch of bunk to me. Crawling up airplane steps? Give me a break...chartered/private plans still come with a staff. No pilot or flight attendant would allow a guest to crawl up the steps. That sounds so far fetched.
I seriously doubt Heather cooked on a regular basis, so the story about her being forced to cook after surgery also sounds unbelievable. I tend to think there were staff around who could cook and help care for Beatrice. This is Paul McCartney we are talking about. Even Stevie has help around the house.....and Paul and Heather have a small child, plus she was recuperating from a major operation. I can see Paul yelling at her, smoking pot, getting drunk, mocking her. I hope he called her an ungrateful bitch if she complained about the office she was given, I know my husband would have probably said the same thing to me. I have read a few articles about Heather and her activism work and she does deserve alot of credit for that. However, there are some articles that talk about her using Paul's name, to get more money or to throw around for power, and him being very unhappy with that. She often tried to get him to participate in charities that he did not want to as well.

I still say there's two sides to every story and Im inclined to believe there must be some truth to Heather's claims or she wouldnt make them, especially in a Court forum where you KNOW everything is going to be seen under a microscope. you just DONT make up wild accusations there because you 1) run the risk of losing credibility and 2) open yourself up to prosecution for making false accusations.

Linda may have pulled Paul out of his funk but I still dont know what he saw in her. :sorry: I never liked her.

Well, that's you.

Paul obviously loved her tremendously. She was no doubt an amazing lady. She gave him a lot of love, support, encouragement, loyalty, a beautiful family, and helped hm stay grounded. Linda was able to stand behind Paul's star with no qualms and yet he couldn't manage without her. She was a rock. I remember when Stella McCartney said that her mother was the main source for and inspiration behind her profession, because she was the kind of lady who would wear an old flower dress and slippers with confidence. She was a minimilist who remained true to herself until the end, and I personally thought she was a wonderful photographer.

Well, no one ever said Paul would replace her so Im not sure where your snark is coming from. I happen to remember when Paul first got involved with her, how the public saw her and how it was very VERY hard to accept her. You dont have to agree, but you sure as hell cant change history. and I was THERE. were you? I thought not.

Um, I don't understand why you're getting so defensive. Nothing in my post was meant to offend. Sorry you took it that way. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and, as I said above, you may not like Linda but Paul loved her/married her and that's really the point.

True.

I don't think it's even a question. From my own experience, the onset of my mother's Alzheimers was not more than several years after my father passed. She was in her mid 50's at the time. Who knows what the impact was on Paul? My first guess would be his marriage to one Heather Mills.

On that note...I just watched the R&RHOF ceremony from 1999 where Paul got inducted by Neil Young. Now, was it just me, or did he seem totally plastered there? This was a few months after Linda's death, and to me it seemed he hadn't really dealt with that properly at all yet. Very sad to see.

They're lyrics from The Time It Takes to Fall by Adam Pascal (off his "Model Prisoner" album. Highly recommended btw.) Thanks for asking, though. :wavey:
